I hope they fix 0.96 soon as the temps shown totally doesn't make sense. I'm still using 0.95.4 for now.

I think i'm using the 0.96 since i kinda downloaded the latest one. Where to get the older revision?

On the other hand, i used Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool, and it's consistent with CoreTemp 0.96 unsure.gif

Can't seem to get my RAM to run at 3.0-3-3-9 at DDR667 though, kinda running at a nothing special 4.0-4-4-12. Even with VDIMM set to max it's around 1.85v, have a way to Vmod it but i'm just being lazy.

Just an update, Core Temp 0.95 doesn't seem to work on my PC, the whole thing just hangs there, no BSOD, needs to press on the reset button instead. sweat.gif

How much lower did u lowered the clock speed?

Maybe u need more VCore, maybe your RAM couldn't take 1:1(so u need to run a divider to run the RAM slower than FSB just to see if that's the problem), quite a variance of "problems"

Some games will have less load on the CPU over some other games, best is to run stress testing like Folding@Home, OCCT, Orthos, Prime95 and the type wink.gif

Finally got my Dual-Core rig up and running

Specs:
- Intel E2140 L2 (VID 1.325v)
- AsRock ConRoe1333-D667
- 2x 1GB Team Group Value PC-5300
- Enermax FMAII 460W

Guess that's all. Just a simple rig to replace my aging one.

Did 2.8GHz(350MHz FSB) on stock VCore, probably the on-board graphics crapping out instead of the FSB wall laugh.gif Probably getting an E2160 was the better idea since 9x 333MHz will easily net it 3GHz instead wink.gif

Here's the CPU-Z validation link

Just wondering, what might be the safe zone temperature for idle and load for E2140?

OCed one yesterday to only a mere 2.0Ghz. Dont dare to try more as i am on stock cooler. Current idle temp is 31c.

Bought E2200 and the max temp for load is around 46c.

Did folding test, it takes 30 minutes to fold 1% of 1000 points WU using SMP beta 6 client.

Don't worry so much about the idle temps. What we're concern is the load temps and 70C is not healthy but it doesn't burn your CPU.

bro, as long as ur on stock voltage, ur fine with stock cooler. any average e2140 should be able to do a 2.8GHz on stock voltage. e2140 on maximus? preparin for penryn for sure... brows.gif

Yea, preparing for Penryn.

Anyway, clawhammer, you mean if my load temperature is anything below 70c, it should be fine?

For normal daily usage, it is not easy to get a CPU at its full load like what you get in Orthos stress tests. This means if you get 70C in Orthos, normal daily usage would probably get you 60C+ maximum.

70C is not a good number but it doesn't burn your CPU (operating temp limit is higher than that). Besides, it should auto-shutdown if it gets too hot.

For my case, I had the IFX-14 and my full load could go up to 63C so to answer your question, yes, below 70C is not much of an issue but if you're worried, get a better cooler.

I manage to get my E2140 to 3.2 @ 1.38125V only so perhaps you want to try lowering your Vcore? Just drop 1-2 notch at a time to see if it is still stable and by doing so, you can optimize the Vcore (don't generate unnecessary heat) smile.gif

Every chip is different but no harm giving a try.

if you have everest, go to tools and click at system stability test. run orthos and burn ur cpu. remove ur cpu fan, check ur cpu throttling graph. the moment cpu throttling graph shoot to 100%, look at the temperature and remember it. this is the temperature you should avoid.
