My take is, if you have the skill to do it then go for it.
Otherwise let the pro or so called 'pro' to do it.

I experienced a so called bad situation last time about upgrading.
The so call technician made a lousy job when he upgrading a notebook
ram and damage the screw on the notebook ram cover by using a
non proper screwdriver (like a spoil tools).

I m pretty sure that if you are willing to do it yourself
you will be extra, extra and extra cautious.

Actually, it was Penryn vs Merom for the processor technology.
Santa Rosa is the chipset and it was still used by the Penryn on the new Mac laptop.

Basicly Merom has a 2 and 4MB cache while Penryn has 3 and 6MB cache.

Yea.. too bad as that is the only flaw i see on the MBP design currently.
