hello, where can i get bus pass in kyoto? i searched klook kkday, dont see kyoto bus pass.
Do i still need bus pass if i planned to purchase Keihan Kyoto-Osaka Sightseeing 2days pass?

another question, for travel from osaka to kyoto, recommend using Keihan line or Hankyu line? Does this 2 lines allow big luggage(2x 28 inch)?  Im staying nearby Kitahama station in Osaka if that relevant.

Thanks in advanced

The one day bus pass can be purchased at the bus terminal (got vending machine), at the city bus office building (its a building (more like a kiosk) outside of the main kyoto station (not very far just right outside one of the exit near to the terminal)

You can also buy them at the commuter pass office at the various subway stations.

Regarding the keihan kyoto-osaka sightseeing pass, you cannot use it to ride the keihan buses.

Regarding the luggage on normal trains. Well, you can.......... But you are gonna be a whole pain in the ass during peak hours. Try to use first or last carriage so you arent blocking ppl that much.

Keihan normal train to kyoto takes abt 1 hr.
Hankyu is less
JR rapid is fastest normal train to kyoto

If you are thick-skinned, just bring your luggage and squeezed in. Many ppl does that tbh you won't be the first or the last. If you want convenience a one way bullet train from shin osaka to kyoto is around 3000 ish yen for a reserved seat (pls double check the price)

with 28 inch luggage in tow you will need to reserve a seat (cant use free seating) so go to the ticketing window (midori no madoguchi) to purchase a ticket (remember to inform you have large luggage)

The bullet train to kyoto from osaka is 15 mins ride.

There's a bus from USJ to kyoto too but its a 2 hrs ride lol

If you stay at Kitahama then Keihan Main Line to Kyoto are fastest.
Make sure you take Limited Express 特急 . From Kitahama to Kyoto Sanjo about 45 minute only.

Limited Express need to buy train ticket + reserve seat ticket, the train got designated spot for putting large luggage. You just imagine the limited Express is like our ETS train.

Someone on the telegram group personally used it. But not me. I do understand that it seems dodgy given the nature of how things work. Since all of us are anonymous.

Hi All, planning a trip mid April 2023, hope to hear some feedback:
Tokyo - 5 nights - Shinjuku, Ginza, Shibuya, Akihabara, Makuhari
Nagano - 2 nights - Jigokudani
Takayama - 5 nights - Shirakawago and Kamikochi
Osaka - 5 nights - 2 days trips to Kyoto
Tokyo - 3 nights - kawaguchi and Disneyland

I can’t find much things to do in Nagano aside from the snow monkey, Matsumoto castle and the wasabi farm hence spending more time in Takayama instead doing 2 day trips to some other towns.

As for Tokyo, any Michelin places to recommend? I found a few but not sure since budget only allow 1 meal, need to choose wisely laugh.gif

Nagano & Takayama should be switch around for making the trip more flow smoothly. I go better plan.

April Takayama hotel price will be sky rocket because of reopen of Tateyama Alpine Route. 5 night at Tateyama are too overkill unless you want go deep sweet travel style. Takayama can reduce to 3 days 2 night will be far enough.

Tokyo - 5 nights
Tokyo > Nagoya > Takayama with JR Limited Express "Hida".
Takayama - 2 night (Shirakawago and Kamikochi with Nohi Bus)

Takayama > Toyama with JR Limited Express "Hida" and stay at Toyama 1 night
Toyama > Tateyama Alpine Route with "Toyama Dentetsu" until Tateyama Station. Tateyama Alpine Route another side of ending will be JR Shinano Omachi Station. From Shinano Omachi Station take JR Local train to Matsumoto Station. Enjoy the beautiful Oito Line scenic View.
Matsumoto Station can continue to Nagano Station with JR Limited Express "Shinano".

Nagano - 2 nights

From Nagano > Kanazawa with Hokuriku Shinkansen and stay 1 night at Kanazawa.
Kanazawa > Shin-Osaka Station with JR Limited Express "Thunderbird"

Osaka - 5 nights - 2 days trips to Kyoto
Tokyo - 3 nights - kawaguchi and Disneyland

Buy on spot thru ticket machine.
Kodama class "stop every station" and let Nozomi and Hikari class go thru. Journey about 2 hrs 30 minute.

Don't forget buy Bendo at Mishima Station before board the train.

But I want to buy the reserve ticket since I have luggages. Would it be too late to reserve? I will be in Tokyo for about 5 days before going to Kawaguchiko area. Then I plan to take the Fuji Line train to Kawaguchiko area for 1 night and then travel by bus to Mishima station to take the Shinkansen.

Another question, where can I buy the Fuji Excursion Line ticket? Can buy at Station in Tokyo? (Shinjuku?).

Thanks.

No need reserved. Just buy Shinkansen Ticket on the spot at Mishima Station.

Fuji Excursion Limited Express can be purchased at JR Ticket Office in Shinjuku Station or JR Ticket Machine.

Japanese train will have 2 ticket. One is for the train, another is for the seat. Remember, passing autogate by using train ticket only, don't put seat ticket inside machine.

Thanks for the info. 👍🏻. But I think I will still need to reserve a seat in advance as I read many guides recommending this. Don't want to risk it.

Normally reserved seat in advance are only for those travel during Golden Week or wanted to ride those super rare sightseeing train.
Reserved seat in advance are advance tight your schedule in that particle timing which is very stupid specially Tokaido Shinkansen got 90 train schedule running from Tokyo to Fukuoka vice versa daily. As long no holiday, 100% confirm got seat & train not even 50% full.

If you reserved seat in advance:
From lake Kawaguchiko to Mishima Station bus got any delay. You are fxxx, late 5 minute you are fxxx because Shinkansen are super duper on time. Example 10:30 am train, 10:20am train will be arrived platform & 10:30am sharp door will closed. Japan buses sure will delay because road condition always unpredictable. Seat reservation will making you need to arrived Mishima Station 30-40 minute in advance. So stupid.......you making your journey from Kawaguchiko to Mishima like Amazing Race for something had 90 schedule train running daily which is every 15 minute will had one train from Tokyo heading Kyoto.

Oh yea, you reserved in advance, you late, you will burn that 16,000 Yen - 20,000 yen Ticket.
