Hi all, another Sony fan here. Currently using a Xperia XZ, using it for 3.5 years now.  Wanted to change to a new phone and am very attracted to the Xperia 1 Mark II, but price seems a bit high. Currently considering if I should get the older sibling, Xperia 1, instead, hmm...

I've read all the feedback on Xperia I here, especially from ChuanHong and am very attracted to it. I guess I won't miss out much on the new features on the Mark II - I have 2 Sony Bluetooth earphones, and although I enjoy taking photos, I don't do them that much lately - so, the only good upgrade I really like on Mark II is the larger battery and improved processor. I guess if I get a Xperia 1 now, it'll probably last me another 3-4 years, maybe?

What's your take on this? Should I get the Mark II or the older sibling?

Then depends on your patience and financial. Other than that, buy the thing you like and life is too short nowadays ! 

i dont think have cheap deal on last year xperia 1 unless imported set.. taiwan set secondhand unit may go down until 15000 NTD+-. about RM2k+?! else i will suggest u to take Mark II.. reason: bigger battery capacity, 3.5mm jack, 256gb internal storage, ToF sensor...

the most important things in Mark 2: support manual mode (Photo Pro) for all three camera lenses.. while Xperia 1 only support main cam in manual mode.. if you are prefer to use for photography.. but if u just normal usage, i think auto mode in camera apps for all 3 camera lenses are sufficient for daily usage..

by looking at worldwide preorder with freegift, potentially you will get 1 wireless headset like WH-1000XM3 or TWS WF-1000XM3.. price i guess around 5k, up from previous 4299.. no rush if ur phone still able to use for another few months.. lets wait for more reviews and comparison so that you may decide..

if you could read mandarin, try to search marcokao from taiwan about his review on Xperia 1 Mark II.. for people who use Chrome, may use translate feature then.. at least can see the photo comparison

They are using 100 fahrenheit convert to celcius such is really good. Less than 40 celcius..

that one provide low protection.. and SP is like old style plastic film layer.. try to get IMAK hydrogel screen protector.. it do protected my screen for few times due to accidental drop from my bed and bath room.. LOL.. that one about RM10+ per pieces.. bought 4 to 5 pieces can sustain whole lifetime..

for casing, suggest Spigen.. provide the best protection on edge..

so far experiance ok la..screen really good( compare with iphone Xs oled  max and LG v40 ips ) smooth...cant feel much diff with the motion blur reduction on/off.  speaker feel like abit pecah after turn on dolby (imho) but if don turn on feel abit too soft?

Now that iphone 12 Pro Max is out (camera blows sony away) and the fact around Feb 2021 Sony will announce xperia 1 mark 3, Sony better bundle with XM4 and PS5. Seriously I think Sony give up on the Malaysia market and for the right reason too. Just simply no demand and Malaysia flooded with mid level China phones. Even 5G support is unclear, with many Malaysia users "expecting" Sony to "turn on" the 5G features once available in Malaysia. I don't know if it works this way since got licensing issue and whether the 5G modem even included in the first place.

Support is actually very important. Eg I now own a Huawei P20 pro. Relatively stable and just changed the battery at the Huawei Support store where service/costs above good expectation. I feel sad Sony is giving up on the Malaysia market.
