Yes. So damn convenient. No need to tape around ur SIM card. I was telling this to uncle Benny since the launch of esim on iPhone XS which benefit travellers but everyone goes on and rant about wanting a dual sim card.
*
Yea, this is definitely convenient actually by just adding eSim profile biggrin.gif

I was actually denying this like others of having physical until i saw the beauty of eSim later on

no doubts 120Mhz is a plus and should have move to usb-c, these two seems everyone are hoping to be at least in the 12 lineup

and next year Apple remove port, then remove cable... further cut down carbon emission...  doh.gif
*
hahaha....removing charging port is just my wild guess, but they Jony Ive always have this portless single slab of glass phone idea since long time ago.

But putting it as further cut down carbon emission is a good idea though laugh.gif

Flagship Android phones prices getting higher because they make profit via the hardware with excuses like Qualcomm 5G modem expensive etc. Apple is now getting more revenue from Services, hence they no longer sell iphone at such high margin. Makes sense for Apple to get more people into their eco system so that they earn from Services revenue.

I thought I will get iphone and make the painful switch from Android to Apple. Apple software much more stable than Android and the support cycle much longer. But the 120Hz screen... I need faster refresh rate because I read a lot from phones... my eyes getting painful...

120Hz does help reading?

Doens't exactly helps on reading at all but it will actually elevates the whole device experience. Imagine navigating through (90/120hz) with this already fluid iOS device, watching videos with fast movement scene, gaming and etc. I don't see how it is a "plus" feature, at that given price point and the availability of the technology year 2020. Smartphone usage surpass any other device that you use today, it is no-brainer thing to add this feature to elevate the premium experience that apple has to offer. I guess apple will come out next year with 50/100 dollar increase in price for adoption of this technology.

Wouldn't complain if they didn't add in iphone 12 mini and iphone 12 because of the price affordability. But on the pro? What the hell. Guess that saves me some money by getting the i12 mini this time around haha.
My mind might changed because of the battery tho, with 4g or even 5g (in the future) and location + airpod pro on together no idea if the device can last me a day lol.

You should still consider to switch over to apple tho if you are not utilizing customization offered by android.

Well said. The fluidity of 90hz or 120hz display is really something that once you get used to, its hard to go back to 60hz. I would not say its a necessity but having it would be a luxury most of us look into having after paying top dollar for a top of the line model from a phone manufacturer. One of the hurdles Apple would be facing should it decide to use the 120hz or 90hz screen on the current line of Iphone would be the optimization of its firmware to meet the battery drain from the 120hz display. The small capacity battery on the Iphone 12 Pro Max would not be adequate to accommodate the demand of battery juice from the 120hz screen.
Many current android phones with 120hz displays are coping with the increase in battery drain from the screen by providing batteries with larger capacity batteries but it seems to be just not enough. Another issue would be Apple would also need to make its app developers come up with 120hz compatible versions of their apps so that it will run 120hz displays on its phones. So basically we could put it at IOS is still behind in this tech and implementation takes much time and effort to make it work and hence the need to delay implementation to the next iteration of the Iphone for next year.
Whatever it is, it would be up to potential buyers to decide if this generation of the Iphone would be worth getting.

I can’t imagine anyone would want to buy an iPhone 12 when there is no 5G in Malaysia.

I remember last time when iPhone 5 was released in Malaysia, there was no 4G.

It's not just for the 5G, plenty of folks already forked out top dollar for 5G Android phones. At least with the iPhone 12, you are assured of getting software updates till 2025 - so hopefully 5G is good by then! smile.gif

Well I guess if its a technological hurdle then yeah it make sense. They could have adopt an option to switch on 120hz (on/off) though, leaving 60hz by default since the panel supports it. Frankly speaking, I would spend getting a Max if more battery required to run at high refresh rate. I guess its just apple being apple, important to get things right at the first go, at the expense for a slow adoption.

I think you hit the nail right on the head with that. They do tend to overthink it sometimes. Not only do they have to get it right but they’ll pressure the app developers to do so as well and by the time everything comes together, they’ve missed yet another upgrade cycle and will have to wait for the next one... laugh.gif

The missing 90hz/120hz refresh rate display doesn’t bother me. The retention of the Lightning port in favour of a USB C port doesn’t bother me. In fact, the missing charging brick and earphones don’t trouble me too, but I really did wish they incorporated Touch ID into the power button like they did for the latest iPad Air. In the times of COVID and compulsory face coverings, that would have been very useful!

I think Apple just do not want to go backward on a technology when they have incorporated a FaceID in it. With this development I am gonna say under screen touchID would not even happen for the iPhone.

If you do a lot of readings 120MHz is a must. My eyes much more comfy reading via iPad Pro
