Would be more ideal if they changed it to USB-C in line with their other "pro" products. AirPods Pro, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro are all using USB-C.... sooner or later they would have to standardised that so everyone will only need to bring 1 cable instead of 2...
*
agreed on moving to usb-c, good for us...

p/s: Airpods Pro is not usb-c tongue.gif it is C to Lightning cable, the case still lightning

I watched the live show plus study the specs. So confirmed no touch id and no 120hz screen for pro max version? Lastly I am new to iphone, can my old ipad charger or any usb-c charger works with the converter? Previously using the ipad charger to charge iphone might fry the iphone. Not sure if got watt restriction for those fast charge android usb-c cable.
*
confirm no touch id, no 120hz
never have iPad charger charge iPhone can fry phone ok sweat.gif
for charging, people always mistakenly thought is the charger push power to device, actually during charging, it is the device that DRAWS the power in watt, if a phone can be fry during charging, it has to be something wrong with either charger or the device that constantly draw power from charger

as simple as, even a charge head can output 45W max with 9V 5A, and if iPhone can draw max 18W @ 9V 2A, it will be 18W draw over during charging... case close, dont argue this, this is how electronic and electrical device draw power

the band dont have mmWave but below stated support mmWave hmm.gif

Thumbs up. Thanks for your explanation.  thumbup.gif So my normal huawei charger with usb-c can charge with no issue right?

But sad no 120hz, if not almost perfect. 5nm chip draws much less power, so don't know why they don't include it if it is battery concern.
The eg happened when I was in europe many years ago. The joker's iphone (I think back in 2011) spoiled, cannot charge anymore. Another "expert" concluded because he used the ipad charger with a larger voltage to charge.
*
nowadays iPhone support PD, max should be 9V 2A 18W
if your huawei charger not support PD, and use to charge
iphone, most likely will fall back to 5V 1-2A, which range from 5-10W, almost slower by half compare to PD

huawei xiaomi oppo samsung all have their own proprietary charging method like qualcomm quickcharge... PD is usd org standard use mostly in modern laptop and few years ago when ipx launch Apple adopt PD (power delivery)

older iPad stock charger all the while 5V, just higher Amp 2/2.4A which can let device draw 10-12W, as compare to older iPhone charger which is 5V 1A 5W, impossible when your expert said the iPad charger provide larger voltage, the expert must be joker... up until Apple include PD charge it only able to go 9V 1-2A

AND if back to year 2011, i dont think any phone or tablet device provide 9V charger head lol, mostly 5V 1-3A

and most important still the myth people dont really clear, charging is always device draw power from charger when the voltage provided match, Amp is another factor to decide how many watts is draw

Cut the lower carbon emission bullshit. All these tactics are here to make consumers pay more to purchase their chargers separately and also their earpods.  If you purchase the earpods and charger separately, these items would have to be packed in different plastic and cardboard boxes packaging and wouldn't that be contributing to more carbon emission and deforestation?

You should be glad though that Apple is not charging for the box the phone comes in though.  lol.gif
*
agreed lol, to reduce carbon emission, Apple should release new product every 5 years instead laugh.gif so their customer spend more years using and recycle existing phone, chinese said 牵强.. cut then cut dont crap haha

QUOTE(daimon @ Oct 14 2020, 11:00 AM)
i a Iphone user since iphone 4s

then change to Iphone 6

plan to buy this new iphone

but the CHARGER really confuse me

cos the cable seems different already is it?

i read online what usb c and lightning which i dont understand sad.gif

my iphone 6 cable + adaptor still the one which is universal, which a big squarish usb hole

but this new iphone seems different design sad.gif

is there any kind people explain to me  with photo pleasee ?
*
the c to lightning cable support fast charge, you can use back your old iPhone 6 cable... if your charger adapter can output 5V 2-3A, by using back iPhone 6 cable able to draw 10-12W as well... not really fast, but is faster than 5V1A 5W

the cable usb c to lightning support Power Delivery (PD), by spec it suppose can let newer generation iPhone draw ~18W, thus, Apple call it fast charge sweat.gif you might notice a lot other Android maker mentioning charger they will stated Watt, e.g. 30W, 50W... fast charge

this year iPhone 12 lineup seems able to fast charge at 20W, probably 9V ~2.2A or 12V xA maybe...

Apple fast charge is miles behind many android maker which uses proprietary charging method because Apple is using USB PD... which use commonly in modern laptop

conclusion is, if you buy new iPhone 12 any model, without buying a USB C Power Delivery support charger, it wont fast charge your iPhone 12 laugh.gif
USB PD charger nowadays reliable brand is cheap, <RM50, some can get RM25-35

i like this slim case and the camera cutout similar to my 11pro, it is precisely camera hole instead of one big rectangle cutout
looking at taobao seems many store out of stock for iPhone 12/pro case
Attached Image

this is my 11pro camera area case cutout... currently using also from taobao last year...

overall i'm happy with apple return of small phone. definitely gonna purchase iphone 12 mini.

but fak apple seriously, no USB-C, no 120hz display (would have purchased pro if they ProMotion display), removal of charger/earpods. even battery they didn't even bother to elaborate like + how many hours etc, i expect the battery to be worst if not similar.

I mean at least 90hz should be there at 2020 at that price point.
*
guess the rumours could be correct, the size of battery for iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max is smaller than 11 Pro and Pro Max by ~10%, expecting same hours of usage, so typical Apple wont mention anything same as previous gen
