I am wondering whether to set up WISE to transfer RM to SG$ or set up CIMB SG. WISE have better rates or CIMB MY to CIMB SG for RM to SG$ ?

Thanks
*
Obviously Wise will have better rates than CIMB 🤦‍♀️

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Jan 28 2023, 09:04 PM)
WISW has RM10k limit I think. Large amount , you have to open Bank.account. CIMB SG FD rates also good now, comparable or better than some Malaysian banks.
*
Wise can only hold 20k max at one time due to BNM regulations 🤦‍♀️

QUOTE(nampaknyahebat @ Jan 28 2023, 11:04 PM)
I am so frustrated with receiving Wise card as they never arrived after ordering 2 cards. I have waited for a month long for the first order and the second order also a month, yet they never arrived too. I chose the free delivery, is Wise forcing me to choose the delivering fee to really send the card to me?
*
Ask Wise for tracking number and check which courier they are using

So far many of us since Wise have no issue receiving the card and check your address given is the right one

free delivery is just airmail from sg so no tracking number. just double check ur address if correct if not just pay for dhl
I had my card delivered free too it too slightly longer than estimated time due to holidays but not until one month long

Hi all bros,
I'll going to Bangkok in another 2 months, and I wish to understand whether wise card can be use contactless via wave or samsung pay or google pay in Thailand or Bangkok specifically. If contactless can be use perfectly, I would apply now and hope it can arrive before April

Contactless feature - yes. Works in Thailand? You can try and let us know?

Wise supports Google Pay and Apple Pay in a lot of countries, except Malaysia for now...

Enjoy your trip.

No worries, the Visa debit function works globally in most countries. As long as you have enough money in Wise, you can swipe it where Visa is accepted.

Why the emphasis on wave? I've used it overseas at retail stores and made ATM withdrawals using chip and PIN (4 digits), and it works fine.

Wanna double check before I fly down to Cambodia next month.

I have 3 accounts inside Wise. All with certain amounts.

Example.

AUD @ 2000
MYR @ 5000
USD @ 1000

Right now, whenever I used the card in MY, it will deduct from the MYR account.

So, let's say the MYR account is low (say below 500) and I want to buy something over USD 500 in Cambodia, will it still deduct from the MYR account first or straight away deduct from the USD account?

Wise says they will pick the currency with the best rate and exchange it for you to complete your purchase.

Are you sure though. Because Wise looks for the currency with the lowest fee exchange , and in this case the lowest fees to change to Cambodian KHR is AUD, then USD, then MYR, in that order...

Technically the best rate from Visa for the settlement day will picked doesn’t matter which currency 🤦‍♀️

Better put in some THB as well as it might be better rate as well

Wave is faster and I'm pretty worried about what will be the reaction of workers if I swipe the wise card at some mini snack store or small restaurant.

Btw according to you, I just need to deposit MYR into wise MY card in Malaysia and convert it into Baht whenever I need to use it when I'm at Bangkok?

you can use your Visa debit as long as there are sufficient funds in your Wise account across all currencies . You don't even need to convert it yourself. I mentioned Wise will auto convert to THB for you. The exchange rate after including conversion fee is typically still better than a money changer or credit card.

Quote taken from wise "If you have the local currency in your account, the Wise card will use it. If not, it will auto-convert your money at the real rate, for a tiny fee. Either way, it’s much cheaper than old-school bank cards, both online and in person."
all these listed on their website

I know. It goes further than that basic statement. If you have more than one foreign currency Wise will choose the one with lowest fees first. That's how I landed at it changing AUD first, then USD, then MYR because the fees are lowest to highest in that order, when changing to Cambodian currency.

You replied saying USD first then MYR and didn't mention AUD, which afaik isn't in the order of lowest fee first...

Don’t worry too much about the store reaction as you have the right to use PiN 🤦‍♀️
