2 full days at Kawaguchi can be a bit overkill unless u like to just relax and do nothing, looking at scenery. I would swap one day from Kawaguchi to Kyoto but if u don't like temples/shrine then that extra day can put in Tokyo.

Hey bro, I found that most places/transport prefer cash rather than cards, are you able to advise if I should bring most cash or just go to ATMs to withdraw? Understand places like 7-11 and some other convenience store have ATM machines

I tweak my itinerary liao
23-26/27 osaka + universal studio
27-30/31 kyoto + nara
31- go tokyo
1-3 tokyo
4-6 kawaguchiko
6/7- 11- tokyo
11 balik

osaka and kyoto is it better to rent a bike? if not, take bus or train better?
Can advise me how to buy the metro passes for this itinerary? Been reading and reading tak faham the passes. Got so many.

Also, for subway pass in tokyo, got 24,48 and 72. Due to I got many days in tokyo, can i purchase 72 x 3 passes or the pass I can only purchase 1 kali?

Thanks!

That is true 3-4 years ago, after Covid in Tokyo, mostly have all adjusted to cashless payment.

Bus, subway takes Suica or mobile payment (japan phone or apple).

Restaurant, Shinkansen, limited express, hotel, supermarket, shopping mall all accept cards

Maybe a few small back lane restaurant or machine ordering food outlet like Sukiya etc, requires cash to insert into machine. Newer ones have machine equip to accept mobile payment, suica and credit card.

Almost all 7-11. Lawson or Family mart with ATM machine accepts international card for withdrawal (with fee)

I'm here in Tokyo for 2 weeks (today is day 8) I use only less than 8,000yen in cash to top up my Suica and pay for small back alley restaurant meal. The rest I pay with credit card. (my supermarket shopping, movie, restaurant, cafe, shinkansen, Tokyo wide pass, entry to various attractions)

The 72 hours Tokyo subway pass looks cheap = 500yen/day but is limited to subway line only (underground). Not usable on JR lines, and any local train that is not underground. In other words, very limited usage. ( u may find on certain days, places that u go all cannot take subway or need a lot of transfer if take subway and have direct faster JR line)

for kyoto, i'm not a cyclist, i'm lazy, i wont cycle, looking at the distance. bus is quite nice actually + google map to check their punctuality, it's convenient really.

but depending on the point of attraction, a mix of train, bus, subway is needed.

for tokyo, honestly you dont really need the subway pass everyday and it depends on what you want to do. i notice subway prices in tokyo is quite decent for per trip basis. it could cost "only 242 yen using IC card" per trip for a 35 mins on the subway or 198 yen on the JR yamanote (JY) line with same duration. depending on where you stay maybe the JR train station is nearer than subway (this was my case actually).

but 1-day pass cost 800 yen (3 day pass will cost only 500 yen per trip, but it's not like you jump from places to places everyday too).

subway pass do not cover JR line (the yamanote line, which can be more convenient, cause it's that "circle" line)

https://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/travel/

subway passes can be be bought at certain locations (some of the major stations listed above, ueno, ginza, etc, i think are major enough kua)

hi guys,

I bought the malindo air flight which will arrive at Narita airport at around 9pm. Do i still able to get the JR pass?

What would be the best option to travel to Tokyo from airport?

Suggestion is appreciated.

JR ticketing counter already closed by the time you clear immigration n custom. Use google map for your option of travel, it's very accurate and have train/bus information.
If u want convenience, the take NEX to Tokyo (50 mins)
cheapest will be Keisei line with a transfer (different station nearby) at Funabashi = 4 mins walk

There is also a limousine bus from airport to Ginza station (1300yen) n u can take taxi from there to your hotel.

If you plan go those 100 years famous restaurants, they only accept cash. Japan still cash society. New modern internet famous shop mostly accept cashless. All Japan convinence store similar like HK, they all can pay with Suica, Pasmo , ICoCA

I planned to visit Tokyo Disneyland on February 2023.
My son will be 12 on April 2023.
Do he considered as Junior (12-17) or child (4-11) on the day i visit?
Cause his hasn't reach his birthday yet.

I would like to ask which is nicer to visit between Kawaguchiko and Yamanouchi during end of March to early April. Is 2-day 1 night sufficient for this location?

did you pickup a Tokyo subway pass (24/48/72 hours) or just normal PASMO/SUICA card?

my relative's friends just came back from Japan and said lot of places accepting cash, they didn't say which part of Japan they went though...

another question, Kawaguchiko from Tokyo Station (staying in Ginza, nearer towards Tsukiji)... i read there are a few options...
direct bus seems to be the simplest/cheapest if the traffic is ok (+- 2 hours)
else will be Tokyo station to Otsuki via Chuo line then buy another ticket onto the Fujikyu line from Otsuki to Kawagochiko station (+-2.5 hours)
some forums say take bus on weekdays and train on weekends...

which one is better? and how do you get around Kawagochiko? the Chureito Pagodo is like 1 hours walk from Kawagochiko station sweat.gif

I bought 72 hours subway pass and found out certain day, I only use 1 return trip (approx 300+ yen) and the rest I pay using Suica as it's JR line. There is one day which I have zero usage as the place I wanted to go utilize JR and local train (above ground), so wasted the subway pass.

Take JR Limited Express "Fuji Excursion" direct from Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko Station.

If you want to hike that Pagoda. From Kawaguchiko Station take Fujikyu local train to Shimoyoshida Station. From station follow the sign to Pagoda.

Oh, btw, your trip got children, basically you can forget about Pagoda.
