dear OC-ers,

i am newbie to the OC scene but would like to learn; i recently purchased the following:

Q6600 (2.4GHz)
Gigabyte P35-DS3
2GB Kingston Hyper-X 4-4-4-12
MiniTypo 90 Cooler
PowerLogic 500W PSU

So far i was only able to OC to 2.7GHz (300x9) and the voltage i set it to system (mobo controlled); with this speed, my cpu temp during normal use is about 31/32 degrees. And when running OCCT stress test, it goes up to max of 58degrees; is this acceptable?

I tried to OC to 3GHz (333x9) but failed to boot into XP; i get a blue screen.

Can anyone tell if i can OC to 3.2GHz with the hardware above for daily use?

thanks.

yeah... power logic is not logic to use to OC the quadcore.. get the better psu..
plus, i believe you might need to tweak your ram and other voltage tweaks..

u know what i mean...

-edit- mini typo 90 cooler.. sweat.gif i also believe you need better cooling to do the job.. OC a quadcore means a LOT of heat sweat.gif

-edit again- oh.. that's from lazzy post sweat.gif notworthy.gif

Got my Q6600 last week and now pairing it with Xigmatek S1283 and MX-2 TIM.

Results are good and now gradually burning in my Quad.

Anyways im having irregularities of temp between Cores.. rclxub.gif

Temp of COre 0 and Core 3 seems to be at average 8-10C! I tried to reseat the HSF cooler but same result.

[attachmentid=283119]

Anyone having similar issues? Im suspecting either Quad IHS or my Xigmatek HSF is concave.

Managed to get 3.5Ghz (435X9) on my Q6600 average temp 45C . The Xigmatek sl1283 + mx-2 TIM is really a good pair for cooling the Quad!

I think for those still using 965P just stick with it or buy X38 instead.
