Hi,

My S21 could not last through the day despite mild usage. If I don't charge my phone overnight, the next morning it will run out of juice. The phone will often overheat with a popup message "Your phone is too hot. Let it cool down before using Multi window again" during video call (not even game). Ironically, my current S10 never experienced this issue.

I have been to the service center 3 times, first time they updated the software and that solved nothing. The second time they replaced the motherboard + battery and the problem returns after a week. The third time they updated the software again doh.gif saying is a different update. Spoke to a customer support and she told me they received a "few" units with similar issues.

I already formatted my phone 3 times in less than a month for a brand new phone. Not sure If I'm the unlucky one. Anyone here experienced battery drop and overheating issues?

Oh man this is not good at all.

Does the phone feels warm when you touch it?

You basically have a totally new phone already.

How much battery does your Google Play Services use after battery run down? Should be below 5%. If higher, most likely some apps/setting problem.
https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-google-p...-drain-android/

What I would do as last resort is, remove ALL self installed apps and only use those that comes with the phone for a day and see what happens.

My phone gets very hot if I use the camera for around 5 mins. Maybe you can try this.

1. Don't use multi window.
2. Activate Wifi Calling, off the sim card. You will still get calls if you use WIFI. This is to test if your modem having issue or reception is bad at your area so your phone keeps searching for base station.
3. Remove all background apps. Especially the camera if on. Use the clear memory widget out of box to do it.
4. Are you using the phone while charging?

My phone does get hot, but never a pop up message. In the past when I have issue with Sony phones like this, normally a reboot and switch to air plane mode for a while resolves the problem. Samsung doesn't allow both sims to be off like Huawei. If not this method is better than Air Plane mode.

Just curious, why you never ask SC why they never replace the chipset and modem? Unless your motherboard means both chip plus modem too.

try restarting your phone once every few days.

if you feel lazy about it, i think Samsung also has a restart scheduler.

you can configure it to restart when you'll be sleeping. like 4 or 5am

Yup, it gets very hot when I hold on to the phone and have to resort to a casing. But now my Nilkin casing has a slight burn mark and I quickly send it to the service center (second time).

Can't remember the exact battery life left with Google Play Services in used, but it's usually between 40 to 50+%.

My phone has every little app except for the necessary one, I don't even play games on my phone.

1. Don't use multi window. - Basically during video call + browsing the net, my S10 never fails.

2. Activate Wifi Calling, off the sim card. You will still get calls if you use WIFI. This is to test if your modem having issue or reception is bad at your area so your phone keeps searching for base station. - Might try this after I collected my phone.

3. Remove all background apps. Especially the camera if on. Use the clear memory widget out of box to do it. - The phone is still moderately hot if I don't use video call, but this shouldn't happen as my old S10 never has this issue.

4. Are you using the phone while charging? - Nope, scare the phone will explode lol

Can try using the Samsung restart schedule, but if end up having to do that every time, I'm gonna switch phone.

Not sure why they didn't replace the modem, but the guy told me mine is basically a brand new phone coz it's a brand new screen, battery, motherboard.

So no one encounters this issue here? It is only applicable to S21?

I'm using S21U so far never encounter such problem sweat.gif seems quite weird that even changing mobo + battery didn't solve the problem.
I do use multiwindow too especially with zoom presentations for long period up to 2 hours.
It does get warm occasionally but never hot to touch or until left a burn mark on the casing sweat.gif

Snapdragon s20 ultra much better if you insist not going exynos route

The 865 is 25% quicker than 990 haha

888 vs exynos 2100 no more difference already

They should have replaced you a new unit after failure to fix it for 2nd time. Or maybe you haven't requested for a replacement? If it's Apple I guess you will get the new unit already since they wanted to keep their reputation good brows.gif

Yes. Exynos still playing catch-up.
If you read those super techie sites you'll notice there's still significant gap btw these 2 SOCs.
The heating and throttling are still there.
Although the battery dept has mproved much with the current Exynos version.

Exynos chip is okey , but the GPU from MALI isnt okey , Adreno GPU in snapdragon stil ahead than MALI GPU sad.gif , so if u plan to use for gaming with high setting then the snapdragon Adreno GPU stil ahead MALI Gpu

samsung saying that they may co-operate with AMD , so hope next year note21 come out with exynos + AMD GPU and might perform out Snapdragon+Adreno
