do you know is there a direct bus from utoro onsen to lake akan directly?
looking for public transport to get to lake akan in winter february next year
*
99.9% no way you can reach utoro onsen and Lake Akan by public transport during Feb. Those area are dead zone. Public transport confirm suspended. 50% you can reach by self driving which will be extremely difficult to drive. Another 50% was road will be closed temporarily due to thick snow.

Sekisho Line from Tomamu Station all the way to Kushiro Station will be suspended from Mid of Feb until early March.

Entire Sekihoku Line from Asahikawa Station until Abashiri Station will be suspended from Mid of Feb until early March.

Entire Semmo Line from Abashiri Station until Kushiro Station will be suspended from Mid of Feb until early March.

Entire Soya Line from Wakkanai Station until Asahikawa Station will be suspended from early Feb until early March.

Basically Feb public transport only limited from Sapporo until Asahikawa, Otaru and Hakodate only. Asahikawa to Furano 40% chances suspended. If you don't drive during Feb, your journey basically just limited to South part of Hokkaido only.

Monkey are animals, they behave the same no matter from which country monkey. Extremely dangerous and do not near to those wild monkey. Nagano snow monkey park hot spring also can be very wild if they saw food and drinks. I saw one of the monkey grab tourist handphone and back into hot spring, that phone total lost mad.gif

Kyoto Randen not only purple, they got other painting also.

Leave Osaka and Kyoto for next trip, you will not enjoy as it's too rush. I spend 1 week in Kyoto and did not cover all the places of interest.

I want to play devil's advocate here abit just to keep discussions up. I liked kyoto but those sights were not as wow as i thought. I was like, that's it huh? 2 days is enough for me (i planned 3 days including almost 0.75day fot nara trip). Dont need to go everyone of them. After awhile, the temple, garden or shrine is same same. Can even factor in 0.5 day go nara by giving up some stuff in kyoto itself. But this is purely my view la. Dont get me wrong, still find kyoto interesting... and i generally like to keep my itinerary more spacious nowadays (old liao) even though i believe can do with abit of less time by skipping some stops. Hahaha.

If you don't like history and architecture stuff, then you will hardly like Kyoto. Osaka are modern while Kyoto are history.

I spend almost all day at Nara Todaiji Temple. Looking at the architecture build. It was magnificent. Lucky you are not my gf or wife, haha, you will bored to dead.....imagine all day inside temple.....hahahaa

Yeap, that’s our plan actually just go to 2 or 3 places in kyoto and Osaka but still undecided which one. Can you share which place did you go?

Decided to make this trip happen since my son is really into anime nowdays and want to be in tokyo himself 😅

i quite agree, while the sights are wow for me in terms of grandeur and architecture but in the end its similar (shrines/temples). if youre not a fan of them then spend the time elsewhere instead. dont need do what others do

I actually follow lonely planet and basically cover the many of the more "main" ones. I did touristy destination.

But among the top I like in no particular order...

In Kyoto, I like (in no particular order)
1) tofukuji
2) chion in
3) nanzen-ji
4) kinkakuji (to be fair this one was the first one I went in kyoto and I told my spouse who has been to Kyoto before... I said, oh... Like that only ah? That was when my spouse say, it's not just architecture but also the garden. And I was so prepared to spend 1 hour or something like that. Then I realise, ok la, Sao gong, can go makan)
5) eikando (despite having one of the more expensive admissions cost)
6) kiyomizu dera

Fushimi inari I feel is more for the iconic arches for picture taking. But I really enjoy the walk there. Especially the further in I went, less ppl. Not so much on architectural for me.

I have to admit, I really not so big on some of the buildings. Hahaha.

how much did u paid?

my experience it's not gonna cancel or reschedule because it's gonna always be a full flight(that's before covid) because there's only 1 flight per day

from kl to hnd around rm650, from hnd to kl around rm720 but exclude luggage upgrade meal and all that. Total dmg around 1.7k per pax.

That's good to know, the only thing i afraid of is cancel or reschedule.

In Kyoto, bus pass is more superior than subway pass. Though do note driving in Kyoto City is a nightmare (even parking is a pain).

hello, where can i get bus pass in kyoto? i searched klook kkday, dont see kyoto bus pass.
Do i still need bus pass if i planned to purchase Keihan Kyoto-Osaka Sightseeing 2days pass?

another question, for travel from osaka to kyoto, recommend using Keihan line or Hankyu line? Does this 2 lines allow big luggage(2x 28 inch)? Im staying nearby Kitahama station in Osaka if that relevant.

Thanks in advanced
