seems like my pinky is way stronger and more flexible than my ring finger. my ring finger seems to be too stiff and too connected to the middle finger, reducing its flexibility, making fast passages especially those dat include chromatics very very difficult and impossible. any solutions?

QUOTE(lordie @ Jul 30 2009, 06:39 PM) such humility.. QUOTE(Thalmes @ Jul 30 2009, 08:50 PM) Erm, i agree with lordie, if u're going to get the bacchus, and the stock pups really dat kick ass, i think u shud just upgrade the preamp to like an audere or aguilar. but if u want a different sound characteristic (coz dat's wat pups are for) get a dimarzio model J. or ultra jazz. ive seen one sx bass with model J fitted on board before, and it sounded awesome.QUOTE(IpohBoY @ Jul 31 2009, 02:38 AM) I notice that when a guitarist starts to play bass...the fingering is not as agile as experienced bassists.. erm, i kena owned by guitarists too many times adee, i cannot agree with dat QUOTE(jcyh @ Jul 31 2009, 10:35 AM) cos can do gripmaster at the same time as makaning, watch movie, reading, working, wanking etc.... haha, good one This post has been edited by foogie: Jul 31 2009, 11:00 AM |

lordie: thanks for the vid man.. the VT is very pricey indeed, and not really my kind of taste, but definitely a good outboard pre. This post has been edited by foogie: Aug 2 2009, 12:17 AM |

@stealth: DR flatwounds, or if u really need that extra oomph, try thomastik flatwounds, probably can order from cherns @ reddotmusic.
http://rdmgear.com/thomastik-infeld-strings-bass/ do check out his site if u're looking for audere preamps as well. |

@stealth: DR flats can get from js music ar, the thomastik infield, prolly can get only frm cherns, even south americans buy frm him, coz they're so cheap. and u just have to bear the shipping only.
@thalmes: i dun see why a colored string wud affect the tone, if only monny's still active here, if im nt mistaken, he tried the black beauty on his sx. This post has been edited by foogie: Aug 3 2009, 10:35 PM |

i have a huge problem with elixirs, darn disappointed for such expensive strings. shud've gotten DRs instead.. i do like elixirs on acoustic guitars, just not basses...

mysterious dr x, do u read taugeh? if not, and if u're going the jazzy way, i think it's best that u learn some jazz time signatures and taugeh reading. but if u're lazy, like me, just learn some jazz scales or jazz progression, like the famous 2-5-1. Then only start looking for jazz songs to practice on. it's more healthy than straight jumping into like say, a tokyo jihen song, having no idea wat they're playing and just memorizing the tabs or watever.
Jaco pastorius is a great player to study. Especially if u're into harmonics and all dat stuff. |
