QUOTE(mazmanms @ May 17 2020, 06:51 PM) since i have invested with sony premium model before, thinking to try mid version of sony. xperia 1 ii, no news for us and it will be expensive. based on price tag of RM4299 in last year model Xperia 1.. I think Mark II should be around the same price if they come to Malaysia which i think they will.. Especially with recent announcement on mid range Xperia 10 II.. But it might be in limited quantity through online store or sony retail store.. i think it will deliver quite promising quality of phone in this Xperia 1 II.. However, whether it can capture the consumer taste or not is different things.. The software part basically very close to pure Android with some minor integration of Sony apps itself.. Camera parts - tuned to offer natural colour and balanced photo.. it do not offer the option like huawei to have standard, vivid mode to consumers.. so those who prefer vivid colour photo, sorry it wont exist.. compared my Xperia 1 with other flagships, indeed sony do deliver more balanced/natural/consistent white balance in photo in most scenarios.. the RGBC-IR sensor is the main feature which deliver the natural white balance/colour.. |

QUOTE(teikboon @ May 18 2020, 04:42 PM) Japan price been released and announced.. but it is softbank/docomo variants.. I am looking forward to Sony Xperia Taiwan price which will be closer to Msia price.. NTD 11490 for Xperia 10 II and malaysia is RM1799 (~ NTD 12490).. somehow almost similar with extra 8%.. probably take Sony Taiwan price + GST %.. |

QUOTE(attw @ May 19 2020, 09:39 AM) haha ok wo.. 5G.. actually if the 5G cost that much such as S20+ vs S20 Ultra 5G.. about 1k.. take in the extra feature in S20 Ultra for 300? there is another 700 is for 5G.. i think can deduct it out.. same as 4k vs FHD display.. Sony can excluded the 4k display to reduce some cost.. too bad, Xperia 1 is like Premium flagship ady.. |

Sony can excluded the 4k display to reduce some cost.. too bad, Xperia 1 is like Premium flagship ady.. I think it very much depends on the free gifts when it launches. But although I used to own several flagship Sony phones in the past, I kind of skip Sony because of the following:1. Used to overheat 2. Random reboot 3. Lack of support in Malaysia. Say after 2 years you want to change battery there's no proper support centers for the phone. Also this current flagship only offers 90hz screen, lower capacity ram and battery. But camera, video recording and screen quality seem better than others. I believe the last flagship came with free wireless earphone worth close to 1k right? If this time round they come with such premium Sony ear piece, maybe worth buying if quality build is good. What's your thought on what represents a good value to buy for this phone. What sort of freebies you think make this phone a good buy? |

Previous variants such as Z5P and following until XZ3.. indeed cause a lot of issues and people skipped them after have bad experience.. im one of it that from z5p and skipped the following next few generation of xperia.. 1. Used to overheat 2. Random reboot 3. Lack of support in Malaysia. Say after 2 years you want to change battery there's no proper support centers for the phone. What's your thought on what represents a good value to buy for this phone. What sort of freebies you think make this phone a good buy? item 2 and 3 yes.. of course there is a third party vendor/technician do know how to repair it, but the price tends to be at higher point.. if we compare the screen replacement between xperia, samsung and iphone.. iphone is the cheapest one.. Yeah last year when i purchase Xperia 1 also due to freebie of WH-1000XM3 which cost about RM1k+.. market online price is around 1.2k that time.. but now started to drop till 1k as XM4 coming soon.. Personally think that extended warranty is kind of attactive freebie, then probably give other sony products to let consumer experience the overall experience that they want to bring to consumers.. such as headset/noise cancelling wire/wireless.. 1 year warranty for a product cost RM5k.. a big nono to me.. even TV also have 2 years warranty or more.. Btw, the Xperia 1 II offer 256gb ROM, 8gb RAM and 4000mAh battery.. actually not consider big differences compare with device in markets.. even samsung s20 series offer 128gb ROM only.. Hmm, later versions of Sony phones still got random reboots? That sucks, iphones and huawei from p20 onwards hardly have reboot issues. I am surprise too when you say iphone screen replacement is the cheapest one. Most flagships like Oppo, oneplus even samsung has bigger battery and 12GB rams. I certainly don't mind the extended warranty if any. But at least in jb, there's almost no center for official phone repair. If got problem they will take your phone to don't know where to repair. I think they banking on the fact their products hardly breakdown. Let's see what freebies they give. If useful stuff like premium noise cancelling ear piece plus other good stuff, I might consider going back to Sony since Samsung is a no no for me (bad experience with Note2 and non Snap Dragon) and Huawei now almost as good as dead without GMS. Either Sony or I am jumping to iphone, make that big painful switch. At least iphone guarantees 4 cycles of major software upgrades. Use for 3 years or more. |

Oh, and the Xperia 1 II doesn't come with a 90hz refresh rate "Sony skipped on a high refresh rate screen and chose to implement Motion Blur Reduction instead. It claims to match the benefits of a 90Hz display by analyzing what's on the screen and adjusting individual frames to reduces frame lag." |

Either Sony or I am jumping to iphone, make that big painful switch. At least iphone guarantees 4 cycles of major software upgrades. Use for 3 years or more. iPhone screen replacement is the cheapest one.. resolution low, less model, bulk order on screen parts by repair shop.. many ppl willing to repair iphone cause 1 spare part use for few generations.. last time i replaced 1 rm300 for iphone 6 plus.. A+ screen.. 12gb RAM is a hype where u dont ever need that.. but yeah consumer always feel bigger/more is better.. it's welcome feature.. I am willing to go for Sony last year due to no notch, no punch hole on display.. last year only few devices do not have those (asus rog 2 (hands-on and it's too big & heavy), xiaomi 9t pro (not fancy to sliding front cam, but recommended to my family members & friends), sony xperia 1/5..).. i used P20 before which i feel a bit distracting to me.. however, it is basically personal preference.. Samsung flagship actually quite attracting except exynos itself.. not much issue in daily performance, but battery life is not good based on my real friends experience (S20+ & S20 Ultra). i do have some screenshots from them.. Camera is too artificial/prefilter looks.. somehow all Youtubers love it so much.. (LOL to me).. The reason i said it is attractive due to samsung pay.. iPhone is a good buy actually.. Just because i am prefer widget in android.. i have spent a lot of apps in iOS actually back to iPhone 4 and 5 generation with iPad.. even Papago i also do purchased.. not sure whether now still valid in Apple Store.. And im used to dual sim in android (but now iPhone support eSIM too).. Probably i will go to iOS in future when they remove notch and add back fingerprint scanner.. face ID is a troll to me.. Im okay to pay for flagship price.. but also will consider on my usage pattern.. minimum 2 years for usage if possible.. made a switch from P20 to Xperia 1 due to front camera of P20 & video stabilisation triggered me the most.. Other than that, P20 rear camera and performance are satisfied.. however, now new huawei device without GMS will not in my option list.. =) |

For me, minimum battery size for my Android phones is 4000mAh surprisingly 3300mAh battery size doesnt fail me to last 1 whole day with SOT about 6 hours.. sometime even more depend on environment.. but based on mixed usage (under daylight & indoor), adaptive brightness turned auto.. still giving me around 6 hours SOT.. if fully wifi and stay at home for movie, 7hours+ is achievable..Oh, and the Xperia 1 II doesn't come with a 90hz refresh rate "Sony skipped on a high refresh rate screen and chose to implement Motion Blur Reduction instead. But i do compared with the size of S10 (3400mAh), S10e (3100mAh), S10+ (4100mAh) as benchmarks, my colleagues all also getting around 5~6 hours SOT (S10+ get even more). By looking at real life comparison + considering Xperia 1 + XM3 headset (RM4299).. phone will be 3k and headset 1.3k.. haha.. buy.. |

So far I think Samsung has the better pre-order gifts, although I don't think the TV can be counted since it's limited to early birds who braved the elements to queue overnight at selected malls |

It’s looking very likely the phone will be priced at minimum RM5k if and when it finally gets here.
https://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_1_ii_g...-news-43325.php The XM3 is a bit of an outdated free gift already though |

LOL initially my friend got wireless chargepad but note 10 lite is not supported wireless charging.. go back complain and exchange with bud+.. win win deal.. |

QUOTE(marcyeo @ May 26 2020, 01:55 PM) I just watched the unboxing video from Unbox therapy....it is like Lou is super hard selling, as well as Sony is struggling hard to come back....i am not a fan of Sony but I really hope that they can come back. Smartphone market is super boring nowadays. I also watch the video this morning. The camera apps is really great.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEbdX5otUUw For RM4999 sure it will be tough for Sony to sell. I doubt Sony Malaysia will lower the price. Even the premium spec Oppo Find X2 Pro also people don't buy. I'll most likely will be buying an import set. |

from what i can gather from unbox therapy.. the minus on this one are:-
1. no 90hz refresh rate 2. 4k screen with 4000mAh battery 3. fingerprint scanner 4. price |

Fingerprint sensor integrate with power button. Although slow but me think Sony does not want anything messing up with the display.

QUOTE(attw @ May 30 2020, 08:30 AM) GSMArena has released their review of the Sony Xperia 1 Mark II I think their review is pretty bias. They just make a simple fast review to write it off their list.https://gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_1_ii-review-2115.php |

QUOTE(attw @ May 30 2020, 02:30 PM) It's probably got to do with the phone not having the final software (hence no numbers on battery endurance) and the fact that it's very expensive. It is. I don't need 65W charging if it can last me all day. And yes it is pretty expensive. They don't have brand recognition like Samsung. People buy RM4999 Samsung but not the RM4999 Sony. |

Not sure if this applies to Europe though, where this particular review originated from |

by looking at comparison between sony vs samsung and iphone, you can see how unnatural of samsung camera output.. oversaturated for all the times.. iphone more natural but night time colour seem flat out..
overall give me choose, iphone and sony first then only come to samsung.. |

Looking at comparison between iPhone 11 Pro vs Xperia 1 II and vs Xperia 1.. i feel xperia 1 is more standout lea.. noise suppression before convert to JPEG by sony is really working.. we can see the noise from iPhone 11 Pro while no appear in both Xperia.. (May look at center GSMARENA wording with colouring stick.. That's gonna be the case for all flagship phones this year https://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType...6&idPhone3=9543 The only advantage of Xperia 1 II is bigger sensor which produce brighter images.. other than that, i dont feel big marginal improvements in photo quality comparing with Xperia 1.. QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Jun 2 2020, 02:39 PM) Haha with this delay, maybe bro attw's wish to come with PS5 free gift might come true. Or maybe the upcoming XM1004 headset! One can only wish. I do like the phone's feature that allows the phone to run by direct charging without charging the battery. Less heat and protects the battery. Only if Sony allows the game mode to also apply to youtube or other gpu cpu intensive apps. Seems like able to select the apps that can use the game mode. But need actual verifying by those testers. Also not sure if this phone not being able to use the 5G in US will have any impact on Malaysia 5G or not. |

Yeah, but I think all flagship phones are truly well and beyond the $600 price point already. When Oppo has the audacity to charge $1200 for their Find X2 Pro, what more Sony who is already known to have overpriced phones |

I'm willing to forego that but at the price they intend to charge, they should have added it in 4k will only run based on apps developer provided that high resolution.. So far, Sony in apps album/videos app supported it.. Youtube also supported it.. Netflix seem support in the past however recently limit the resolution based on global lockdown. And netflix seem limited to certain device (streaming devices) for now.. Yeah, most reviews mentioned that too, apparently even Netflix and Amazon Prime that supports 4K runs on FHD on the Xperia 1 II so in the end, if apps support, 4K will kick in.. else downscale to 1080p.. even so, the display panel is still 4k.. basically u cant see the pixels even very close to display.. Below is explanation from Sony about 4k display. Dont be too excited for 4K display btw.. QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Jun 3 2020, 02:47 PM) If it's the same as Xperia 1, we cannot choose when it will kick in. The system will decide for us. I think only movie, youtube, and photo. QUOTE(attw @ Jun 3 2020, 04:02 PM) Except it's missing the high refresh rate screen that other flagships are packing. I'm willing to forego that but at the price they intend to charge, they should have added it in Ouch. Means same like xperia z5 premium.Yeah, most reviews mentioned that too, apparently even Netflix and Amazon Prime that supports 4K runs on FHD on the Xperia 1 II I'm used to QHD+ resolution, will i feel downgrade with this Xperia 1 ii default FHD+ ? QUOTE(ChuanHong @ Jun 3 2020, 04:23 PM) 4k will only run based on apps developer provided that high resolution.. So far, Sony in apps album/videos app supported it.. Youtube also supported it.. Netflix seem support in the past however recently limit the resolution based on global lockdown. And netflix seem limited to certain device (streaming devices) for now.. Thanks!so in the end, if apps support, 4K will kick in.. else downscale to 1080p.. even so, the display panel is still 4k.. basically u cant see the pixels even very close to display.. Below is explanation from Sony about 4k display. Dont be too excited for 4K display btw.. But it confirm is one of good display panel that showing nice colour https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/SX906801 |

QUOTE(joeblow @ May 19 2020, 04:48 PM) The one that got overheat issues is Z3+ (SD810)Z3 used SD801. Notorious problems are waterproof issues & pinkish color appears on center during camera shoots, I used Z3 back in 2015 then kaput due to water damage on motherboard, Sony Centre quoted RM1,800 to replace the board, I bought another Z3 (2nd) from Mudah 6 month later. also got waterproof issues and kaput too....Z3 stereo speakers were great but not too loud compared with HTC with boomsound & good stabilisations for video recording without OIS |

(Creator and Standard mode).. to me, creator is more to natural colour while Standard more are boosting saturation, contrast and sharpness.. if u are watching movie and prefer vibrant colour.. use standard mode.. if u prefer natural colour, creator mode.. basically AMOLED are more to have vibrant colour and made ppl feel pleasant to that.. see which type of users are u.. for me, definitely i dont like the punch hole concept.. |

Any current Sony Xperia 1 user mind to share the feedback on phone heat, software crash issue or any other issue? Keen in getting this Sony Xperia 1 ii, but saw some other thread mentioning Sony Mobile already pull out from Malaysia. What will happen to warranty claim later on in Malaysia |

QUOTE(hjh87 @ Jun 6 2020, 09:12 AM) Hi Guy, Initially they thought pull out from Asia region.. however, in the end they are launching the phone through sony store only.. no longer go though phone stall/shop.. that's what i knew.. Any current Sony Xperia 1 user mind to share the feedback on phone heat, software crash issue or any other issue? Keen in getting this Sony Xperia 1 ii, but saw some other thread mentioning Sony Mobile already pull out from Malaysia. What will happen to warranty claim later on in Malaysia Sony Xperia 1 that im having is basically 95% fine to me.. but there is some issues to me. 1. I having a memory card issue when launch camera app.. (once a while..).. assuming once a week.. However, relaunch the camera will fix it.. just not sure why.. im using SANDISK EXTREME PRO (the most expensive one..).. other than that, i think no issue like app crash.. 2. Display mode: i chose Creator Mode.. but sometime it will change to standard mode (punchy colour), setting showing creator mode, but in fact display is showing standard mode colour.. you may differentiate between these 2 mode.. re-select creator mode will fix it.. however after May security updates and i didnt have this issue anymore.. Not sure whether sony fix it.. (this issue occur once a month/2 weeks).. I did played PUBG, COD and GTA LCS (the most graphics intensive games that i have played in xperia 1).. so far so good.. no lag/throttle speed.. heat, from wearing casing + back screen protector, i cant feel it.. lets me try to play it without case tomorrow.. I did tried played PUBG and do screen record for half hour (1 match).. may refer video below. Haha, let hear from you again on the heat on the phone without the casing. Cheers. |

QUOTE(hjh87 @ Jun 7 2020, 09:25 AM) Thanks ChuanHong, for your actual user experience review. i guess that the one you mentioned for 1st problem should able to resolved that.. but so far i still remain my default storage as SD card.. just occur once a while.. so okay la.. relaunch the app.. From the 1st problem, I assume by setting the phone camera storage on the build in ROM rather than on the memory card might solve the problem? Haha, let hear from you again on the heat on the phone without the casing. Cheers. regarding the temperature, i wont say heat up but it do warm.. i do have 1 gel type back protector at the back.. i would say it is warm.. something i will call heat up is like Z5P (SD810 era).. comparable with my P20 ownership time.. but with casing, dont feel anything.. hahaha |

Hi all, another Sony fan here. Currently using a Xperia XZ, using it for 3.5 years now. Wanted to change to a new phone and am very attracted to the Xperia 1 Mark II, but price seems a bit high. Currently considering if I should get the older sibling, Xperia 1, instead, hmm...
I've read all the feedback on Xperia I here, especially from ChuanHong and am very attracted to it. I guess I won't miss out much on the new features on the Mark II - I have 2 Sony Bluetooth earphones, and although I enjoy taking photos, I don't do them that much lately - so, the only good upgrade I really like on Mark II is the larger battery and improved processor. I guess if I get a Xperia 1 now, it'll probably last me another 3-4 years, maybe? What's your take on this? Should I get the Mark II or the older sibling? Thanks! QUOTE(nicodemus88 @ Jun 15 2020, 01:33 PM) Hi all, another Sony fan here. Currently using a Xperia XZ, using it for 3.5 years now. Wanted to change to a new phone and am very attracted to the Xperia 1 Mark II, but price seems a bit high. Currently considering if I should get the older sibling, Xperia 1, instead, hmm... Go for Mark 2 n can last you at 4 years timeI've read all the feedback on Xperia I here, especially from ChuanHong and am very attracted to it. Thanks! |

Thanks! the most important things in Mark 2: support manual mode (Photo Pro) for all three camera lenses.. while Xperia 1 only support main cam in manual mode.. if you are prefer to use for photography.. but if u just normal usage, i think auto mode in camera apps for all 3 camera lenses are sufficient for daily usage.. by looking at worldwide preorder with freegift, potentially you will get 1 wireless headset like WH-1000XM3 or TWS WF-1000XM3.. price i guess around 5k, up from previous 4299.. no rush if ur phone still able to use for another few months.. lets wait for more reviews and comparison so that you may decide.. if you could read mandarin, try to search marcokao from taiwan about his review on Xperia 1 Mark II.. for people who use Chrome, may use translate feature then.. at least can see the photo comparison https://marcokao.com/2020/06/12/%E7%86%9F%E...B%E6%A9%9F-xpe/ THere is another link tested with Sony Xperia 1, Xperia 10 II https://m.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4551/55...QM0ddU4JDr-nIHc This post has been edited by ChuanHong: Jun 16 2020, 01:54 PM |

I was so hype by this phone, until I saw the price tag, how does Sony justify to put such high price tag.

QUOTE(hamtarox @ Jun 11 2020, 09:05 PM) Early imported set pricing would be expensive due to tax in different country (local has lower tax apparently), just wait for official announcement. Pretty sure they will bundle with 1000XM3, that alone already costs ~900. This post has been edited by kingkingyyk: Jun 17 2020, 12:51 PM SteadyPana liked this post

Try to look at Taiwan user got their phone yesterday and sample outputs. It's damn nice and maintain Sony natural colour output. The only big improvement I would say is the exposure on lighting area. Seem HDR do kick in or Sony software do control it more aggressively. Won't over processing.. |

N most probably when they said wont come in, because they want to close a deal now for other models. Good to know. Will just wait then. Btw, Sony Singapore is having sales for their Xperia 1. Do Singapore usually get earlier access than Malaysia? |

Cheapest is RM4,434.99 but White color only at Expansys.my. Never bought from there before, don't know how fast and stuck at Customs or not. Also they only give 6 months warranty, must add cash for extended service plan.

QUOTE(badboy77 @ Jul 6 2020, 06:33 PM) Yesterday i forgot to take SOT since I dont really think comparing SOT between users is a good measurement because it is heavily determined by the type of apps open. However for my usage, which involves lots of whatsapp, youtube video, youtube music, calls, and chrome browsing, this xperia 1 ii is better than Galaxy note 10 that i used right before this it, though it still cant beat my usage with my other 3 previous phones : OnePlus 8 Pro, S20 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro Max.However to be honest i never really concern about the battery life, even before i purchase this phone. because my daily life is around plugs / PCs. so i know i can charge my device anytime. The thing i really concerned is the reported not so bright screen that surely will cause poor visibility under bright sunlight. I had that problem with Pixel 4 XL which for me was disappointing. However, i found this Xperia 1 ii screen is quite okay even under harsh sunlight. BTW I got it from one forumer here. This post has been edited by irenic: Jul 7 2020, 10:48 AM |

Fight against 2nd wave premium android phone and iPhone 12. if they released it at year end, it is HARD to convince consumer to spend rm5k on it anymoreeven S20U had undergone huge price cut recently, SenQ even offered it for rm4099 on 7th July, one can also get it for as low as rm3699 for US AP set in Shopee again, Sony makes good HW but still full of ego and pride when it comes to pricing |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Jul 8 2020, 12:53 PM) if they released it at year end, it is HARD to convince consumer to spend rm5k on it anymore The trend right now has moved to the middle-range phones. Cause nobody wants to pay RM5K for a phone anymore. The middle-range ones are selling much better right now. I mean a RM5K phone? I can get a PC that can do so much so much more.even S20U had undergone huge price cut recently, SenQ even offered it for rm4099 on 7th July, one can also get it for as low as rm3699 for US AP set in Shopee again, Sony makes good HW but still full of ego and pride when it comes to pricing |

I think it applies to everywhere, even before Corvid, I have heard from my friends in Europe said that their local popular reviewers (in their native languages) are all pushing for mid-range phones, and they only review about them. I suspect also because there are more phones to write about. And some even openly commented that they no longer want to pay euro 1000 for a phone. |

Apple with the SE, Oneplus with the Nord and Sony with this. Not to mention the Poco, Realme, Asus and others. TBH, I feel silly paying RM6K++ for my most expensive phone yet, the Iphone XS Max almost two years ago. I dont think I would want to pay that much money again for a newer Iphone. |

As mentioned by some owner here, there is Xperia 1 ii Made in Japan for international model. But by viewing most of the review and website, it seem like all Sony Mobile already shift their production to Thailand. SteadyPana liked this post

There are Sony fans out there. There is even one guy in K where his motto is Sony > ALL. i think sony fans always being a bit loyal towards the brand. but to be fair, i think Sony phone is pretty solid. for the neutrals, they might turn off due to Xperia line up is not popular (0 marketing here in malaysia) and also high price. I was one too. My last Sony was the Xperia Compact Yellow Lime many years ago. Still like that phone till now. this xperia 1 ii is my first sony phone since Z5 premium. i was disappointed with that phone, but not 1 ii. i can say this sony is right there among the better android phones i used this year.. and that includes pixel 4xl, s20+, note 10+, OnePlus 8 pro and Mi 10 pro.. i dont include s20 ultra (i used both SD and Exynos) because I really disappointed with its slow focusing. as an enthusiast, i sold phones no matter how good / bad it is. i just feel i have no problem to sell off my 1 ii now if got someone offers me reasonable price. but i'm not in rush that's why i dont open thread in garage sale yet. |

QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Jul 21 2020, 10:23 AM) actually cinemapro and photopro really aim for content creators.. not recommend to normal ppl..lets talk about cinemapro.. good things is about HDR HLG.. (Hybrid Log Gamma).. you may to do after edit to restore the colour & dynamic range.. These videos are valid for editing. In addition, the editing application must support following video standard of Rec.2020, (also known as BT.2020) or Rec.2100, (also known as BT.2100) one great thing in cinemapro is focus point.. you may set A to B point with specific duration that you prefer.. Cons, without do any edit and upload to social media, other people will look at washed out video output as their phone display do not support HDR PhotoPro - great thing to me also is focus type.. AF-C, AF-S... half press on AF-S to lock the focus point in certain distance and change the location, you can create some natural bokeh on front and nice focus at the back.. hmm.. probably may need to research more about AF-S.. Others which i think is good thing is Wide angle lens and Telephoto lens able to use manual mode as well.. In previous Xperia, only main cam can use manual mode.. One thing noticed in Xperia 1 II photopro mode, you can customize/preset white balance setting to create different visualize/feel that u like.. which is cool.. For HDR, you need to explore HDR mode or so called DRO mode in PhotoPro to have better dynamic range & balanced colour white balance.. SteadyPana liked this post

Few HK owners claimed recording in 4K video more than 5 minutes caused massive overheating..... But I just did a default setting to shot 4K video, only mild heating. QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Jul 21 2020, 01:32 PM) Thanks. You must be an Alpha Sifu. no la.. hmm 4K recording.. i believe all manufacturers also facing same issues of heating.. just implementation ways are different.. even some Sony professional cam also able to record 5 minutes 4K videos only (capped).. have to record new for next one.. Few HK owners claimed recording in 4K video more than 5 minutes caused massive heating..... cant deny there are potential heating issue under daylight if u continue to shoot photo or video continueosly.. faced it in my Xperia 1 also.. as object tracking thingy keep working.. high FPS also cause the processing load higher and easier to get hot.. 1second process 10/20 photos with AF/AE calculation 60 times per seconds.. Sony overdone themselves.. haha.. they designed smartphone camera as digital camera.. consumer nowadays prefer smarter ways like auto HDR, auto filter, auto colour boost depnding on scenes.. but sony remain traditional ways.. all natural as per digital cam.. |

Tested various brand of ear phones :
Sony extra bass : Excellent JBL : Excellent Monster Wireless: Moderate Sony Noise Cancellation Wireless : Very subjective. But it's good. Wire : Was good !! Didn't test on the bundled unit but I assumed like the Sony Extra Bass. Wallpaper selection in 4K was one bonus to show off your home screen !!! I just checked with T&L, they say the Xperia 1 II is being shipped from Hong Kong to Malaysia, not being shipped locally.
Possible that the phone might get stuck in customs? |

QUOTE(Shinka @ Jul 29 2020, 09:19 AM) I just checked with T&L, they say the Xperia 1 II is being shipped from Hong Kong to Malaysia, not being shipped locally. Nope. T&L would have forwarding agents to help clear their items from customs. If yours is an original set, Sony would have registered the phone in Sirim's database and would not need certification even if it arrives from overseas.Possible that the phone might get stuck in customs? |

LMAO. i might be one of the person who might buy used set at that price as long as the set is new enough and in perfect condition. for me there are few reasons why:1- the phone is relatively new in the market, so even it's used, not like it has been used for so long by that user 2- i can fully test the phone before making a purchase. no yellowish screen, no dead pixel, etc. 3- i can get it immediately. no need to wait 2-3 days or more and with a risk of getting stuck at custom / courier or worse got a locked unit (i got 1 sim locked unit when purchased V40 from T&L last time. they were damn late to react, I ended paid RM150+/- to online sim unlocker because i cant wait any further). Plus some users buy phone just to test out, dont even become primary phone and of course dont even touch the accessories.. This post has been edited by irenic: Jul 30 2020, 12:28 AM |

QUOTE(nanadeadbeat @ Jul 29 2020, 02:16 AM) I have finally found a temporary fix. The issue is due to Android 10 full screen gesture navigation. I changed it to Swipe up on Home Button and it's fixed. However the icons in home will be shifted. If you plan to change it back after gaming, the icons won't automatically revert back. :/ |

QUOTE(irenic @ Jul 30 2020, 12:27 AM) i might be one of the person who might buy used set at that price as long as the set is new enough and in perfect condition. for me there are few reasons why: Made In Japan or Thailand ??1- the phone is relatively new in the market, so even it's used, not like it has been used for so long by that user 2- i can fully test the phone before making a purchase. no yellowish screen, no dead pixel, etc. |

For those who can understand mandarin. I can barely understand much but seems like he touched most of the details which are not covered by regular Youtubers. One thing I find very important is the vibration motor. Sony is still not there. This post has been edited by davidletterboyz: Jul 31 2020, 04:29 PM |

Especially one of my reason is in case the item is hard to get. Of course no one is dumb enough to buy used set at brand new price if there are tons of it in the market. but i'm also not that type of lowballer who consider limited time discount or promo price as a market price and then bising2 condemn pre-owned unit seller. if got money, then just dont get into garage sell at the first place. go straight buy from shop la. lol. |

Look at your statement below justifying why someone would pay you at new price for your used set. nope. what i meant is for me if i were to purchase used unit at such price. not when i were to sell phone at that price. if the phone is hard to get (brand new), or it is well known to be hit or miss (yellow tint issue, or any other issue) or maybe longer waiting time, i dont mind buying used unit (as long as the phone is relatively new release, perfect condition all accessories are there and not been used, and got receipt) at similar or almost same price. this is so i can avoid such issue / can get my phone quickly because i hate waiting.the thing is bro, i wonder why my opinion triggered you like i was trying to sell of my device here. if you are that free, at least go check my garage sell. everytime i sold my units, i always aim to sell cheaper especially by comparing with latest RRP and other people selling price. i sold my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256gb back in march at RM4,500 and now i saw people still selling it at 4900. |

Long time no "see" haha.Apparently Note 9 is the last of its kind since the subsequent models seem to have a lot of problems. I guess you stopped changing phone as frequently as Android once you got into iPhone bandwagon? |

I was once a die die must get a Sony no matter what. However, Sony has a number of non worthy flagships release in between that makes it rather difficult to upgrade. Sony Malaysia shipped a casing with such a big box! ![]() The problem is if you're into Sony design wise it is very difficult to accept most other androids lol. And then there is one unnamed company flagships if you try to squeeze it with your hands hard enough it will gives a little creaky sound like it is not very sturdy like hastily patched. Even if the materials description shows otherwise. Then I go to Apple and all their products are really sturdy with top of the class construction and finish. No cutting corners on parts you don't see and then you just stays there. They also do not have any problematic flagships that stops you from upgrading. Never look back. QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Aug 8 2020, 07:11 AM) No bro. This is for Xperia 5 lol. A bit underwhelming for the price though. I had been using official cases for OnePlus 5T, Huawei P20 Pro, S10 and S10E. This Sony is the most underwhelming. It's hard type and no premium soft touch feeling.QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Aug 8 2020, 01:16 PM) No ah. I just changed to iPhone like a month ago. A complete ecosystem.QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Aug 8 2020, 01:20 PM) Sigh ya. I was once a die die must get a Sony no matter what. However, Sony has a number of non worthy flagships release in between that makes it rather difficult to upgrade. If you watch enough Xperia reviews in Youtube, read those comments, you will notice most are Sony hardcore fans. What I mean by hardcore is they only use Xperia exclusively. Like iPhone but of course much smaller fan base. The problem is if you're into Sony design wise it is very difficult to accept most other androids lol. And then there is one unnamed company flagships if you try to squeeze it with your hands hard enough it will gives a little creaky sound like it is not very sturdy like hastily patched. But of course it comes at a premium price. I think iOS is going Android-ish as time goes, not as restricted as before. It's pulling owners from Android. Especially the flagship market. |

When is Sony releasing their 2020 flagship phone.... so many months already. I am not greedy, just release in Aug with the newly XM1004 headset as free gift and I will buy even if over 5k.
Seriously forcing people to go apple. Now with the US China situation China phones got risk for future support and updates, and samsung using non snapdragon chips here. Only left Sony in Malaysia. This post has been edited by joeblow: Aug 8 2020, 08:40 PM |

Watch the UHD HDR MKV then you will take the advantage of the 4K display. Confirmed.so in the end, if apps support, 4K will kick in.. else downscale to 1080p.. even so, the display panel is still 4k.. basically u cant see the pixels even very close to display.. Below is explanation from Sony about 4k display. Dont be too excited for 4K display btw.. But it confirm is one of good display panel that showing nice colour https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/SX906801 ChuanHong liked this post

Are you sure? lolIMHO this is the most gimmick feature of Xperia nowadays. It's just a loose vibration lagging behind the audio. I wish they rather use a more accurate/fine-grain control of vibration motor. |

I hv no loyalty towards phone, no matter how good it is. I’m an enthusiast so i just feel like buying any new flagships especially from Samsung, Apple and Google.
This is my first Sony since the disappointing Xperia Z5 and to be honest I’m surprised this phone last longer in my pocket as my primary phone eventhough I just bought Note 20 ultra and OnePlus Nord. This sony is seriously a speed beast, has excellent camera, great display, smart battery life, unique design & almost complete features (dual sim, microsd, dual stereo, ip rating). QUOTE(SteadyPana @ Aug 25 2020, 11:05 AM) No lah. There are more crazier and more hardcore people here. Buy all flagships from every single brands out there like Huawei, LG, etc..It’s an expensive hobby which I personally think won’t last that long for me. Because now i begin to feel the hassle of transferring data and setup new phones. Haha |

QUOTE(IdiuU @ Aug 25 2020, 10:28 PM) Initially I plan to buy from this seller also. But in the end i bought from a crappy local seller due to Penjana + Cash back promo.PS: I remember must use shopeepay to buy only can get 10% Cash back. But this seller does not have 'Local Seller' tag. PSS: You can only use at most 25% or 3000 shopeecoins on 'Preferred' or 'Mall' seller daily. So let's say you earned 45,000 coins. But you can only use 3000/45000 at most each day. PSS: I learned it the hard way when I try to use the said coins to buy WF-1000MX3. |

China phones in danger of software update and Samsung no Qualcomm in Malaysia. Seriously disappointed, not sure why Sony delays until Nov. Might as well don't release. |

Lol, Sony Malaysia website have taken down the 5G spec for Xperia 1ii. Seem like Malaysia is getting the same model as Singapore.
I rather wait for the Japan 12GB version, anyone getting these as well could share how you plan to get it. Thanks. |

As long as it is 5G model, I am interesting. 8GB RAM is freaking ok, not needed 12GB and price increase later.
But from the spec seems not mentioned 5G. If final no 5G, then 1 am 100% not interesting and won't buy. https://www.sony.com.my/electronics/smartph.../specifications This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Aug 31 2020, 10:11 PM |

I think no huge price differences. |

I agree that 5G phone is future proof but I think the 5G usability such as coverage etc will takes time to matured.

If it don't cost anything additional, I'm OK with it though there's rumors of higher power drains with idling 5G modem, but it shouldn't be something major enough to deter you from making choice. But if it cost a price premium over say non-5G ready devices, the most price premium I'm willing to pay over similar specs phone is RM100-150. Anything more than that I will gladly keep the savings and stuck with 4G till my next phone. |

I think only worth to buy if they offer good pre order gift like Xperia 1i.
Besides that, kinda overpriced. |
