OS Installing XP with MassStorage(SATA/RAID) Drivers, Can't find HDD in XP Setup ??

"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. see the Setup log files for more information."

This is the message appears when i select the hdd to install win7 ultimate 32bit. Did anyone having this problem before and how to fix it?

In order to eliminate this issue, disconnect any disks that are formatted as “dynamic disks.” Dynamic disk volumes cannot be changed back to partitions, causing the Windows 7 installation process to fail. Simply disconnect any external or internal hard disks that are formatted as dynamic disks then re-attempt installation.

How to check which one is dynamic disk?

I just brought CompaqPresario CQ42-357TU
i need intel sata ahci driver for cq42-357tu..
im trying to install xp.
OR
Anybody recommend me just install Windows 7

hi all,

i have buy new SATA HDD Seagate for my PC, using ASUS motherboard.
when i want to install windows xp, suddenly the system hang at this point "Starting windows startup" (forgot the actual naming but almost same like this)

anyone can help?

Im trying to format Acer Aspire 4310. But windows can't detect any hard disk. So i've installed da driver thru USB Diskette Drive. And got some error occur. It say windows cannot copy iastor and iaahci. What should i do?

P/s : if i ignore it to copy, i'll get BSOD while trying to load to Windows sad.gif

try to download another copy of the SATA driver and load it into your Floppy diskette. Or you can use Nlite to compile the SATA drivers with the Windows XP installations Disc and then burn it out into all in 1 disc so it will load the drivers without needing to use the floppy.

I am using 160gb hdd before just got my 2nd HDD(Seagate 500gb Sata ), i tried to instal it but its detected only 1 HDD
My question is :
do i have to use RAID?
Which Raid setting should i use? Mirroring? Stripe? Stripe Mirroring?RAID 5?

Look like windows XP is still popular among other windows, I even instal XP into my usb thumbdrive and run windows XP merely with thumbdrive.
