well maybe battered was too harsh a word to use  tongue.gif , but you get my point.

ha ha biggrin.gif ... if someone's selling a bass for rm200, u can bet "battered" would be among its qualities ... i've seen a number of these, the first owner bought it to "have a bit of fun", and second owner "for a bit of a bash aorund" ... actually, if you can find a used SX in good condition, could be the answer ...

MMU is on sem break, most ppl r home. Maybe their hometown pc not coonected to broadband or just too lazy to come online....or busy lepak with kawan. Anyways happy Raya to all!!!

Anyways i went to studio for a recording session, realised my SX just aint cutting anymore, for recording at least. Firstly there are some 'dead spots' in the fret board, notes played on that fret just come out softer volume wise.
Then my slides are also soft, duno y.
And the thing dat really got to the sound engineer was the loud hissing/humming. Hahaha. Maybe its the wiring or shielding or just the stock pickups, i duno. So switched to Alda's Fender Highway One...no more dead spots or soft sliding but there was still buzzing/humming altho much less noticable. And if anyone is wondering, no i didn't play it single coil mode, both p'ups were full on, which make them humbucking. Tone knob set to full also.

Well, recording in a studio has been good experience for me. U realize things dat u normally wont when u practice/gig.

Man i need a real Fender...tapi tak ada duit. Sedih sekali. But recently been dreaming of Ricks, especially those in Fireglo finish. Huhuhu...dats even more expensive, darnnit.

NZX - Nice Fenders always available at HOB, if you have the budget ... smile.gif ... as for Ric, be warned that you have to adjust your playing style quite a bit ... i'm using Rics for Samarkand now, and the past 4 months of regular Ric usage still isn't enought to get me totally comfortable ... but the tone, man ... whichever amp you use, it's a Ric sound!

Ric prices these days are becoming quite silly, though .... too much demand, not enough supply ... I can sell my three-year-old Ric for 30% more than what I paid for it!

But if you can get ricks for the standard price, then it's a good investment. Although it is rather hard to get

Buy: Sorry, no such luck, no Ric dealer here and extremely rare that one turns up for sale at all. In the past five years, I've known of only one Ric bass that was put up for sale.

Find: Well, you can always visit HOB to check out what a Ric bass feels and looks like. I've got a 4003 and a 4001, both different sort of beasts ...

If you order new through Ric Asia, via Japan, that is, or through any US dealers willing to ship here (again, a rarity), the waiting list is 12-24 months. Actually, I am on the waiting list for another 4003 too ... blush.gif
