if i'm running my sata disks at ide mode now, i cant switch to sata mode rite? as far as i know it will cause bluescreen inside windows.

so that means if i want to use my sata drives in sata mode i have to full reinstall windows again?

is a yes in my opinion,
if you install sata without formating,
i dun think your hdd will boot your window.
it does not necessary to be BSOD,
it can simply shows that your window file couldnt be found (ntldr. missing)

install sata for next window setup means your window is boot using sata raid.
performance should be faster than ide mode.

yeah, i tested the speed of my hdd using the read speed test in device manager, the burst speed is only less than half of the theoretical speed. now i'm running in ide mode. guess i have to reformat again..

is there anyway to load the drivers from thumb drive instead of floppy?

francischuahcw,

i got the blue screen after i press any key to boot from cd.. after a while it will give me blue screen...

from the boot order, i can see the USB floppy, USB cd/dvd rom drive, and USB diskette on key/usb hardisk...i only can play with the boot order, i cant change any value..

seems this bios setup not much configuration you can play with... rclxub.gif

Added on September 17, 2008, 7:42 pmwhen i run freedos, i can see this line

the error code during blue screen is 0x0000007B (0xF7C26524, pXC0000034,0X00000000, 0X00000000)

the slipstream method is the way to install xp without needed external usb floppy, am i right?

yeap.. so you slipstream the RAID file into your XP installation CD and try to boot?

maybe you encounter some error to slipstream the file i think.
btw...some of the RAID file are not compatible with certain version of XP installtion disc. -> That is what i encounter during slipstream those file into ahem XP disc.

by the way, what software did you use for slipstream the file?
i will use nLite to do the job.

btw..refer to the error it is regard as INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE which mean setup cannot be started

technically, i would prefer to use Floopy to boot the RAID file.

i have some minor experience on slipstreaming into XP cd, but that is from my experience that not all XP cd works.
Maybe as mentioned in other pages, XP SP3 cd should work as it is the final version for XP.

therefore to your question, i am not able to give you the answer.
what i can say here is it worth for a try if you willing to.
it aint bad learning new things and learn from experience.

no problem. i tried with a few versions of XP and all didn't work.

but if i were to use external floppy and i do not have any OS installed in my hdd, can it work? cos the driver for my USB ports are not installed yet.

Basically,
those USB port drivers are related to windows only.
As long as you enable the hardware in the Bios, its already consider on and functionable.
All laptop uses the same technique to boot the RAID file from Floppy and no exemption of not using USB floppy.

Thanks

As far as i know...it won't but i'm not entirely sure because if i remember correctly, the XP SP3 doesn't update the driver library in the setup even after slipstreaming it.

But then again, try and let us all know...
