Excellent stuff as usual Horns 👏 .

I believe Durock is also them. So JWK==jwick==Everglide==Durock

I can't wait to try them. I'm waiting for a GB of recoloured Rara (tactiles) with 65g ThicThock springs. Due in Q1 2021.

So what are the things I need to take care of when I'm using a mechanical keyboard? Like what are the maintenance that needs to done once in a while for the keyboard to stay longer in terms of lifespan?

Dear Kbd Sifus,

I am planning of building a 60% with minila layout. i am an existing jis layout, 2u spacebars, 1u backspace, 2u left-shift, keyboard user. I am aware of FILCO but they do not have switches i prefered.

I was advice to avoid GH and go for DZ60 but i found out that it does not exactly fit the minila layout, they do support split-bars layout. I ve sorted the 'keycap profile', 'switches', 'stabilizers', 'case' and 'layout' planout. But i cannot sort the 'pcb' and 'plate' as of yet.

What sort of pcb should i get for a planned wired 60% non-rgb minila build.

sincerely - kbd noob peon.

you might wanna try ask in mymkb fb group about this.

oh minila jis has a 2u-space bar? i thought it's a 3u. ymdk might have a pcb, called yd60mq, with the layout that you want, but it's a 3u-space bar, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=583314417105 (scroll down and check out the supported layouts)

hi sifu Horns,

Seems to me all minila has 3U. But i have for several years used one that seems smaller than a 3U... (i may be wrong):

LINK to exact Dell JIS keyboard i am using

Some JIS keyboards has 2u 3u and 'long' ones. but many has 'short' ones.

Is yd60mq good?

ok i mean minila with a 2u space bar haha

ymdk yd60mq is ok imo. it's qmk/via-supported. i use this pcb (non-rgb version) extensively for my reference builds. the 'issue' is the scenario when you make layouts with dedicated arrow keys (like gk64-style layout), and you use pcb-mount switches, then you must cut off the left side pin of the switch for up arrow.

That's a great tutorial. Clear macro shots where I could finally see wth they talking about. Now I have to buy a syringe. Should be starting a new build in a few days.

one of the key differentiators between good and bad builds is stabilizer tuning. the main goal is to make the stabilizers like they are not there. (i.e., the stabilized keys have similar feels as 1u keys)

in real world, there are at least two other things that we should do:
1. tuning wires to be as straight as possible, and tips are balanced/even, pointing to the same direction; and
2. apply slider band-aid mod just in case.

.. and it doesn't hurt if you lube all sides of the sliders as well.

as for the syringe, i use it without the needle. the key is to fill the cavity with lube (like in that video), not more than that.

Yes the macro shots were awesome! Especially on where exactly we should be inserting the needle to inject extra lube if needed. And the fact that he did it with clear stabs helps a lot.

I've not needed to add lube so far, touch wood, but it is useful to know how.

Luckily I'm not insane enough to use this with lights on full blast like that. Normally it's either off or on a much lower brightness hahaha
