I am having a Gen2 CPS manual also, as a spare car whenever my VW Golf 7 got stuck in the workshop. I always enjoy driving the Gen2. I feel it rides and handles as well as the VW, or even a bit better.

May want to just sell off the VW and get an Ativa to save me the torment of VW workshop and a lot of money.

seriously you need to, a big different in maintenance costs

I think YS did not drive the Almera as hard.  For the Ativa, he really takes on the demand of all Malaysian public, to rev to the max while driving.  Manual mode all the way and let the CVT upshift by red the line !  blink.gif

*
Uncle YS indeed drove the Ativa very hard, taking only 12 min 06 sec (4:56 to 17:02) from Guard House to Guard House. This beats both the Almera's 12 min 29 sec (4:59 to 17:28) and X50's 12 min 12 sec (4:17 to 16:29). For comparison, MyVi took 13 min 02 sec (3:03 to 16:05) beating a VW Scirocco along the way, and G20 330i did in heavy traffic 14 min 14 sec (1:42 to 15:56).

Wow nice bro.

Hope you get to make a decision on this soon.

For me the car seems pretty decent overall, especially the spec sheet for a car at this price range.

Somehow watching the MG3 video was even more entertaining and felt even faster! brows.gif

But jokes aside, that whine in the cabin when he was putting the car thru the motions took some getting used to.

With YS behind the wheel of Ativa, one gets to see the speed of the car is travelling. At one point at the last leg it was hitting 151km/h uphill. Going downhill saw YS hits 122km/h maneuvering a tight corner. For a SUV to be able to go for those speed I think it is pretty ok for day to day usage. Watched some of YS' videos like Vios, City and, etc, anyone gets to see how fast the cars were going ?

Will wait a bit until the waiting time is shorter. No rush. Maybe can get some free gifts then to compensate for the SST hmm.gif

The main appeal of Ativa over Proton is the fuel efficiency. I love the good fuel efficiency of the VW and also my Gen2 manual.

Bro, with other cars YS test run, he didn't show the speedometer. But, with Ativa he outright showed it. That's why I asked here.

To be fair, he did that in the X50 with an adult passenger. An extra passenger going up Genting makes a big difference.

I put the booking in Dec (parked it under a myvi), officially changed booking on 10 Feb, received SMS on 23 Feb, loan approved 2 Mac

To date, no allocation yet from Perodua

Dealer - DMM Shah Alam
1st color choice - 2-tone (any color)

I booked silver AV on 22 Feb, loan signed on 1st March. Still no car. But there's other color like granite gray available.

Thanks bro. It was a short journey, unlike my cancelled X50 haha.

19/2 - booked car
3/3 - submitted loan documents
9/3 - signed loan agreement, allocated chassis number
11/3 - transferred NCD, paid deposit
12/3 - registered at JPJ
13/3 - delivery

My experience has been largely positive. I enjoyed driving it around Subang Jaya roads today, turning people's heads. It feels like driving my Myvi Gen 3, but with an elevated point of view. I had to remind myself not to take corners the way I usually do with the Myvi, because it's so fun to drive. Thankfully the speedometer is huge, because I sometimes fail to realize I'm going too fast (I'm a law abiding citizen).

A friend of mine who drives the Australian-spec HR-V was very impressed with it, considering it's a Perodua. He didn't even mind the tiny rear seats although he's 6 foot tall, saying it's like sitting in his old Kelisa. I think he just misses his old car.

As for complaints, only minor stuff like some slight turbo or CVT lag, but I'm guessing I'm just not used to driving it yet. The rear seats are indeed too small for adults, but it's still fine for my young kids. The larger boot space compared to the Myvi is a much appreciated trade-off.

Apparently the p2 salesman requested him to push the car to its limit as the sales are not overwhelming

I would rate it as a pretty good 7.

Thanks.
