For first part, it was not due to political reasons. It was due to scientific discoveries. Before the 70's people everywhere including west treat homosexuality as some sort of disease or mental health problem. They tried all sorts of ways to cure the problem including electrical shock when gays had sexual urges. At the end, all their effort to cure gay problem failed. This made the scientist realise that homosexuality is something they are born and can't be changed. That was the reason why they do not deem it as a disease or mental health anymore.

As for religious part, why being homo is not wrong but when they began to do it is wrong? Did they hurt anyone by acting on it if it was between 2 consenting adults? If you feel it is religiously wrong, who made you judge and jury to condemn them? Are you God? If you're not God, who are you to enforce laws on behalf of him? If they are wrong in the eye of God, they will be judged during judgement days. Who are you to judge them when you yourself are not sinless? Remember what Jesus/Isa said "“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

but the thing, our mind has defense mechanism
if the lady continue regard themselves as victim, they will suffer

Don’t misunderstand. I’m neither for or against the LGBQT community. I’m perfectly comfortable with my own sexuality that I don’t feel threatened by people who decide they wouldn’t conform to what I find normal.
