hi guys,

so to speak, the difference of buying an AP set or an ORI set is only within the warranty period only lah, right?

if that is the case then why you guys are not buying from CSL? Although their set are considered AP but hey .. they are offering 15 months warranty leh ... right or not?

I dont know about you guys out there, but I am really unsatisfied with Ericserve in Amcorp .. especially the price they charge for just changing casing ( warranty over but ORI set ), they charge RM45 just for labour .. so what is the point of buying the ORI if we are going to be charge that kind of price for a simple service, right?

Yes CSL Set are providing 15 months warranty on the phone, but not the accessories...

You should go outside store/shop to replaced your housing instead of Ericserve since your warranty are expired, I believe it will much cheaper then Ericserve...

in other words, AP product just means products that is not brought in by the authorised distributor like Midland, T-Choice for SE, Avaxx or Zitron for Nokia, FMG for samsung and etc. the fones can even come from Singapore and may even have the M1, Singtel or Starhub logo...so its not necessary that all AP sets will have a logo...some may have some dont...if they have, remember to check the fone if it is locked esspecially those from singapore and vodafone.

i've got a question. my sony ericsson k300i phone i just bought has the Vodafone tag at the bottom after the keypad. so what does that mean?
especially since u mentioned the phone might be locked. what does that mean?

coz im currently facing a problem, my phone finds it very difficult to find the maxis network, it depends where i am, most of the time, it shows "emerg. use only" as the operator logo, so i have no network coverage at all.

Which company is giving you the warranty, try to look at your warranty card for more information. You can try to have a look at the battery compartment area for more details about whether it's an AP set or not.

It is always the best move to purchase the ori set as in this way, you can be sure that the parts that are in the phone are original too. Some AP sets will have either their parts be replaced by those ciplak brands. Well, I am not saying all. About the pricing, should be around RM100-RM150 difference in term of the pricing.

Well I think your phone are bring in from UK, since you can used it at the first day means your phone are fully unlocked...

I suspect your phone have firmware problem, you just need to upgrade its firmware at any handphone shop that do flashing... I believe this will solve your network coverage issue!!!

quite pricey i think for an ap set, right?

the phone got csl sticker all over it,n got sirim kelas sticker..not bad.
so 15 month warranty only for the phone,so for accesories how long?

all the accesories got "original nokia enhancement" hologram sticker,so is't really original?

HI to all
My cousin bought a 6680 one month back.
Behind the phone only have a sticker by a company named A(the logo stated A only.So don't know what company is that).
Don't even have a SIRIM sticker.
So is this a water set?

BTW,one week after using, she feels that the battery finishes very fast.
She went back to the shop and the seller told her that the problem is something to do with the software which makes her phone to consume lots of the battery. Is this true?
So she left her phone there for a day and collect it the next day as claimed by the seller that he needs to service the software.

AFter taking back the phone, she didn't check it out.
Today, she found that her warranty seal that close the opening part was torn.
What can she do with it?
Is the warranty viod?
But it's the seller that tear it.
I think that the seller open up the phone(don't know for what lar).
So what can she do now?

Thanks for your help.

No sirim sticker = waterset. How much did your cousin buy it for?

Sometimes it's possible, for the software to make the phone consume more power than is needed. So it might be true.

First of all, if the seal is broken, that means that the guy at the shop opened up the phone. By right, after they have torn it (to service or whatever) they will stick a new one. If your cousin does not see another seal anywhere else, then she should bring it back to the shop to tell them that the seal is not reattached. This could bring serious warranty issues later on. Not to mention when reselling the phone.
As to why the phone was opened, that's a different story. By right, to upgrade the software, he does not even need to take apart the phone, just plug it and flash it. You might wanna ask her to make a bit of a fuss, as the seller might have taken something out of the phone. Or replaced some parts with a lesser quality one.
The warranty of the phone is not void as long as you sent it to the place where you bought the phone (to claim your warranty) but like I said earlier, make sure that he sticks a new sticker to show that the warranty is still valid.

Thanks for your help.

HI

Thanks for your help

Means she bought a water set?But the phone shop told her it's AP set.
She bought for RM1850.(at that time ori set is RM2100.So the seller recommend the AP set as it's cheaper.)So means now not AP set but water set?
What can she do then?

Regarding the seal, there's no other seal.At that time of purchase, there's two seal. One on the opening part and one more on the circuit board? Now the opening part seal broken.

One more question if u don't mind.
Why there's a need to stick a seal on the board?(when u take out the battery,on the left of the simcard there's an exposed part whereby u can see the board. There's a seal there.

So basically what can she do to that shop?

The scenario now is :
She bought a waterset when she supposed to be buying an AP set.
The seller open up her phone without any valid reason.

Thanks for helping.Really appreciate it.

Well, if the shop is selling it, it is considered as an ap set coz the shop imported a waterset and attached a warranty to it. To my understanding, an ap set is basically the same phone imported through a different company other than the proper one, in this case, not a zitron/avaxx/sapura. So technically, I believe that since they give her a warranty for it, it's an ap set. But I could be very wrong. Although I don't think I am tongue.gif Bottom line is, regardless if it is water/ap/ori set, as long as it has a working warranty, it's good enough smile.gif The advantage of an ori set is 1. Ease of mind, 2. You know that your parts wont be substituted with a lesser part

Regarding the seal, there's no other seal.At that time of purchase, there's two seal. One on the opening part and one more on  the circuit board? Now the opening part seal broken.

ask away my friend smile.gif This is a forum to help each other no? smile.gif
Well, the only purpose of the seal afaik, is to show that the phone was not tampered with. That means, when you send it in for warranty repairs, the technician would know that you have tried to take apart the phone on your own (or send it for repairs elsewhere) and thus voiding your warranty making them able to charge you for it. The two seals should be replaced after the technician has taken the phone apart. Although sometimes, it is not necessary to have all the seals intact. Maybe that is the case for her phone. Except I believe that the seller has conned her saying that she needs a software upgrade and took apart the phone. I think you should go back to the shop and demand the seal smile.gif

So basically what can she do to that shop?

The scenario now is :
She bought a waterset when she supposed to be buying an AP set.
The seller open up her phone without any valid reason.

Regarding the ap and waterset, I think you should have a rough idea now. You could clarify it first. That would be most advisable smile.gif Remember, if it's a waterset, there would not be a warranty for it. To me, it's just not a very good ap set.

About opening the phone. Now that to me is a serious problem. He said it needed a software upgrade. That's it. All the phone needed was a flash. And that uses a cable. No way in hell does he need to take apart the phone. Unless his "solution" to the battery drain was wrong and he doesn't wanna admit it. Or, he might have taken/changed some parts in your cousin's phone. That would be very very bad. I think your cousin should go back to the store and ask him why the hell did he took apart her phone without first informing her. Start to talk using some technical terms. Usually once you do that, they show you some amount of respect. Try to know your stuff to. Incase he calls your bluff, at least you can show some amount of knowledge. So he can't B.S you too much.

Thanks for helping.Really appreciate it.
