Maybe i put at the wrong section but i wanna ask something about OC the RAM also.

BTW, really thanks for the recommendation.... But value RAM? the clock is only at 667, capable for games like Crysis and Far Cry 2? the latency was higher as well, unless i choose to oc the latency and hunt for heat sinks for RAM.....
*
i think the difference in frequency of ram are slight different in performance only, main point to get performance ram is to improve our OC as sometimes ram hold back CPU's OC due to its OC capabilities, just my opinion, correct me if i am wrong... biggrin.gif

to all e2xxx series user, i just tried core temp 0.96, it report higher temp than all the other version of core temp, worried of mine now as it raised frm 55c load to 70c load.. higher temp reported by core temp 0.96 while intel TAT and Core temp 0.95 are around 50c+

basically, it's cherry picking. there's no way to tell a good M0 or a bad 1. Some has good M0 like claw, some has a dud.

basically, they 'should' easily go 3ghz, 3.2ghz is already an achievement
*
perhaps i think i get an not so good e2140, 1.35v tiill 2.8ghz only, 3.04 ghz needs 1.5vcore in bios...

its not about oc=ing above 3.0Ghz its about the art of oc-ing which is important
*
Art of OC'ing??? i taught its just skill and experience... LOL

I've overclocked everything starting from a 486DX4-100 and some are used for more than a year but they never fail until the day I sold them off/upgraded. Most importantly is how you manage the heat issue.
*
i think good cooling + not so extreme overvolt makes the effect minimal, not even noticable if u not using ur proc over 10 years as normal proc lifespan are at least 10years...

QUOTE(akachester @ Jan 20 2008, 06:41 PM)
Well, something went really really weird today after installing the new CPU Cooler yesterday. This morning, i restarted my PC, turn off Intel Speed Step and C1E as recommended and rebooted the system to run at 380 * 8 (3.04Ghz). Everything ran fine but after a while, BSOD appears and system restarted. Its still running at stock Vcore as i did not change any other features.

Turned it back to 350 * 8 and rebooted. Everything is fine again until i ran CoreTemp. Suprisingly, its showing my system to be idling at 55c  rclxub.gif Is it even normal? Is CoreTemp stable & accurate on Vista32bit?

Tried load temp and it went almost 63c. Ok, ambient temperature was really hot today (i was sweating like crazy) but would it go that far?

I was afraid, so i turned everything back to normal stock speed, fan at 100% but coretemp is still recording 52c. Bios was showing around 45c as well. More important is, my mobo temperature is showing over 60c. Is it ok for the mobo temperature to be that high?
i think mobo temp is hot, try mount the asus heatpipe fan onto the heatpipe see got help onot... what core temp version u using? if 0.96 its reporting higher temp, wc also idle 50+, if 0.95.4 then its normal also as stock cooler + OC. this proc can go till 85c i think... so below 70c should be alrite for core temp.. try increase vcore if bsod...

well... don't get me wrong, haven't running any long run priming test yet le... so, stability issues might occurs anytime tongue.gif

anyway...
initially i went 1.5000VCore, 2.0VDIMM, 1.55VNB, 1.75VSB, according to a1098113 it's too much, then lowered to 1.4250VCore and 1.3250VNB and 1.55 for SB
*
VSB do affect OC? i thought Vcore & VnB affect the most...

thats crazy voltage for just 3.2Ghz dude

@sniper
im glad i am able to help you bro.

Added on February 9, 2008, 7:05 pmVsb only helps when you need voltage to support multiple drives and anything related to the southbridge la. Otherwise its not a dominant function in OCing. Vcore and Vnb plays a dominant role due to the FSB architecture.

ya, my e2140 M0 late batch not good at all, 3.0ghz need 1.5vcore (bios), 3.2ghz need 1.5675(bios), i am on watercooling, full load at 3.2ghz around 55c-60c depends on ambient... only such crazy vcore can pass 8 hours prime... the temp taken were few hours after priming...
