if i'm running my sata disks at ide mode now, i cant switch to sata mode rite? as far as i know it will cause bluescreen inside windows.

so that means if i want to use my sata drives in sata mode i have to full reinstall windows again?
*
is a yes in my opinion,
if you install sata without formating,
i dun think your hdd will boot your window.
it does not necessary to be BSOD,
it can simply shows that your window file couldnt be found (ntldr. missing)

install sata for next window setup means your window is boot using sata raid.
performance should be faster than ide mode.

If your mobo support boot from thumbdrive,
it can be done actually.

yeap.. so you slipstream the RAID file into your XP installation CD and try to boot?

maybe you encounter some error to slipstream the file i think.
btw...some of the RAID file are not compatible with certain version of XP installtion disc. -> That is what i encounter during slipstream those file into ahem XP disc.

by the way, what software did you use for slipstream the file?
i will use nLite to do the job.

btw..refer to the error it is regard as INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE which mean setup cannot be started

does it work with Windows XP SP1 installer?
*
technically, i would prefer to use Floopy to boot the RAID file.

i have some minor experience on slipstreaming into XP cd, but that is from my experience that not all XP cd works.
Maybe as mentioned in other pages, XP SP3 cd should work as it is the final version for XP.

therefore to your question, i am not able to give you the answer.
what i can say here is it worth for a try if you willing to.
it aint bad learning new things and learn from experience.

Basically,
those USB port drivers are related to windows only.
As long as you enable the hardware in the Bios, its already consider on and functionable.
All laptop uses the same technique to boot the RAID file from Floppy and no exemption of not using USB floppy.

Thanks

Hi there, is it a new sata hdd? mind list down below thing?
1. ur hdd brand and capacity
2. ur window OS.

If it is still new and you havent formatted it, try go to my computer, right click manage and go to disk management, have a look over there if it detects your new hdd. If yes, please format it there.

You are mentioning on your mobo for the raid driver. You should have find it in the Asus website rather than nvidia website as Sata Raid is for your HDD not your GC.

Thanks

are you saying that in bios your hdd is detectable?
But if it is a external harddisk,
i dun think it will show in BIOS.

Erm, when you plug your HDD to usb,
did your window make the USB thingy plugged sound? like ding dong?
then wat is the led color of your HDD?
red or green?
I am afraid your HDD is underpower to run.
Can tell me more syntom?

ohoh....got ding dong sound...green colour....but the it dont not show in MY COMPUTER....help mi plz...izit the hdd break?
*
From the information you give me, there is no problem or what so ever that it work, with the LED indicating green.
So, when it got ding dong, did you feel your HDD run?
You might have look into your Device Manager and see if your HDD is under the USB Serial Bus Controller.
It should have detect your HDD as Mass Storage Device.

Another way round for this is that you can troubleshoot it by taking the HDD out of the casing if you know.
Then test it barely using SATA cable and adaptor.
I hope you get some idea on what i tries to say.

Hi there,
i have refer your thread at
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/789913/+20

if you really need assistant, please open a new thread and dont use others.

To install XP, you need to have the SATA RAID driver which will be AHCI 8 or 9 to be the latest. You have to boot using Floppy disk to ensure its success. But you can try integrate it to your XPSP3 with Nlite and whether you do it properly, i am not sure. Hope you can explain more on how you do.

To be easy, find a External Floppy disk drive. That would be my suggestion.

What do you mean by that?
Press F6 to boot from RAID,
other else will just be normal setup using XP cd.
