Jakarta? What you doin there? Man, nice place to be...
*
Hehe, industrial training lo, nice place rite? especially for musicians..

Nagato: why dun u consider aguilar tone hammer (carried by js music)? shud be cleaner than sansamp, at least, dat's wat i heard from ppl so far la. I know melodia musik in jakarta sells it, so if u want, i can carry it back for u on july 2nd when im doing my hop out hop in.

lordie: why wanna sell? aiming for a bigger cab and head ar?

stagg is pretty brilliant, i'd rather a stagg anytime more than yamaha or ibanez. At least they're more slap and harmonics friendly, tongue.gif.
dun get me wrong yea, I'm speaking about the entry level basses only yea.

newmel: what kickass sadowsky u have there, really wish i had some extra blings with me now... sad.gif

lordie: true true...

dlwl: oh yea, another cheap way of getting out from being stuck in a rut, is to play ur basslines reverse tongue.gif.

dlwl: definitely, but try the bass first tho, u might nt like the feel as some of the stagg j basses have a rather thicker neck with jumbo-er frets compared to the yamaha or ibanez counterparts. My fingers are rather long so i thought they played well. Tone wise, a hint of fender tone is quite evident, somewhat like the SX kind. The body is significantly heavier, and some stagg basses do have some quality issues, so do check properly before buying. But price wise, for smth cheaper than ibanez or yamaha entry level basses, i think the stagg's tone rocks more. Try the slap pop tone on the ibanez gsr, compare it with the stagg and u'll know wat i mean.

Basslines reverse? like some of the improvisations u do to a song rite, say u like to do this: descending: Do - ti- la - fa - mi - re -do

do this instead: ascending: Do - re- mi -fa - la -ti -do

(combination of 16th and 8th notes, depends on the rhythm tho)

Yes Squier has same size , design , materials as the Fender one ... But the craftmanships are not as great . I would rather get an MIM Standard Jazz rather than a Squier Jazz Bass.
*
MIM Standard Jazz? For the price difference, the squier makes more sense. Especially the vintage modified models, for rm1250, u can get one dat sounds as good, plays as good or some even better (some even better craftsmanship) than a rm2300 entry level MIM. If you're going for MIM, the good ones are the deluxe models, don't bother the standards.. Also, for the price difference, might as well get the VM and mod it with new pups and fit in an audere or a aguilar obp, dat would certainly blow the standard away..

Btw, tried the sterling stingray bass @ bentley, really not impressed with it, not properly setup, costs a bomb (rm4k), neck is pretty rough for such an expensive bass, and it really didnt play or sound as well as its predecessor, the OLP.

That depends on whether you can find such good squier or not , not every squiers are as good. Of course I won't go for MIM standard if I have the money , I was just giving a comparison between Squier and Fender which is/are not made in USA / Japan . I would like to have Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass ... Fast neck and punchy tone for the price of a MIM standard Jazz ... Anyone have any ideas on how good are Elixir strings ?

Too bad I missed the sales ... They were selling a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass for 999 bucks ... Now it's back to 1299 - 1599 @.@
*
I dunno, ive tried a couple of MIMs dat were very disappointing and a lot of squiers that exceeds expectations each time. The odds are good for squier tho, but u're right, a lot of bad squiers around, altho im lucky to nt come across them, im speaking on behalf of the affinity and vintage modified series only yea. california series sucks, no question about that. anyone tried the vintage vibe series? according to sujesh, they're kinda kickass.

Which sales? 999bucks as in ringgit???!!

freakfingers: erm, i cant see why a bass cannot be slapped tongue.gif. Even if the action is too high, as long as u can fret the bass, it should still be slappable. only difference is the slap tone. i know certain ibanez gsr(s) have really bad slap tone, stock action set really high, but still slap-popable.
Bass amp? the one last time u wanted to buy frm me wan la, hehe. but sold to jcyh adee tongue.gif. i know bentley last time had a sale for the marshall mb-15s, they're quite impressive fr such small amps.

sounds like u either shud aim for ur bacchus or a fender jazz bass, hehe. once u have a jazz bass, i guess, ur GAS issue wud rest for quite a while... tongue.gif. so much fun playing with the bridge pickup, the tones will never cease to amaze u. Try to get a passive jazz rather than an active, more fun playing with a passive, really. Switch the strings with a set of DR high beams and u're good to go. put both neck and bridge pups and the tone at max and slap pop away.

what pups? as in which pickups to fit in? erm, even stock fender does the job quite well. Maybe dimarzio ultra jazz is a good option as well.
