Not true at all.. it run just perfectly fine.
Go install it, test it out urself, u'll be amazed. no joke about this..

Best of both OS in a machine, be it ARM or X86 architecture based programs.

Hi sifus, planning to jump back into Apple wagon, because of the M1 of course. Just wondering on which one I should get (be it MBA or MBP) based on my usage below:

Current:
1) Productivity tools (Browsers/Google Workspace/MS Suite/light editing)
2) Netflix and other streaming services
3) Parallel to W10

Future:
1) image and video editing (non-hardcore)
2) light gaming like nothing beyond eSport titles

With the above requirements, should I get 256gb or 512gb variant? Apple tax on storage is too high, just wondering if I can get away with 256gb even with parallel inside. (but, buying Apple means buy now or we'll be stuck without upgrades forever)

In terms of RAM, I believe I shall get the 16gb to have better longevity/resale value in the next coup years.

Would the 7 vs 8 gpu cores matter here?

If depends on my budget, I can buy whichever variants, just trying to make a smarter decision only.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Generally MBP will be more suitable.
Fan for long hour of extensive CPU+GPU load
16GB RAM for hardcore multitasking
>256GB storage for installing lots of apps, editing plugin, (if you can get away with external SSD, then should be ok for viewing files or editing video.)

I use MBA because I do simple task only. I just need fast laptop and good battery life. If really do hard core thing, better wait for desktop class.

HI, I think my usage is fairly normal though, nothing hardcore.

BTW, your MBA is base model or the other? (ssd upgrade/ram or both)

If gaming also, need more storage. 256 really not enough. Your esport game how big after install? 30GB? Normally, I calculate roughly how much I need to use then I double up. For me, I use only 50-90GB only, so 256GB will be enough. If fully utilize the storage >80%, then system will be laggy. Just my experience.

I use safari 10 tabs, brave 15 tabs. Light on Microsoft Words and excel. 2 iPad games, mouse tweak, Facebook messenger. All open at once no problem. I would say these pretty consider normal usage. I think m1 is too fast. So ya, I just feel snappy. BTW, MBA really no heating issue, not even warm. I only feel warm if downloading large app from slow internet or photo editing. That’s it. Hope my experience is relatable to you.

Damn, looks like the base model is quite punchy enough to do almost everything haha. Thanks for the feedback, bro

Hi , just asking for some insight .

Is the Macbook Air M1 really worth the hype ? Currently using a surface pro7 as my portable device . So far the pro7 has been OK , but definitely didn't reach my expectations and the battery life is quite abysmal as far as 2in1 laptops go. Not to mention how bad tablet mode is for windows10. Intel portable chips just suck , It throttles way too much as soon as I open heavy programs like resolve and adobe apps.

A part of me had me thinking of just selling the pro7 to get the MB Air .

So can I ask from current owners , how is it? Has the display been good for you so far ? How's the performance ? Seeing the videos of M1s performance definitely got me hyped.

Do you think its really worth it to drop the stylus support and tablet mode as well as x64 and windows exe. programs for it? Might consider just getting the usual 'conservative' laptop experience if the m1 is truly as exceptional as what people deem it to be.

Thanks in advance!

Although Apple may be able to launch M2 MBP, be prepared for months of shipping lead time due to parts shortage. Even the iPad Pro (recently launched) has shipping time for USA slipped to July and Malaysia haven't even launch yet.
