for foc 1st service, i dont even care..asal i dapat the car as early as possible

Sure, first service after a few weeks / 1000 km is absolutely normal.

QUOTE(djhenry91 @ Dec 27 2021, 12:22 PM)
as for every 6 months service, i thought all car manufacturer is using tis method to protect engine.. else oil will degrade might affect engine if not mistaken.

Actually this was true some years before. Nowadays with high quality synthetic motor oils and more efficient motors the usual interval should be 10000 km. Under special circumstances it can be shorter but if you drive 5000 km a year like I do by no means you need to change the oil every six months. It is a crazy waste to throw away this oil after lets say 3000 km or less.

OK, things are different if Protons own brand motor oil would be low quality. But as it is fully synthetic and from Petronas (and not cheap!) it is for sure good quality. Obviously the 6 months interval from Proton and others is just to make business for their service centers and some mandatory aftersales income for the HQ cool2.gif

Volkswagen for example is already using oil that can last up to 30000 km and 2 years.

With no offense, they know what their engine need.

You can broke the warranty use that VW engine old(if it suit) for your x50. You have confidence in that oil, and enjoy the long life spend. Simple.

Warranty normally no issue, but it all depends on service center you go. If you meet picky mechanic or manager, they can void you anything with stupid reason, as last year or this year honda xxx car warranty void as he/she using phone original high power car charger.

Me personally using carrozzeria a3500pro.
Install it recently, need slightly tune for stock speaker. I done it by myself

I got my driveshaft warranty claimed even using an aftermarket brake pad. The stock pad is suck but pricey at rm700. it will make the whole steering/dashboard vibrates at full force brake. Dont had this on the aftermarket brake pad for accord 2015. On Honda, I saw it depends on SC, so I went to SC that customer-friendly on warranty claim. Believe proton should be the same practice?

Hmm.. So far i think they make same practice.
As my dashcam install by myself, draw power from random fuse plug(tested safe)

i sent car for them to check door panel noise, speaker unbalance sound, side mirror blindspot will came on even no car.
They fixed speaker unbalance, half fixed panel noise, cant fix blindspot issue due to mechanic cant recreate the error.

They also notice my messed up fuse and told me to fix it, report will not be filed.

When CEVT confirmed x50 based engine is the same with volvo t5 recharge, paultan did asked why the service interval is different.

QUOTE
We also asked Sandquist why the service interval for the XC40 Recharge T5 was longer than the X50, with the Volvo SUV requiring a service every 20,000 km compared to the X50’s 10,000 km. “Actually, that’s a good question. It would have to be based on oil qualities and what other things, but I don’t know the details of that,” replied Sandquist.

“We’ll have to ask the local market representatives. But it’s the same base engine, so the only thing I can actually think of is the oil quality difference. Of course, in a plug-in hybrid, you use your engine in different ways. Oil quality would be my guess,” he continued.

So i guess either the eo is totally different or proton just want more money.

Does eco mode give better mileage? If yes, in what scenario is it beneficial over the normal mode?

1) Low-speed, stop-start (e.g. during traffic jam or running short errands near the house)
2) Medium speed, smooth flowing driving (e.g. driving at around 60-80km/h)
3) High speed driving, smooth flowing (e.g. on highways at 120km/h)
4) High speed driving, unsmooth flowing with lots of acceleration and decelerations (e.g. on highways with some traffic, 120km/h slow down to 60km/h, back to 120km/h etc)

I will say eco doesnt suit malaysia road condition unless you mean to drive like that.

Reply to your question
1. Stop and go eco mode doesnt help, feel like 1.0 car, compare to my previous almera. Unless you try to piss off all driver behind you.
2. Medium speed like follow truck/trailer i will use eco, so it wont accelerate too much when you press padel.
3. High speed no. In eco mode hard to maintain 110. It will keep drop down to 90+- speed, unless you press harder where void the fuel save.
4. Same as point 3.

So, tldr here. Most of time eco mode doesnt eco, i more likely call it comfort mode.

"Their" engine was built without any contribution from them.

And it is not about confidence, it is about the unfair policy that you need to throw away perfect oil after 6 months so that they can make money. Otherwise you lose the warranty, that comes a little bit close to blackmail cool2.gif

Certainly I follow their rules during the 5 years warranty time and donate the money to them. But I have to admit that I did not realize that Proton has this mandatory 6 months interval when I ordered my X50. In other countries nobody would buy a car that you need to bring for service every 6 months instead of 12.

Thanks, I guess Mr Sandqvists answer does not leave any question open.

Or this RM 36.50 per liter super high end fully synthetic wonder oil from Proton / Petronas is worse than the cheapest mineral oil so it needed to be changed every few kilometers / months brows.gif

i am addicted to eco mode.
sufficient power in the pickup and easy to move around in daily drive.
my car has not been on the highway before, except the short sungai besi expressway.

no longer driving on sport/normal mode.

Until today still stuck in the dilemma of Flagship vs Premium icon_question.gif

Premium has everything that I want - except for:
(1) Dual tone colour - understand that the black roof can be achieved with a roof wrap (really digging the White + black roof combo!)
(2) Blind spot camera - never used one before but seems useful - is it really the case?
(3) ADAS - not so much for autonomous cruise, but for the near-collision warning and auto-brake feature (or at least speed reduction before manual intervention kicks in)
(4) Direct Injection (versus MPI engine) - understand that it can give more Torque + acceleration, but does it come at a cost of shorter lifespan/higher maintenance?

Some considerations/worries for getting the Flagship:
1. More parts (sunroof, ADAS system etc.) - technically would equate to more maintenance required in the long run, but if my plan is to sell before 7 years - i shouldn't have anything to worry right?
2. Sunroof water leaking - SA told me some of his clients that constantly park under the sun faced this issue, though almost 100% of the time I park under basement, I guess not an issue too?
3. Longer waiting time - not that this matters, but SA says Flagship will be slower than Premium, not sure by how much

I am leaning towards Flagship at the moment, but appreciate if anyone has any opinion/comment on their (or friends') experience with Flagship so far, thanks! notworthy.gif

The Manual says Auto mode is when you push the wiper stalk upwards.
