Lim Paik Wan - Malaysia country manager is so young... and hidden fee.. banks sure don't like WISE
*
having said that banks dont like all fintech tongue.gif they are too old school, management are elder generation with no digitalization sense
good to have these new solutions with better and more transparent fee for new generation

nowadays banks try to catch up with the digitalization trend but having hard time due to their structural problem and bureaucracy. tongue.gif

Ok just went through the faq. So far the only limitation I see is max RM20k limit if you want to hold, this applies to all currencies you are holding and is the sum value

TransferWise of course. You cannot store foreign currency with bigpay.

If you have no need to store foreign currency, bigpwy, transfereise and coming soon mymy works

Just ordered my WISE card. Gonna need a second wallet at this rate with all the cards I have. CIMB just sent me a KWIK card that wasn't connected to any accounts because the old one expires next year and the original account went dormant and was closed a year or so back. sweat.gif Luckily I could just connect it to my current CIMB account with clicks.

There's a fee but yeah you can use VISA or Mastercard credit cards to fund your account in foreign currencies. The fees are pretty high though, basically you're paying the cost of it and then some. 3.89% charge to topup $1000. It's 0.41% to topup 1000 EURO. 2.8% for 1000 SGD which is slightly more expensive than using a debit card. It seems like it's dependent on the currency options. For RM there's only bank transfer available.

They said:

We are reaching out to you about your business account.

Please note that we are not able to support Wise account (multi currency balance) feature for companies in Malaysia just yet.

I think can use business account for TRANSFERS only. Just cannot hold any money inside your wise account...

Can je. I have Wise Business Account. With balances in USD/EUR/SGD/MYR etc. My business is registered in Malaysia.

How do you handle the tax accounting?

Do you just record the forex rate on the day of the transaction then convert to MYR on paper?

Registered in 2019. Verified both business and personal last month, November 2021.

Can't topup directly in MYR into business account.

Need to topup MYR in personal account, then transfer to business account.

Or topup directly in other currencies (SGD, USD, EUR etc) into the business account. Can use Malaysian credit/debit card no problem. This way, charges are higher.

I haven't used it, because waiting for Wise to give my business debit card.

Recorded in each respective currencies. Marked to market automatically by accounting software.

I believe you are speaking hypothetically. You've never topped up your business balance or transfer to business balance before.

Yes you can topup the balance, but afterwards you will not have any buttons to transfer money out of your business account. They will only be able to refund you.
