Just be friends with everybody. Does how much a person own influence your criteria for friendship? Does being able to appreciate the finer things in life make you a better person? I have gone through being rich and being poor. I was a bankrupt too, once upon a time. People who I am proud to be friends with, were there when things were tough. Some of the posts here sound too much like those fairweather "friends" I had back then.

Forgive me for interfering, lol. Just to give you my opinion: there is no need to prove anything by showing your confidential info like the 500k in online forum.

Most of them are just baiting/provoking you to reveal those info. I am not saying they are, that's why I am using the word most.

My point is, how they wan to judge u, it's totally up to them and u do not need to be responsible for how they judge u just because u do not provide the info they requested. After all, you are not challenging anyone. Unless if u are the one who challenge/provoke someone, then it's right to back your claims.

I make it easy for myself, Doc. I role-play a loser on the internet so that no one would want to seek any "evidence", "confirmation" or "validation" from me for fear of discovering that they are actually lesser or deficient to me in some aspect, shape or form in their lives. Any person with a reasonable head of their shoulders can put two-and-two together and sniff out who is packing real substance and who is just engaging in pretend play under the veil and cover of the internet.

Besides, it is also funny watching some folks try to show they are of much more value than what the world makes them out to be. In many ways, the internet is a true reflection of human nature and its various synchronisms so you will always have a good amount of folk trying to put others down, cast doubt and hate, or sow negativity and antagonism as a way of stamping their superiority over other fellow human-beings

Acquaintances yes, but friends no. I am a believer of "You are the average 5 person you hang out with" law of averages.

Also, being friends with everybody is bound to have a problem where you don't have enough time for yourself, and worse still, friend politics. I appreciate my me time, so instead of having to disappoint people, I'd rather not "belong to a group". I understand some people cannot live without friends, I guess I'm just not one of those kind.

I start to learn about these when I first start to dabble with mIRC at cybercafé.

It exposed me to different types of people virtually, much more that what I would have encountered in a small kampung (my house didn't have running water and TNB-supply electricity until  after SPM).
