aiya a cable is a cable. So expensive for what?

I play with my china cable and with my guitarists monster cable totally no difference.
Totally agree with you. If i wanna buy expensive cable also, i look for the gaya gaya ones only... well not really, i look for ropes tongue.gif. Are ropes generally more durable than normal cables? My cables spoil so often, i need to look for really durable ones, not really good sounding ones, coz all that signal preservation watever nonsense really makes no sense to me whatsoever. So are ropes generally better? or u guys have any other Economical alternatives? smile.gif.

Greetings ... all depends on your budget ... a Fender American Deluxe Jazz or Warwick Corvette $$NT, if you have the money ... smile.gif
Raptor and his seductive tone...

Well, I've been using Season 4 String bass guitar (a indonesia replica for Musicman SUB) for 6 years and I think its time for me to get a better one. Any suggestions?
Greetings! welcome welcome, smile.gif. We're all pretty adorable ppl, so u should enjoy ur time here. tongue.gif
Do look at Warwick Corvette Std, too bad the swee lee sale had just ended 2 weeks ago.. sad.gif. Don't worry, i missed it too.
Should be a great buy if u're getting it from singapore smile.gif.
Another alternative would be a typical fender P-bass, maybe a japanese made one. I'm not good at giving suggestions, but i tried my best tongue.gif, assuming u were once a musicman dude trying to look at the world in a different perspective smile.gif. Other threaders should have better suggestions, definitely, i'm absolutely inferior to all of them here smile.gif.

as a hardcore fan of the precision tone, i would recommend any mexican P. U'd have to fork out about 1.5k for one but some of the mim ones are better than the mia ones. It's really worth it.

And no i don't own a P-Bass blush.gif tongue.gif

Ibanez BTB205? should fit pretty nicely in your budget and still have quite a few extra cash left tongue.gif. But for me, if i have rm2000, i wud wait to see if anyone is selling a second handed fender precision or a fender jazz smile.gif. do look at OLP also, they're really good, erm, well, some of them. I've tried one that is really really bad, one dat is OK, and one dat is really really good (so good, i almost accidentally took it back from the jam studio) tongue.gif. So make sure u try first. Do drop by @ JS music jalan imbi. The nicest music storepeople u will ever come across. smile.gif. I'm sure crazychris would testify to dat.

P.S. back to my question, are rope cables like fender rope generally better in terms of durability? Or do they make it just for show? tongue.gif.

err... when u say rope does that mean those cables that looks like cable seterika?? like some sort of woven exterior?

i have a couple of those i bought in the states... yes they are really durable... i mean they've lasted for more than 7 years... the only problem i have is that they are damn stiff so when they are tangled it's really hard to get them straightened up.... so now i switch to planet wave... the one with the shielded end... softer plus got that cable tie on it... hehehe... but maybe doesn't last as long...

Hi, I read from the OLP website saying that OLP is licensed by Musicman. Is it like Squier a licensed brand by Fender, like that?

Greetings,
I went to Lepo (a local music store) today, but I can't find any BTB205. Those that cought my eyes are GSRX 305 (RM1395) and BTB 555MP (RM2750). BTB 555MP sounds great and nice to grip and play although I'm not really used to 5-strings basses. I quite like the outlook of the bass too, but would be nicer if got some other colour other than light brown. BUT, the price is RM2750. So, is BTB 205 something like BTB555MP? how bout the price? and do you mind to give me the full address of JS music, cause I'm not from W.Malaysia...Thanks alot!

Actually, while Fender owns Squier and Gibson owns Epiphone, Ernie Ball/MM has nothing to do with OLP. OLP pays EB a royalty fee to copy the MM design ... so they can market their product in US and Europe without fear of copyright infringement. And which is why OLP is more expensive than SX.
Last I heard, OLP was discontinuing making MM copies ...
