here's one on shielding. I find it pretty informative

http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php

It's for strat but modify it a little for jazz bass and it works.

tried one american guy's monster cable while his group were in malaysia. my cable didn't work at that time, so he let me use his, can't hear the difference though, but certainly all the idle noise are gone la biggrin.gif. I think suj has quite a few also smile.gif. wondering wat's he up to these few days...

well i switched from planet waves to ibanez few months ago and it definitely made a huge difference. very much less buzzing and humming.

dunno, i've been using planet waves all this time and totally no humming or buzzing. Even my cheapo cable doesn't hum or buzz.

The only cable that hums and buzzes that i have ever used was some strange super sensitive cable. But that's a special case. If you wound up that cable into a loop you could probably pick up FM waves and stuff like that. Once i think i even heard the 8 o clock news on my amp with that cable tongue.gif

Greetings to all my fellow basist here!

Well, I've been using Season 4 String bass guitar (a indonesia replica for Musicman SUB) for 6 years and I think its time for me to get a better one. Any suggestions?

Greetings ... all depends on your budget ... a Fender American Deluxe Jazz or Warwick Corvette $$NT, if you have the money ... smile.gif
