sigh. all these ppl telling me new car usually comes with windscreen insurance. i checked mine but there's none. i guess i have to fork 1.8k to replace this?

also, i heard stories about the sensor/radar whatever that was mounted on the windscreen would have issues after they replaced it. how do i go about this? find dr cermin? go to sc?

Did this crack happened for no reasons? I read about this quite regularly from other ativa owners on FB.
Seem it can happen to any window glass, not just the front. Must be some poor QC by local vendors. Perodua's proud claim of "95% local parts" is actually a curse?

QUOTE(contagiouseddie @ Dec 21 2022, 07:34 AM)
Usually only salesmen that cares will ask you about the windscreen coverage. But again, it really looks like Ativa windscreen macam quality cap ayam. Can see so many cases of it on FB.
*
Again, maybe poor QC by local vendor. Hope not some crony company (what's new) sad.gif

Nah, its due to this stonechip. Not the first one that hit it, but somehow this one produce such hairline.

And yeah almost every week you'd see people complaining about how fragile the windscreen and the C-pillar windows is on the fesbuk.

Confirmed with both SC and Perodua GAP or whatever they called it; mine doesnt come with windscreen premium. Went around for quotation.

SC quote 1.8k.
Other big-name shop ranges from 1.2k onwards.

Ends up with this one shop in Balakong who quote me 780. Add another 150 for tinting. Comes with limited life-time warranty (for the tinted and leaks). Took 3 hours to complete.

No more P2 logo haha.

Luck was really not on my side today because the sensor module fell off from whatever adhesive they use while Im driving home.

I really dont have time to uturn since I got task to do (WFH shit.) So I hit the nearest accessories shop to have it glued back together. Dude forgot to turn off the car while unplugging the sensor module and the car starts producing all sort of error messages.

https://streamable.com/4udiek

Rm20 down the drain. And it doesn't ends there.

This and the camera error remain persistent, and they dunno how to fix it. Had to rush home real quick. People telling me to unplug the battery but it was raining and I dont want to waste any more time on this, so I went to find another workshop after my work is done.

user posted image

Dude plug in some OBD thingy, tap some button, and the error is gone. RM30 for the job.

930 for the windscreen + tinting.
20 to glue the shit back together.
30 to reset the error.

money and time well spent.

I'm shocked at how little glue is actually used on the front sensing cameras (can count the spots where glue had been)! shocking.gif

Actually, if you visit certain windscreen repair shops, they have a special advise for you on howto claim insurance even if you havent purchased one yet.
Anyway, i like your positive attitude (sarcasm I know) on money and time well spent! sweat.gif

The Perodua tinting is very low quality variant. Just when the car was launched, I contacted their supplier after given the contact (irony that P2 themselves doesn't know the tinting specifications). So, if can get tinting from outside. Good brand will cost around 1200-1500.

Collected my ativa av today

Few question
1. Why the trunk light default to light on when we unlock or when we open the door,, is there anyway to off it?

2. Key inside, and Im washing the car, the buzzer keep on buzzing even when water go thru it, at first I dont know what is it,, but realized, got notification on dashboard saying key inside,, annoying

First impression
1. People saying interior bigger than myvi, but for me, the back passenger space is smaller, leg room is obviously smaller, back seat is shorter, confirmed by my kids, front seat is nice
2. I even feels that the front windscreen is shorter, from side to side
3. All the LKA, safety, etc etc etc,, ok lar,, nice to have
4. D-CVT,, Rubber band effect not that obvious compare to my CRV,, feels more like normal auto gearbox, whereas CRV rubber band is obvious
5. Learn not forget to off the auto engine off

Congrats!

1. yes, it has no manual switch
2. I always phobia will accidentally lock the doors with the keyfob inside blush.gif Ever happen to anyone?
1. It is smaller. I read several good reviews, all say the same. Luckily the front seats are way better in terms of comfort and support.
3. that's what you say NOW lol.... let us know again after a few days
4. i got no gearbox
5. eco-idle? oh man I hate this so much on the myvi. not really that useful in our horrible traffic jam. car turn on and off like gila. But you can find 3rd party fixes (a hardwire kit).

Hopefully that's the end of it!

So long you're well aware of the term penny wise pound foolish and are ok with the experiences you've been through, then it is ok smile.gif

ehh its just for a broken windscreen and the fallout that came out of it. apart from that, nothing too serious and im perfectly fine with it.

i dont mind spending money to get something done because i dont have time to DIY shit nowadays ww

So
Over the weekend I drive from KL to Melaka
Since hway is jammed like crazy, Im using mixed of both trunk and hway and rural road

Driving experince nothing to shout about, but if you really drive within the speed limit, 19km-20km per liter surely can achieves

I try to behave and diligently used eco idle, but i really cannot brain why the engine shut down very fast, even when you shifted from D - N - R - P
When you arrived and want to stop
The engine off when you stop then ON back when you shifted back to N and R

Im guessing no more NO eco idle for me mega_shok.gif

Within few days my car already clock 800km, i guess need to book for first inspection already
