hmm, i found something interesting about these e2xxx series, the max voltage for it is 1.5v as stated on intels processor finder

Sauce:
http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLA93

and if you look at the datasheet of the E2xxx series, the max operating voltage is 1.55v

Sauce:
http://download.intel.com/design/processor...ts/31698104.pdf
Page 18, 19 and 20

-all of these are of course including the vdroop la..
- does this also mean that the processor is warrantied up to 1.5v?? thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

anyone can clarify these?

How would you tell if the processor is operating at 1.6V?

lol, guess can't really tell unless u go beyond the critical limit... and risk frying your processor. This question is more likely to be answered by those who fried before or those who has extra bucks to spare. I'm just stock Vcore user cos all on stock cooling, never liked to increase any Voltage since I dun have the extra bucks to play with

@ clawhammer,

duno la bro, maybe use a mulimeter and probe the mobo itself for exact voltage? x_x

the specs says up to 1.5v...does it mean its warrantied up to 1.5v?

Emm I mean, Intel wouldn't know if we're running at 1.6V anyway?
It's not easy to kill an Intel chip normally but I used to have AMD keychains smile.gif

I've got frens working in Intel Failure Analysis dept. it's possible to deduce what kind of failure causes, eg overvolt etc to the exact point. guess they know their way around

Intel c2d chips contains a "blackbox" which records why and how the chip died, the "blackbox" is trigerred whn the processor reaches the specified over temp OR over volt. If it is below that conditions, then the black box will not be triggered.

Most E2140s wall around 400. Actually with air cooling most dual cores are probably limited to somewhere around 400-500 fsb.
*
i think a realistic range should be 450fsb max. i've not seen >450fsb at least on air cooling.

I never had problems claiming burnt CPU's except those with physical damage.

like i said, the black box theory...

Colin, try to ask ur friend, how do they verify the cpu failure. laugh.gif

True but most of the time, warranty goes through but at the first place, it's not easy to kill a CPU.

Newbie here, I need help. I m using a Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.0 but clock at 2.4 on a intel stock fan. How far can i OC da CPU by juz using a stock fan??? hmm.gif Bcuz i m planning 2 get a better colling fan. But not now... Maybe later. I sure need help 4rom a xpert. I m afraid I might blow up da CPU.

The process to overclock the CPU is the same as the rest. Just follow the guides smile.gif
You can do some mild overclocking if you're worry burning the CPU.

yeah the FA is meant for High Volume manufacturing, not for warranty purposes. Think it's not feasible to run FA on every single RMAed CPUs

or , you could loan ur cpu to our Ocing expert for a session of maxing our CPU out . Claw would love doing that biggrin.gif

Btw, i've got my M0 E2140 @ 3.2ghz @ 1.3v (bios) prime stable. Haven tested fully yet with lower volts...don u juz love how they clock thumbup.gif

tee hehe ..

Anyways i juz noticed something

E2140 L2 @ 3.0ghz @ 1.3875V load temps =54C

E2140 M0 @ 3.2ghz @ 1.315v load temps = 65C

huge load temps difference, considering the significant voltage drop on M0. anyone of you guys having these too?

LOL, actually Mr. Colin would be a much better candidate to help maxing out the CPU's - our beloved Overclocking Guru thumbup.gif In fact I'd like to thank him for all the guidance he gave me smile.gif

Hmm, this is interesting. I'm not sure as the ones I've played with are always M0 and no wonder I have silly load temps. 3.2Ghz at that voltage is impressive biggrin.gif I need mine at 1.38125V (in BIOS) to get it running stable (402 x 8)
