QUOTE(virtuoso @ Nov 2 2005, 01:46 AM) HI to all My cousin bought a 6680 one month back. Behind the phone only have a sticker by a company named A(the logo stated A only.So don't know what company is that). Don't even have a SIRIM sticker. So is this a water set? No sirim sticker = waterset. How much did your cousin buy it for?BTW,one week after using, she feels that the battery finishes very fast. She went back to the shop and the seller told her that the problem is something to do with the software which makes her phone to consume lots of the battery. Is this true? So she left her phone there for a day and collect it the next day as claimed by the seller that he needs to service the software. Sometimes it's possible, for the software to make the phone consume more power than is needed. So it might be true.AFter taking back the phone, she didn't check it out. Today, she found that her warranty seal that close the opening part was torn. What can she do with it? Is the warranty viod? But it's the seller that tear it. I think that the seller open up the phone(don't know for what lar). So what can she do now? First of all, if the seal is broken, that means that the guy at the shop opened up the phone. By right, after they have torn it (to service or whatever) they will stick a new one. If your cousin does not see another seal anywhere else, then she should bring it back to the shop to tell them that the seal is not reattached. This could bring serious warranty issues later on. Not to mention when reselling the phone. As to why the phone was opened, that's a different story. By right, to upgrade the software, he does not even need to take apart the phone, just plug it and flash it. You might wanna ask her to make a bit of a fuss, as the seller might have taken something out of the phone. Or replaced some parts with a lesser quality one. The warranty of the phone is not void as long as you sent it to the place where you bought the phone (to claim your warranty) but like I said earlier, make sure that he sticks a new sticker to show that the warranty is still valid. Thanks for your help. Hope it helps The ones in blue are my replies (duh )

QUOTE(virtuoso @ Nov 2 2005, 10:54 PM) HI Thanks for your help Means she bought a water set?But the phone shop told her it's AP set. She bought for RM1850.(at that time ori set is RM2100.So the seller recommend the AP set as it's cheaper.)So means now not AP set but water set? What can she do then? Well, if the shop is selling it, it is considered as an ap set coz the shop imported a waterset and attached a warranty to it. To my understanding, an ap set is basically the same phone imported through a different company other than the proper one, in this case, not a zitron/avaxx/sapura. So technically, I believe that since they give her a warranty for it, it's an ap set. But I could be very wrong. Although I don't think I am Bottom line is, regardless if it is water/ap/ori set, as long as it has a working warranty, it's good enough The advantage of an ori set is 1. Ease of mind, 2. You know that your parts wont be substituted with a lesser partRegarding the seal, there's no other seal.At that time of purchase, there's two seal. One on the opening part and one more on the circuit board? Now the opening part seal broken. One more question if u don't mind. Why there's a need to stick a seal on the board?(when u take out the battery,on the left of the simcard there's an exposed part whereby u can see the board. There's a seal there. ask away my friend This is a forum to help each other no? Well, the only purpose of the seal afaik, is to show that the phone was not tampered with. That means, when you send it in for warranty repairs, the technician would know that you have tried to take apart the phone on your own (or send it for repairs elsewhere) and thus voiding your warranty making them able to charge you for it. The two seals should be replaced after the technician has taken the phone apart. Although sometimes, it is not necessary to have all the seals intact. Maybe that is the case for her phone. Except I believe that the seller has conned her saying that she needs a software upgrade and took apart the phone. I think you should go back to the shop and demand the seal So basically what can she do to that shop? The scenario now is : She bought a waterset when she supposed to be buying an AP set. The seller open up her phone without any valid reason. Regarding the ap and waterset, I think you should have a rough idea now. You could clarify it first. That would be most advisable Remember, if it's a waterset, there would not be a warranty for it. To me, it's just not a very good ap set.
About opening the phone. Now that to me is a serious problem. He said it needed a software upgrade. That's it. All the phone needed was a flash. And that uses a cable. No way in hell does he need to take apart the phone. Unless his "solution" to the battery drain was wrong and he doesn't wanna admit it. Or, he might have taken/changed some parts in your cousin's phone. That would be very very bad. I think your cousin should go back to the store and ask him why the hell did he took apart her phone without first informing her. Start to talk using some technical terms. Usually once you do that, they show you some amount of respect. Try to know your stuff to. Incase he calls your bluff, at least you can show some amount of knowledge. So he can't B.S you too much. Thanks for helping.Really appreciate it. Why your very welcome Always a pleasure to help Hope things work out edited: some error too mundane to mentiion what it is This post has been edited by marquis: Nov 3 2005, 02:31 AM

How can they deny it? Wait, what did they deny? If they denied the taking apart of the phone, how the hell did the sticker get peeled off then? By the will of god? Come on!
But let's get it clear first, what did they deny?

You might wanna go over and make a fuss about it, else they might not honor their warranty. That would be really bad.

How can they deny opening it? Tell them that the sticker was intact prior to her sending the phone to the shop. If they insist that they didn't open the phone, ask to talk to the manager or someone higher up in the rank. At this point, it's pointless to argue whether they opened the phone or not. Just ask the warranty seal to be replaced, as without it, they can easily claim that the warranty is void. And you whenever you send the phone for in, you would have to pay. That is unacceptable.
Use your consumer's rights.

QUOTE(Espionage @ Nov 23 2005, 09:03 AM) The shop conned me say it is Zitron, but i check there is no zitron sticker, all i can see is comsat sticker. What do u think? QUOTE(pisces_pair @ Nov 23 2005, 09:11 AM) You got conned buying a C975? hmm..Why don't you lodge a complaint? or maybe you can clarify with other shops wether that phone is a Zitron or not before making a complaint.. Bring it to a moto shop and ask them about it. Afaik, zitron don't provide warranty for moto phones. Go back to the shop where you bought it from and demand a replacement or something. Comsat is definitely an AP set. I have a phone or two from them in the house. But it's not really a bad AP (I think)

Oh..sorry, i was confused with a different post it seems. Hm..How much cheaper did you get it for? Well it still doesn't matter really. The fact that they lied to you is just reason enough for you to actually go there and make a fuss. I think you can ask for something additional discount. Vouchers. Anything. It's just that they said it's zitron, so they should give you a zitron set. Maybe you could make them give you a zitron set to replace your current phone. Or ask them to give an extended warranty or something. I dunno. Consumer's Rights in Malaysia is virutally non-existent

QUOTE(brain_cyo @ Jan 28 2006, 01:38 PM) may i ask a noob question how to know its a locked or unlocked phone? Locked as in cannot use local service provider? The simplest would be to pop in a local simcard But the general rule would be that most phones brought in from out of Malaysia (like from the States, Japan or UK) would be locked. A big give away would be the operator logo on the phone. They love to stamp their names all over the phone. Companies like vodafone, o2, orange would imprint their names on the phone usually. Does that answer your question?

Ap warranty depends on shop. Some give longer while some shorter. If the warranty is shorter, make sure you ask for a better price. One of the main reasons original sets are so bloody expensive is coz it gives you full waranty coverage. And the 'supposed' service they will offer. A load of bs if you ask me

By ori you mean official distibutor?
Well for some of them, you actually get a card. Like for nokia.
And iianm, you can get the IMEI number and call up the service center to check if the phone is warranted under them

QUOTE(pjiis @ Feb 19 2006, 07:29 AM) Don't care... the warranty is more important... Depends really. Like what was mentioned. Most of the time, it's luck. You could buy an AP or even ORI set an get a bad phone. The rule of thumb is not to get a phone that has just only been launched, since it is bound to have a lot of bugs. Let it go around in the market for awhile, till all (or most) of the bugs have been settled first. Besides, some ppl I know who use watersets have no problem whatseoever with their phones. And some of the ppl selling watersets give a 1 to 1 exchange. And if you think of it, all the times you've bought a phone with a warranty, how many times have you used it?

QUOTE(Guardian @ Mar 16 2006, 01:01 AM) Just went to a shop today, asking for ori set of nokia 6630.The seller showed me an i-mobile version and that ori card.Does this means that it's ori set?I'm suspecting this cause she told me that the warranty for charger only 3 months and after reading the details, she told me that it's a year.BTW,the price she offered is RM1200(I'm currently in Kedah state,I think Penang price would be cheaper).Just to be safe, should I spent more instead and get it from nokia retail store? This would be my first phone,so,I'm very sorry for asking lots of questions. Thanks in advance. I-mobile is one of the official distributor. They're kinda safe. Beware of Avaxx though, heard rumors of them changing the parts inside. I repeat: RUMORS. But honestly, 1200 for a 6630 is kinda overkill. For that price you can get a 6680 AP set. If you're gonna be using the phone for another 3 years, yeah sure, maybe an ori set is worth it. But if not, just get an ap set. Especially for phones that have been in the market for sometime. Almost everything about the phone has been rectified (the problems that is). So it's kinda safe to get an ap. The main (or rather the only) reason ppl get ori is becaue of the warranty. Honestly, how often do you use the warranty? Have you ever in the history of buying a phone ever used the warranty? Suffice to say, buying an ori set is just for your peace of mind. Is the RM200 extra worth that "peace of mind"?. But then again, some very unreliable ap companies would change the components/accesories in the phone. So yeah, think about that. If picking an AP company, pick one that's been in the market for a while. And buy from a shop that actually has a proper shop. Not some stall-like thing.

QUOTE(Guardian @ Mar 18 2006, 09:39 PM) Regarding that, any recommendation on AP companies that're reliable? For an AP Set for 6630,is RM950 acceptable(Still haven't nego yet.)?I still haven't check the AP company for that set yet,but I'll ask from that shop later. Thanks in advance. I don't mean to promote, and in no way am I related to this person, but check this dude out. He provides phones from good AP distributors with highly competetive prices. And even has a little description of the many tiers of AP companies. And one thing to check when you buy a phone from an AP company, be sure to check what they give in their full set. Even if they say it's a full set, always ask since the definition of full set given by each shop differs. Among the things to look out for are: size of memory card, cable, software, handsfree. And additional warranty for those items, like battery warranty. One of the most important imo is how long is given for the lcd, since that is the part that is most sensitive. When actually buying the phone, make sure you check for dead pixels as well.

AP isn't illegal. Think of it, if we don't have ap sets, how can we supply phones to the masses? Isn't the aim of the country to be in the information age? wouldn't making phones accesible to everyone be part of that goal?
If we don't have AP companies, only the official distributor can sell the phones. That would limit the amount of ppl that can actually own a phone as not everyone can afford their sets. With the AP sets, at least more ppl can own a phone. And without AP sets available, we would just resort to watersets, which would make things even worse.
So I don't think anyone should label AP sets as illegal. Unless they are exceedingly dumb that is.

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Mar 26 2006, 10:54 AM) I bought a Nokia 6630 new set. After buying I saw the settings & came to know that it's a singapore set. Since It's new, I didn't make a big fuss. After 5 months the phone gave problem & I went to the shop that I bought the phone from to claim for warranty. They said that they need to send it to their service centre. I waited for 1 week & no news. So, I went straight to the shop & asked for it. They said the company that gives warranty to this phone is bankrupt & I've to pay RM120 to fix the 'IC' inside. WHAT THE HELL!!! I asked to at least reduce the price & suddenly that guy using chinese vulgar words & telling me 'basta...' At 1 part,he asked "mau lawan kah?" when his gang is there & I'm alone. What else to do, I paid the money & went off. Beware of this type of guys, paid so expensive to buy the phone but end up getting scolded :-( Beware of this shop : Starlite Network Service (001161757-X) Kompleks Mutiara Lot G-45, No. 568, 3 1/2 Miles, Jalan Ipoh 51200 KL They also have branches, so when you see Starlite Network Service, just be alert!!! for further details, may e-mail me at virovin@yahoo.com thanks.. Dude, pm the thread starter so he can include it in the first post. Also post it at pinned up threads under the garage sales. The one about pertama I think. Or start a new one. Put the name in your siggy so ppl can see the company name. Ppl like these don't deserve to live. Scums.

QUOTE(ghostsboy @ Mar 30 2006, 10:36 PM) hie every1..need u all guys help.. well i plan to buy n70, then after conduct some survey, the phone seller told that beside Zitron for nokia original set, there got another kind of original set that call "local imbi" some sort like that, and it can be calm for warranty in any nokia care service center..izzit true? They said it;s not AP set, the "local imbi" set price is between AP set n Zitron...so is it really have this kind of set in the market...TQ very much Local Imbi? Never heard of it...Might wanna give Zitron a call and ask them. In my personal oppinion, I think it's safer to get either one. You don't wanna pay that extra for a "possible-to-claim-from-zitron" and then find out you can't. QUOTE(pengster @ Mar 31 2006, 11:57 PM) hi guyz....can any1 tell me ASPEN is wat kind of ap company?is it good?thanx I've heard of them before. Can't guarantee that they're good though. Sorry. QUOTE(winc87 @ Apr 2 2006, 02:12 PM) If i'm going to buy a SE k750i AP set from FInal CHoice and other popular AP companies, will the hp with a ugly sticker like VODAFONE or something else sticked on it? Shouldn't have. If it has the word vodafone/orange/o2 or any other service provider from overseas, that means your phone was initially a waterset with the shop selling it giving their own warranty and labelling the phone as an "AP" phone.

But I'm not sure. QUOTE(kumatmi @ Apr 6 2006, 08:11 AM) mau tanya sikit.
