on the interview, the participant was more than 10 people.b4 interview, need to take test...need to take 4 test...on my thought,i assume that there was  an interview between interviewer and participant only..

Wow
I didn't see this reply till today.
Actually nothing wrong, I think you misinterpret what I said.
Just that I know the CEO and some of the top brass, and I so happen to see them at LCCT when I was sending someone off smile.gif

On another note, think my friend is still working there. Seem to be doing well

Hi guys.

You guys know the 'Train & Place Programme' advertised on newspapers?
I got a call for an interview from SCICOM Academy, Menara TA One.
Monday, 10.00pm. 11th Floor. 21621088 (ext #4)

Management position.

So, just wondering whether some of you got the same call.
Wish to know what type of job they're offering.

I know this is not about working in Scicom, just to answer some questions about the training conducted by Scicom.

The 4 tests were very easy. english, some math, iq and i forgot what else. The interview session was not really an interview, more to the person explaining to you what the program is about, whether you're interested, advantage taking the course bla bla bla...then he'll give the offer letter, you sign you go home.

Intake once every 2 weeks I think. Training conducted in Stamford College Jalan Barat PJ and the Menara TA One, depends on which batch you are in.

This program is sponsored by Mdec. Job Camp Training in something Call Centre Operation something....2 months, teach you communication skills, english, presentation, grooming, theory about contact centre etc...the class was fun, met great friends, the trainers were awesome, some have experience working as agents, some don't.. Learnt a lot. Have to do assignments, presentation, role play, class activities.

One of the condition is you cannot work with Scicom but only with the 'employer partner'. Very smart, them to have that in the contract. That way the graduates can't force Scicom to offer the grads the jobs. So no questions about bonding whatsoever.Because the job guarantee is a lie, they can't even offer us an interview guarantee. The employer partner don't come that often to conduct the interview session. Have to wait weeks before one comes. Many graduates still don't have chance to be interviewed yet ,that now we are looking for jobs  ourselves, which we don't mind doing except we were promised in the beginning we are going to get a job easily after this training. Some poor friends of mine even quit their jobs before joining this program.

Allowance is not RM500 permonth but RM25 perday. If it's public holiday and no class that day, you won't get paid. Sometimes you get paid once  a week, sometimes you don't. Many excuses were given..blablabla...

If you don't have anything to do, not desperate for job. have money to survive with rm125 a week,no car loan, house loan to be paid and you just want to brushen up your soft skills, then you can join. You'll learn something out of this and you'll be given a cert from BTEC Level 3 call centre something. That cert might come in handy, who  knows.

but if you are desperate for job, have many bills to be paid and tempted by the 'job guarantee' line. then DON'T! DONT and DON'T! You'll get a job as a Steammeat agent faster than you'll get an interview after the training.

You are obviously one of the students in the programme, and probably didn't do very well, which is why you seem to have mixed feelings about this programme. There is no condition that states you cannot work with Scicom - perhaps you didn't read the letter properly? If you actually spent more time to think about it, logically, it makes more sense to Scicom to employ the students once they are done with the programme. After all, the students are certified internationally and have the necessary skills needed for the industry. But, how would it look if all the students they train joined Scicom? It's as if, Scicom was being paid by the government to train their own employees. How fair is that to other employers? So, dude, I think you definitely got this whole thing pinned wrongly. You should give some credit to Scicom for trying to do something for the country.

It's unfortunate that you have such negative comments about this job camp. It's the first time the government's doing something for us local graduates. Face it, we are jack shit compared against the world. We may have the smarts, but we certainly don't have what it takes to be an international employee.

I have friends who were part of this job camp, and they managed to meet multiple employers WHILE they were still in class. Many of them were so excited to be able to secure so many interviews with big companies. Some also secured employment before they even completed their course. You must've been shit outta luck to not have met any employers.

BTW, RM25 per day = RM125 per week = RM500 per month. That's simple math. How could you get that wrong? Plus, what kinda doofus expects to be paid on a public holiday when you're not even doing anything? You don't appear very bright, suddenly.

Look, I don't mean to put you down. I just feel that you're not doing justice to what this programme has done for you. Unless, you're saying that you haven't really learned any life-long lessons. If everything was so easy, what value is there in life? I've seen exceptional case studies from this programme where people are transformed. It's a pity you don't.

hi guys, i just received a call from scicom for interview (this coming monday) as management trainnee (for 2mths) + i think should be customer service relationship department

i'm from a psych background (degree)...so, i was wondering...is this a good place to start the job?

the corporate culture doesn't sound very nice from the 5 pages of content i've read...however, a lot mentioned that the salary is pretty good...which i must agree (they told me through the phone that the basic was 2.5k and also there will be additional incentives to top up the amount)

so, from what i managed to get from these 5 pages of content is that this place is a call centre, and...if you are working on a shift job...it won't be "fun"?...does the work begin from 9am-5pm as my job position mentioned?...or is there odd hours and public holiday shifts invovled as well?

personally though, i don't like sitting in the office day in and out listening to calls...and i would like to have a field job in the future...so, by being with scicom, will it be possible for me to go to other fields and not stick to the customer service indoor line after they have "outsourced" me or sumthing like that?

thanks much

My colleague's use to work with them, now he's the QA Manager for AIG call center, he told me that Scicom really squeeze your freedom, if you work shift and want to apply for AL quite hard.

Hi ejiema,

I got offer from Scicom lately, I'm not sure whether want to accept or not. Can I have your friend's advice since he worked with Scicom before?

Thanks.

I was told this one for Multi Purpose Insurance Bhd. It's located in Cyberjaya. Working environment wise, it seems it can be tense at times but most of time it's fine working for this project.

well, as posted earlier...i went for the training over there, completed it...and i mean if you really are "weak" in english and would probably consider working in a contact center...then maybe you can consider going there

however, if you have a strong grasp in english, just apply for the contact center position directly...don't need to "waste" your time training here...unless you really have nothing else better to do...or maybe you would like to help out the other students there to provide some guidance to improve their grasp of english

my conclusion statement is that, the program may be 85% a waste of time if you have a strong grasp in english and don't have any plans to work as a contact centre agent...

the remaining 15% is that you can fill your extra time if you really have nothing to do BUT you MUST continue to apply for jobs while you are undergoing training there...and when you are called up for interviews...go for them (don't need to attend the class), and if you are able to secure the job (and you like that job)...you can leave the training center as soon as possible

the salary range is a deception...just don't buy into that "THAT" much...if you get what i mean

AirAsia-10hrs on the job
Singtel-please call back your SG cust if not; get fired

Call centers salary is tempting, however you're gonna be stuck in quicksand, by the years gone by it will be hard for you to work in a different industry

Really hoping that I get this one, tired of sitting at home doing nothing d. Hehe. Will there be any sorts of ability test? And how many panels in the interview section? Will the interview be more on the tecnical part or what? Thanks for replying to my question!
