Tiger Brokers may actually dethrone IBKR, TD Ameritrade etc to be the easiest brokerage for Malaysians to open account and trade US stocks with next to nothing in commission fees.

Key benefits:-
1. They support mykad KYC out of the box and even approved my account over the weekend, crazy. rclxms.gif
2. If you have SG bank acc, it's brain dead easy to get started
3. If you don't have SG bank, read No Money Lah's guide as mentioned below.
4. It's regulated by Monetary Authority of Singapore, and use DBS as custodian.

Links:
- Tiger Brokers Homepage
- Fees table

Mentioned by Malaysia bloggers:
- No Money Lah - good guide for Malaysians to get started
- moneyblog.my

Tips:
1. Consider opening CIMB Singapore account instead of doing the expensive telegraphic transfers from your MYR bank account. Watch Ziet's video to learn how.
2. Telekom users will need to change your DNS to access Tiger Brokers. Telekom's own DNS blocks Tiger for unknown reasons, maybe because Tiger is on Suruhanjaya Sekuriti's watchlist.

How does this beat IBKR?
Doesn't have Europe stocks and interest rate for margin is higher.

I believe Tiger beats them in being "the easiest brokerage for Malaysians to open account" to trade in overseas markets. It's especially great for ikan bilis. Correct me if I am wrong.

Confirm the ease of opening for tiger brokers. Manage to get some cash back using the referral code too.

Best part is both party receive cash back.

I did consider Tiger Brokers during my search for foreign brokers but dropped it for few factors, mostly around establishment & international coverage/presence. Cost wise I don't find much differences compared to IBKR/TSG, but perks of signing up - definitely Tiger Brokers laugh.gif

Bought some US shares with it. So far so good.

Options trading requires opening margin account though, can’t wait to join wsb and get some tendies.

Tried to search for fee involving withdrawal, deposit, account, but nothing come up.
Is it free?

Saw from the blog, no third party money transfer so transfer wise and bigpay is no go?

dont think so. they are VERY expensive compared to IBKR.

for example, min $1.99 vs $0.35 per trade, 5.6 times higher. shocking.gif
$0.01/share vs 0.0035 per share, 2.8 times higher.

good thing is they provide real time quote for free.

If withdraw to DBS/POSB Singapore account, no withdrawal fee right?

A bit confused. If we transfer S$ from Singapore bank account to tiger brokers, it will remain in S$ in tiger brokers account right? It will only be in US$ if we choose to convert it to US$

It doesn't matter if we pick deposit SGD, USD, HKD deposit it still says DBS account, so maybe its a bit like DBS Vickers, they are using a multi-currency account?

honsiong I don't think they allow us to deposit USD or HKD directly into USD and HKD account right if we are Malaysian citizens? I think its more like we deposit SGD but then we can choose to convert the SGD into HKD or USD in Tiger Brokers?

I think lah, citizenship only matters when one signs up, the rest depends on whether you have SG bank account or not. I should have opened a DBS multi-currency acc to try before leaving SG, I think Tiger accepts USD and HKD if the transfer is done locally within SG.

If tak da SG bank acc, then have to send SGD over then convert in app, I think got a tiny spread.

In general withdrawal of SGD to any sg a/c is foc unless is in excess of SGD 200k.

Yes. If you transfer SGD to tiger it would remain as SGD. The tiger forex rate is much competitive vs bank so its worth to do conversion there.

If dont have SG bank ac I think more straight forward . Just wire the currency you need directly to tiger .

Even if you have SG bank ac with USD / HKD you still have to wire the amount as tiger does not accept cheque deposit. Exception case would be dbs where its just online transfer and no charge incurred.

Ahh..didn't know about the S$200k thingy. I guess like that, best to transfer multiple times in order to avoid the charges

No, Tiger Brokers do not allow buying of fractional shares like eToro does. If you want to buy fractional shares, need to use eToro but some counters are not available in eToro, not sure why as I do not use that.
The one advantage of buying US shares is that the minimum quantity you can buy is 1 share, so that makes it a lot more easier even if the share price is like Tesla. Still can buy 1 share and the cost also won't be that high.

Fractional lots, not shares. I don't know can buy fractional shares--first time I've heard of this. Yeah, some USA shares are damn expensive to buy 1 lot.

Has anybody transferred stocks from other brokers to Tiger Brokers? How long did it take and was there any problem?

Honsiong 1) Also, I transferred SGD from Singapore bank to Tiger Brokers. Noticed that they gave me a USD cash figure. Is it automatically they will convert my SGD to USD or is my $ still in SGD?

2) If I were to buy US stocks, is it I have to convert my SGD to USD first or will Tiger Brokers automatically convert for me when I buy the US stock

I know. I tried adding stocks to watchlist and couldn't do it. Wanted to buy some stock but due to app difficulty, until now never place order. Have to wait for when I'm in a better mood and more free to figure out how to use the app.

16791 I see. I finally managed to add stock to watchlist. However, noticed that I need to convert my SGD to USD before I can buy shares. Wish they would automatically convert it for me when I buy as I tend to use market order. By having to convert first, always have to convert extra as rate also indicative. Wish they would improve this part like how FSM does.

Each broker has their own system. Just have to get used to it . Tiger is good for reading info in HK stocks provided you can read in mandarin . Of course they can auto translate but I find it more difficult to read .

1) Having problems with the handphone app. It keeps asking me to log in (but there's no place/button to log in). All my individual orders/stocks are missing although under 'trade' I can see my total cash and total stocks $ . When I clicked on me--tiger account, it shows I have $0.

So how to log in? This app really weird. If I am really logged out, how come in some parts can see some of my stuff but in others, completely $0 and no orders fulfilled.

2) The commission free for 5 trades is only $0.99 and not $1.99? Anybody got the full $1.99?

Try using your 4G see whether you are able to solve the problem .

Ya the trade rebate is $0.99 . Didn't bother to ask why it's not $1.99.

I'm unable to perform deposit/ withdraw transaction with the error message below. Anyone facing this issue? Even their website is not accessible from mobile browser with same error.

Found solution below. It seems that its mobile app is blocked as well by TM?! Changed my DNS to Google DNS on my PC but never thought that they are able to block mobile app as well...

Android 9 supports "Private DNS" which uses DNS-over-TLS to provide security and privacy for your DNS queries. You can configure it with the following steps.

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced > Private DNS.
Select Private DNS provider hostname.
Enter dns.google as the hostname of the DNS provider.
Click Save.

I am no tech expert, but I can suspect so. VPN usage is likely the only means to access it. Try using Opera with VPN on to check.

They already blocked TD Ameritrade US website.

I am increasingly worried that they will move ahead with banning IBKR and TD Ameritrade SG. Last in their list would likely be FSM SG.

Too bad we poor Malaysians.

Yes I was looking at it. And I'm still weighing between IBKR and Tiger..

Primary reasons for Tiger for me is

1. Tradingview.com... IBKR seems to be delayed... i thought it was just the paper-trading simulator, but my friend who has a margin account said the delay is the same.
2. Fear of a class action lawsuit against IBKR after what they did last night. There isn't one filed yet, but RH already kena. Will the lawsuit affect the trading accounts?

The delay is obviously how they make money from you. If they straightaway provide you with real-time data they will make less money. There are business reasons behind. Brokerage business is cut-throat business especially in the US (think "commission-free" trading app and M&A between TDA and Schwab), so this is unsurprising.

If you are a trader then delayed data is unacceptable, but for long-term investors, the 1-2 minute delay in an uneventful day would not really have a big impact in your long-run profits. Plus IBKR's P&L data is in real-time, with a bit of maths, you can work out the actual securities' price easily.

Lawsuits are the norm in any brokerage firms. Tiger is backed by IBKR as well. tongue.gif And not to mention Tiger has its own problem: https://geoinvesting.com/up-fintech-holding...ndering-scheme/

FINRA has a database that list out lawsuits by firm, I think.

https://brokercheck.finra.org/

You need to be prepared for all these when you begin investing. This is part and parcel of investing.

Don't forget Tiger macam using IBKR at the back.

BTW webull CEO macam came out and explained why they all blocked buying, it's not because of manipulation on brokers' end.

You need to be prepared for all these when you begin investing. This is part and parcel of investing.

My 6th sense is telling me that they are clamping down hard on foreign brokers. I only trust FSM SG and IBKR. Too few options. tongue.gif

Monopolistic practice by banks and local brokerage firms due to over-regulation and stupid currency control by the Central Bank of Malaysia means opening up of foreign brokerage business is unlikely to materialize anytime soon. Keep our fingers crossed.

Strange, I am able to use Tiger on Time fiber and Yoodo cellular without VPN.

For Telekom users, try change your DNS before subscribing to VPN please.

Yes, you guys will need to change the DNS for your devices/current wifi network. Apprently TM blocks tigerbrokers for whatever reason.

Change your DNS to Google's DNS(s)
1) 8.8.8.8
2) 8.8.4.4

If you are using iPhone, go to your wifi and then you will see a (!) icon, click that, and change DNS from "Automaitc" to "Manually". Remove those previous DNS(s) by clicking (-) and add both Google DNS.

Hope it can you anyone of you here not being able to load tigerbroker's website and app.

Im just worried that they might find out that is not my TIN (its my IC no) since for Malaysians have seperate TIN number...how ah?

TIN number is free to register, you don't need to work at all to get a TIN number for individu (with SG- prefix, nothing to do with Singapore).

Please fill out the individu form on edaftar.hasil.gov.my.

Filling out wrong TIN number is likely a tax offence, don't mess around with tax authorities.

Eh...if he asked for it, doesn't it mean he has to file income tax every year? I think previously there was a student that managed to open a brokerage account but don't think it's with Tiger brokers (I think it was with IB). Not sure.

It has nothing to do with filing tax every year. Financial institutions just want your country’s TIN to comply with OECD Common Reporting Standard, so they can inform LHDN if you do anything funny abroad.

I think eToro's slowness is because many people are trying to open account with them due to the Gme stock.

thanks for info, so far been testing them out for a week. approval with IC and driving license took a day.
funding was kinda slow though, sent money from sg bank via FAST early morning and they only credited in my trade account later in the day at 6.30pm.
finding stock and buying options seem easy enough, only used their ios app.

If Tiger Brokers is regulated and approed by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), no worry at all unless you think MAS is less credible/professional than our SC.

Anybody having trouble depositing $ recently into Tiger Brokers? Have been trying whole day to deposit $ but when I clicked deposit, received message : "cannot GET/deposit-backend/api/v1/personal/deposit/......."

I did test withdrawing $ today and no problem on withdrawing but don't seem to be able to deposit

Hi guys. What is the easiest way to deposit fund into tiger broker? I've used public bank's Telegraphic transfer and it requires me to personally go to the counter to submit some form or registration in order to proceed with overseas investment related transaction. Any other alternative?

The easiest way is to deposit it via FAST but that requires you to have a SG bank account.

They actually checked for sender's name, I couldn't help my friend transfer, there is a chance transferwise won't work.

Test with SGD or USD 1 and report here.

Do you know if its possible to use BigPay to transfer from CIMB SG to CIMB MY at those rates too or would TransferWise be cheaper?

I have some questions, anyone can enlighten me ?

1) I just transferred some USD from Maybank Malaysia M2U into my Tiger Broker account. I transfered USD130, M2U shows in Ringgit amount as RM545.42 + RM10 service fee.
Took less than 2 hours for Tiger Broker account to show money received, but only USD105 received. Any idea what happened ?
Currently I'm queuing on Tiger Broker chat to check.

2) Withdrawing from Tiger Broker account. To withdraw, it wants me to put in my bank details. And one of the field is currency. I don't have a USD account, can I still put in my Maybank Malaysia account details to withdraw ?

USD 25 fee sounds terrible, try look around and chat them up. Alternatively, please just open CIMB Singapore to save the forex fees.

You open a CIMB Singapore account, then use transferwise to send from MYR to CIMB SG (0.6%), then FAST to Tiger (free). Like that you avoid all the high fees already.

Even better, you call up your friends working in SG and trade SGD MYR with them.

hi bro, want to ask how does this work ya? Say want to transfer RM1K. So TW choose MYR to SGD? Then input my CIMB SG bank account number.

Then from CIMB SGD change to Tiger Broker USD? So means double charges in conversion right (TW -> CIMB SG #1 and CIMB SG > Tiger #2).

It's more like local bank (MYR) -> TW -> CIMB SG (SGD) -> Tiger (SGD)

Then within Tiger app, convert SGD into USD.
Yes, is double, but the conversion within Tiger is minimal

CIMB customer service will call you to perform verification & ask you to perform a transfer of Sgd1k to the account to "activate" it. Not really necessary I would say as I just transferred SGD 10 from my CIMB MY account to the new account and was able to transact using the new SG account with no issue.

hey there, ya i transferred as per the video suggested. Basically, you will receive an email from CIMB SG with a bank account number that's under your name. So technically, should be no issues cuz you're sending money to your own bank account.

But I've yet to receive any phone call from CIMB SG lah already 3 working days haha. A bit worried because no email and SMS also lol. And I transferred RM10K instead cuz didnt want to do multiple times.

Nope. Don't feel like going through all the hassle and difference is not that much. If not mistaken I've calculated previously u will save like RM10 per RM1k? So transfer between my CIMB SG and CIMB MY is still most convenient for me.

CIMB "guarantees" best rate per the promotion ad below so I believe it's better than other local banks but for sure cannot compare with Fintech players laa...

Hi,
When I want to transfer from CIMB Singapore to Tiger Brokers, the only 2nd factor authenticatioin option is from a security device. I don't have that security device. Any other way?

Nevermind, just found out have to install CIMB Singapore app and set a digital token using the app ;p

I always do market order so dunno stop loss etc LOL.

Deposit system is huge upgrade. In Moomoo, they create a DBS account for everyone to deposit to. So you don't need to write reference number etc.

Once you deposit liao, no need to inform them, they auto detect in 1 minute (tried 2 times).

Thanks for sharing!!
I've been using Tiger for months now and can say that it's not the best trading app around but still so much better than most of the local brokerages. Nonetheless, just to name some of the cons of this app:

1. Can't login to the mobile app at times if you have unstable connection on the go but the app will say your PW is invalid instead!
2. App feels sloppy at times but i guess most of the chinese apps are like that, e.g. wechat, etc.
3. Its interface is a direct translation from chinese to english which is poorly done for some of the sections/ guides/ explanations.

I think from the look of it MooMoo & Tiger are very similar but will give it a try to see if it has the same issues above or not.

Stop-loss is not widely used these days. It's banned from many exchanges because of this https://www.cnbc.com/2015/11/18/why-will-th...top-orders.html

Limit orders are more common. Try limit order. Useful to prevent sudden volatile movement in the market.

It won't end. After Tiger, you have MooMoo, after Moomoo others will come too. The entry barrier isn't high in the brokerage market, unlike banks. Profit margin is high, it's too attractive to ignore, more so given the scalability of the business. Suggest you guys to stick to one or two brokers. Too many brokers will make management a hassle. Again, don't be fooled by too many sweet deals. Aim for the long-term usage, not just upfront gifts.

Just my 2 cents.

See first post. Tiger Brokers is being DNS blocked by at least Telekom Unifi. Change DNS on your routers, phones, computers to combination of 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4.

It's good and more competitive means more choices for consumer, well tbh consumer are also choosing and experiencing each platform and they have their own reason whether to stay or move on to which platform. If a new platform offer more convenience, better transaction fee, why not to move? You're not marry to them and have to stay with them for the whole life though. As long as it is legit and trustable for your investment safety, why not?

You are certainly right, from a customer's point of view.

What I am commenting on is their marketing strategy and business strategy. Customers can choose, nothing wrong, but brokerage account is not like FD account where you can withdraw and close then move to a new one with better FD rates. The cost of moving around, searching, experiencing involves cost (from economics point of view), something the user must factor in when making choices.

So I advocate users to look for the long-run, not to be "fooled" by short-term incentives like "welcome gifts". There are a lot more potential entrant players into brokerage business. Revolut, Stashaway, Ant Financial, WeLab, and the fintech startup players from Indonesia.

If you keep trying, it won't end anytime soon. But in the end, you will have to settle down to one brokerage account. (I do not know anyone who keep moving their brokerage account from one broker to another, some brokers actually charge a fee if clients move funds out of them).

Well I partially agree with you, new players will come in, and the competition between tiger and moomoo will go on giving away perks to gain market share. Just like what uber and grab was doing. Regarding to the cost you mentioned, I think everyone will play with the scale, it is just trying, its not that you bank in 2000sgd into that account and you have to move all your shares there? Like what I am doing, I used bank as my trading platform, and I slowly transfer my capital over when I cash out and close my position.regarding to your cost of transfer, If you find it not useful compared to your previous platform, you can always close your position and shift to a new platform. I guess with the low transaction fee I don't think it will cost much. Unless you're a hidden superinvestor who is managing few million of share. Else that you are so busy that you won't have even time to spend understanding the platform before you start. Especially we have such a glad platform like this to let each and everyone of us know about new platforms with plenty of useful info's given and sharing useful experiences which greatly decrease our time to do research.

TD don't need long to open also . But transaction fee is really low vs tiger . But don't have freebies for new customers vs tiger.

TD also has very comprehensive report on your portfolio .

Sorry. Got confuse . Referring to IBKR not TD.

Freebies again laugh.gif

Come on, lower commissions in the long run, good UI, good customer support, stable platform with minimal downtime etc. still matter more than that one-time freebies. Why can't people realize that this is just a marketing trick lol.

Look at the practical side. Not some free stocks, coupons, no-commission period for 3 month etc.

Is just a middle man providing you a platform for you to trade shares, as long as they are properly regulated, any one will do.

Macam no eh, even though London and Shanghai show up in the app, we can only trade US HK SG.

Oh gosh, tiger customer service is so bad. They expand blindly without even keep their service and support in line. I take a week to contact them, calling through the line take me about 1 hour holding on the line! The online chat system 70 plus person in the queue, and 20 minutes only get through 15 people. The worst part is you gonna click the screen every 5 minutes if not they will disconnect you from the chat.
On the other hand moomoo only take like 1 to 2 minutes to reeach their online cs. I think I gonna switch back to moo!

It's possible. Look up this Stock Connect thing. https://www.hkex.com.hk/Mutual-Market/Stock...nect?sc_lang=en

https://www.hkex.com.hk/-/media/HKEX-Market...tor_Book_En.pdf

Tiger allows A Shares trading anyway. https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/commissions/fees/stocks_etf

Not sure if that one has any restriction. Stock connect route certainly no issue.

I don't use Tiger, but nowhere in the website points to ineligibility of trading, for me. You may want to contact them to ask for info.

https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/help/detail/china-a-shares

This site clearly mentions the northbound trading via stockconnect. https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/help/detail...ducts-available

No restrictions are mentioned in either page.

Anyone trade China A share with tiger before? It might be that they copy this from China and hk website and have not change the content. Anyway I'm so fed up with their customer service and gave up on putting up any enquiry

Hmm funny. IBKR just apply for permission then can trade northbound. Most brokerage service offer HK stock connect services too.

Wait for others to reply.

I started trading the US market today using tiger. I did not exchange the currency to USD yet i still able to make 10 trades in USD.

Isn’t this better than moomoo in which we have to exchge SGD to USD first and incur forex losses?

Think i gonna withdraw my moomoo money and put into tiger.

Bruh, you probably accidentally borrowed USD and not used the SGD you deposited. They will charge you interest rates.

You have to exchange SGD to USD manually first, the exchange rate is roughly same as moomoo.

Regarding for china market's question, Tiger broker replied me as below: -

Hi, we support trading China A-shares listed in HKEX Northbound Trading (except GEM stocks (code starting with 300) and STAR stocks (code starting with 688)). For more at https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/.../products-available.
You may use CNY to buy Shanghai and Shenzhen stock. Pls do remember to exchange the currency if you deposit to tiger account in SGD. The settlement date for currency exchange is T+2. Pls refer to https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/.../detail/currency-exchange.

May you pls private msg us your tiger account number with a screenshot of the message stating that prime acc does not support the trading so that our CS team can help to check for you? Thank you!

Besides this, May I ask any recommended of websites have analysis tool such as dividend yield, market cap, ROE, profit got increase in 3 years?

Thanks for the update.

Regarding the website that you requested, which country's data are you looking for? Usually Yahoo finance has a bunch of them, also look for investing.com

Sure. I take Ping An Insurance A shares stock code 601318 as example

Yahoo finance: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/601318.SS/k...ics?p=601318.SS

Investing.com: https://www.investing.com/equities/cn-ping-an-ratios

Etnet (HK): http://www.etnet.com.hk/www/tc/ashares/quote.php?code=601318

Etnet (China): http://www.etnetchina.com.cn/ashares (search for stock code 601318)

(There is English quote for H-shares, not sure why switching page to English don't work for A shares.)

Aastocks: http://www.aastocks.com/en/cnhk/quote/deta...shsymbol=601318

Anyone knows if Tiger brokers level 2 data access to US stock market is free forever, or will you need to purchase it at a latter junction?

I notice that to gain level 2 access for NASDAQ, you need to pay 26USD a month.

Hi, wish to share that

To qualify for free share with Tiger Brokers, the very first deposit with them needs to be at least SGD 2000.

I signed up and deposited SGD 100 + SGD 1900 (total of SGD 2000). They explained that this did not fulfil the requirements of promotion so I would not receive the free Star bucks share.

The withdrawal to CIMB Singapore took about 30 minutes from when a request was submitted.

For Moomoo, I signed up from the UK and received free Apple share. The promotion was invalid with my UK IP address, so I used VPN to Singapore.

Moomoo was happy to receive deposits in smaller amounts until achieving a total of SGD 2700 - with no withdrawals in between - to fulfil the requirements for a free Apple share

(Unlike the Tiger Brokers which only offered one chance at first deposit only)

I registered thursday 13/5 and funded it right away, the SBUX share was processed the next day 14/5 and I can sell the free share without having to perform 10 trades beforehand. I saw the requirement right after I signed up.

Just go for it before they execute the new rule.. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/activity/forapp/welcome/

It's on the top of the website banner... hopefully you willl get to register and sell the share
Otherwise 10trades equivalent of USD 1 or greater for each trade will qualify. Hope it helps!

PS Anyone need a referral code can PM me thank you

Hey guy, I saw the promotion stated:

1) 60 commission-free trades within 180 days
2) A client who completes account opening will receive 60 commission-free trades for U.S. stocks, H.K. stocks, Singapore stocks and Futures within 180 days.

Is that mean I can buy share without paying broker fee/charges?

You still need to pay $1 platform fee, you just save $0.99 per trade.

Thanks for replying!.
Assuming trade like normal (without promotion) is 1.99 USD / Order.

I bought $1,000 of shares, so the total fees is $1.99 right?
No extra charges?

Eh something changed. Moomoo isn’t detecting deposit live anymore from my latest experiences.

Tiger detect latest at 9.30AM, Moomoo latest at 8.30AM.

Hey guys, plan to open CIMB SG and Tiger account right away, but due to my limited funds, I want to ask the minimum possible amount.

For CIMB SG, I need 1k SGD, upon successful application, can I use the 1k SGD from CIMB SG to reload Tiger Brokerage by adding another 1k SGD?

which means total amount I put in would be 2k SGD from opening CIMB SG account to reloading Tiger brokerage, is this allowed?

iirc dont need to keep SGD 1k inside but check their min balance anyway.

OCBC 365 in SG needs S$ 3000, Maybank needs S$ 500.

Share my experience opening an account here. Overall very quick and painless experience. Account setup was easy, verified my ID using MyKad and selfie, plus proof of residential address. Doing so requires zero funds and if signing up via referral, this alone will give your referrer SGD60. Not bad.

Now after transferring SGD2k into my Tiger account it reflected in about 10 minutes. But it converts the funds into USD (at least displays in USD in the app), so I saw that I had USD1502 to play with. Putting in SGD2k gives your referrer SGD30. Also not bad.

Shortly after the free SBUX reward shows up as 'Processing'. This one also not bad.

US don't really use CDS/CDP like us in MY SG. Stocks are parked under brokers aka street names.

Our only protection is cross check records on FINRA, NYSE, Nasdaq, and Singapore MAS directory.

I have experienced after transferring SGD to tiger account it would not auto covert to USD. It display is USD but it still SGD.

Although you able to buy US stock but it was money loan from tiger and you should pay included interest to them.

Open tiger app > Me > Tiger Account > Prime Account > look does repayment in there ?

Click Repayment.

Better exchange SGD to USD before buy US Stock.

You're right. It was just displaying in USD, so I converted SGD to USD, then bought the USA version of a penny stock (USD1-5 per share). I bought a share for USD1.10, then sold it again. Total transaction fees were about $4 ($1 minimum trade brokerage fee + $1 platform fee per trade, times two). The commission free promotion gave me back $2.

These USA trading accounts are good for when you want to ride on the Reddit retail buyers wave, e.g. GameSpot or AMC shares... 😋

I know I am the TS, but I just moved everything to Moomoo. I deem Moomoo safer because:

- App is much nicer, almost no issues with English localisation
- Everyone is given a diff 11 digits DBS account number to deposit SGD into - much better and faster than Tiger recipient ref code

Tiger is likely safe, but they need to put more effort into looking more legitimate

BTW I noticed the withdrawal page wasn't loading on iOS app, so I withdrew from their website.

Sold liao stocks, kena wait 2 days before settlement.

need your advise here. I opened CIMB SG and a tiger broker account successfully. Now I want to transfer money from CIMB SG to Tiger Broker.

Bank to Tiger Broker is DBS Bank.

When I try to perform the fund transfer, CIMB SG does not have the bank option to transfer to DBS Bank. Feel so weird

Anyone has such experience to transfer the money from CIMB SG to Tiger Broker(DBS Bank) please?

Thank you for replying. I linked CIMB SG to CIMB Malaysia in CIMB Clicks Malaysia. I cannot perform the transfer via CIMB Clicks Malaysia?

I have to apply CIMB Clicks Singapore in order to perform the transfer?

Yes. You should get a first time login pin via SMS after your account is fully activated, which is after CIMB SG call you to verify details...

You can read the Tiger website:
https://www.tigerbrokers.com.sg/help/detail/account-funding

"Tiger currently accepts the following methods of deposit "
(and read the table).

Hi friends,
I'm an investor mostly in Unit trust and robo advisor platform "STASHAWAY".
Actually looking to invest in US based index fund
Preferring to invest in VOO (Vanguard s&p 500 index etf) via TIGER BROKERS.
I don't have bank accounts in Singapore. If any deposits and withdrawal to and from TIGER BROKERS will be charged higher fees?
Is it safe to invest in tiger brokers from Malaysia?

Anyone from Malaysia, can share your experience and opinions using these trading platform?

Tq

I think Best way still convert the sgd to hkd with tiger.

Becos wise won’t be able to deposit hkd to your Cimb sg . That’s assuming your Cimb sg has hkd ac .

Heads-up for anyone who planning to contact CS. The online chat is pretty much not helpful, just a regurgitation of FAQ or redirecting you to email customer service instead.

So, just email them directly. Save time. Their email CS is quite efficient also.

Hi guys, I have 20 stock vouchers of 60 SGDs, what's the best way to utilize it ?

It's hard to find share price that's exactly cost 60 SGD, any recommendation?

I only reloaded $2k exactly, can't afford to spend more than 60 SGD per order

Screenshot? i thought stock voucher just means cash value in your account, so you can technically invest or withdraw S$ 1200.

You might just have to buy US shares, as you can buy 1 share.

For SG, it's gonna be hard given it is in blocks. Another way is maybe you buy a share, get the rebate, and sell it and repeat.

if any kind forummer here got experience please share the best way
*
Just redeem voucher, buy share, redeem voucher, buy share, until you finish.

The cash rebate comes into your account 1-2 days after that.

The cash rebate also gives you more money to buy more stocks so you're not limited to your original 2k.

Just to share my experience, managed to find the easiest way to utilize the stock voucher in SGD denomination.

The best counter imo to buy is "ES3", full name STI ETF.

20 units cost around $63+-, easy to buy and sell as the bid-ask spread not that wide.

Managed to use this counter and cashed out 5-6 vouchers per day compared to my first few days randomly buying penny stocks where managed to redeem maximum 3 vouchers per day only.

How long will we receive the free shares after making the first deposit? I read that the very first deposit must be at least SGD 2000 to qualify for the promotion. Splitting the amount into several smaller transactions will disqualify.

If you register your account within the promotion period (ending 30th June) and meet the deposit requirements, you will get the free shares within 10 working days. Yes the First Deposit must be at least SGD 2000.

Another question, are we able to withdraw our first deposit even the free share is still processing? The terms only says withdraw the proceeds generated from the free share(s) after you have successfully completed 10 trades (The value of stocks in each trade must be greater than 1 USD or equivalent currencies).

for those who remit directly from local bank to tiger broker, how long does the money received?
also, service like hong leong bank superremit (https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/remittance/super-remit/super-remit.html) is acceptable deposit method?

dear sifus, my dad is using tiger broker and we spent 10 minutes trying to find out how to see his portfolio to no avail.

Can anyone enlighten me on how to see all the stocks he has bought in a portfolio view?

The assets tab seem to be useless because it only shows values and numbers.

Another trick found while using stock voucher in Tiger

If you have a stock voucher in different denomination than SGD, it is still advisable to redeem the stock voucher on SG trades.

For example, in this picture, I had a 50 HKD stock voucher to be redeemed, I traded the ES3 counter for 10 units (around 30SGD), the rebated amount from the 50 HKD comes out to be 9.01 SGD (as highlighted in screenshot).

9.01 SGD in today's rate (29/6/21) is equivalent to 52+HKD,

therefore you actually gain higher value than the face value of the voucher thumbup.gif

Good question . After you ask I also try to figure out how to do .

Trade - Analysis - Stock PnL

Interactive brokers has this deliver to you which I find it better than tiger . But than tiger maybe is more app focus.

I just started using powrbroaking yesterday for foreign trade. Been using it for my local stock trade. So it was a natural choice.

Was quite disappointed.

1. No app
2. I bought a stock yesterday night (Nasdaq). The transaction was not immediate. Even though fulfilled, it was not reflected in my portfolio until now.

I actually have a Maybank Singapore Account.

Fees is normal la..I am ok , its expected anyway. Just need to be sure that I can transfer back to Malaysia.

Bear with me as I am new.

Assuming I have a Maybank Sg account. How should I do it?

1. Transfer from Maybank Malaysia direct to Tiger Account
2. Transfer from Maybank Malaysia to Maybank Singapore then to Tiger Account ?

If you have SG acc, why still want to use option no.1?

Option 2 is viable but not the best.

Best method that is frequently used by investors here is use fintech companies (Wise/Instarem/Bigpay) to transfer to SG bank account, then only reload Tiger with SG bank account.

Right, just afraid of hidden charges like agent fee from MBB SGD20 per transaction.
Calculated if using TT with all the nonsense fees, only managed to earn 5% on capital
*
By the time you want to withdraw, your SG Bank account should be ready. You will get more than 5%.

Opening cimb sg took a week for me.

Bank in using cimb local FAST transfer. Reflected in tiger account in less than 15 min.

Free apple stock completed processing in 3 days.

Bought my first stock in tiger so far no issue.

*
Now the T&C said need to do 10 trades in order to be eligible for the free shares.
What stock to trade leh?
can buy/sell instantly? Considered as gaming the system?

Hi can I know what's the benefit for you to invest using Singapore broker vs local broker?

Now can invest using local maybank too right? Rather than transfer from from bank to bank and incurred bank charges.

For the record I am using maybank to invest locally and just started using tiger as well.

I heard that for eevery SGD2000 deposit will be entitled to 1 APPL share, is the deal still valid ? Say that I just deposit the money in for the sake of getting the APPL share without buying other stock , how long shall I wait before I can withdraw the SGD2000 ?

You can withdraw as soon as you're qualified in the app.

They support mykad account opening. Plus anyone here can just get CIMB Singapore account, so we can technically say it's available in Msia, just not licenced by Malaysia regulator SC.

If you are already in SG, then just use SGD as you still need to convert to USD to buy US stocks.
