It's all about perspective and what you are based on.

As you are so use to manual, which has very direct feel when it comes to throttle response, you won't get adapted to CVT so easily (both PWR on or off).  Say, if you are a Axia driver, you probably notice much more.

Auto car should be driven differently.  CVT even more so.

Yea, i also have Iriz 1.3 CVT, but Punch CVT is really bad, it's the least i enjoy driving, tbh kinda weighing if i should trade it in for Ativa lol. I've driven latest Toyota Yaris, Honda City, Jazz, Nissan Almera 1.0 T, none feels as bad as Iriz. 

Indeed, modern auto and CVT cars are programmed to be eco biased, so they feel best driven in a smooth normal mode.

It's a sports mode, i think there's a Raize ad of this feature, kinda exaggerating typical funny Japanese ad lol.

Rare indeed haha. The stock exhaust does sound good, still silent enough as daily driver, yet sounds good to add to the driving experience

Yea, Myvi lagi best still has throttle cable, so throttle response is instant. Our Gen2, Myvi G3 already use drive by wire, no way can match 0 lag cable.

I was seriously itchy to consider the Ativa but my car still has 3 years of loan to go and a bit sayang to sell it after all the 'TLC' I gave it so far.

It's still a stock standard ride though but personalised to make it stand out...

Probably will give it a test drive just to satisfy my curiosity on the CVT + Turbo combination and probably look into the car in 1-2 years time when economy picks up.

Haha, that's nice, my Gen2 is stock, except for rear lamps, which was changed to LED type by previous owner, i bought it used. Been using it for 4 years, not much problem, pretty reliable and affordable to maintain.

Yea, just test drive to feel for it. I never have intention to get City, Yaris or Almera, but i still go test drive to feel for myself how it drives

Secondly. Torque curve for all Turbos are linear. Don't generalise all NA non linear orque curve with turbos.
Otherwise why is turbo always quoted range I.e "2400-4000rpm" or "1500rpm - 4000rpm" vs NA always quotes as single reference.

Let's take example Nissan Almera 1.0L turbo. Similar RPM torque range as 1KRVET.
Yes I know. The almera has 12nm more torques than the Ativa. Again I'm here to show turbo torque band curve since we can't find any torque curve from Toyota even! Not even Pauline Tan has the photos during launch.

The only car I test drove was the Aruz & the Proton X70.

And actually that very same day of the P2 test drive, I decided to get the Myvi instead. Cos of my prior experiences with contis and the breakdowns/maintenance etc, my wife nagged me until I decided to get a new car & something I could afford without breaking the bank.

I actually drove my MIL's Myvi 1.5AV as well for a few weeks back then, and although my initial experiences weren't really positive, like laggy acceleration etc, I truly appreciated the specs for that price point. Eventually when finances improve, I would like to own a decent car too but right now, priorities lie elsewhere, and my car has been garage queen since October last year until today when I'm back at office.

Im tempting towards this car as my first car however I had something to ask here.

Is the small turbocharged engine like Ativa here is reliable for long distance journey? I read somewhere turbo engine can be really hot also kinda worried the small capacity could shorten the lifespan if push too hard. Never drive the small engine or turbocharged car before so didnt have much knowledge on this area.

And for those who had test drive, do you guys think it had the power to pull, let say 4 adult occupants inside. My local dealer still didnt allow test drive they waiting for the roadtax something.

start from 7:14 mark , till 7:30 mark he reach 100, almost 15second             

Looks like he never pressed the PWR button before doing the 0-100 sprint.  Without PWR on the boost is low, as in ECO mode.

If not mistaken Myvi 1.5 is around 11.5-12.5s.

If the 15 sec for Avita at ECO model, I do have doubt it can reduce below 12s.

Hopefully like what some of the users claimed... lol

From what I know X50 around 8.2s with sport mode and normal mode around 9.Xs.

It's a Daihatsu, i think they've engineered the engine well to be reliable.

Provided you drive it around speed limit, i think long distance journey is way better to the engine than getting stuck in stop and go traffic, where i think the wear and tear is much higher.

I test drove with the SA, 2 adults, i think it has the power and torque to pull 4 adults in easily. Just drive it normally, light right foot, you just need to rev up to 2 - 2.5k rpm most of the time, it'll be fine.

The Ativa NVH was BEYOND Worst, during the Genting run. Try comparing this to YS Khong video on Almera 1.0 Turbo. It's like night and day.

I think YS did not drive the Almera as hard.  For the Ativa, he really takes on the demand of all Malaysian public, to rev to the max while driving.  Manual mode all the way and let the CVT upshift by red the line ! 

For any car, if driven like that on regular basis, it will break into pieces 

Perhaps you might want to look at the RPM before making that sort of conclusion. Better still, watch the whole video right from the start.
