My guess is that the biggest problem with Xs is the Minimal amunt of usable storage, But higher CPU power does good in games that cannot hit target FR from previous gen, and it is more future proof. 300+ Gb is very low storage.

However, If SX is useful if i buy it and then  use it as a emulation platform / secondary Series X. (Watched afew YT videos that shows Series S can run retro arch PS2 emulation in dev mode.

Good media center device.
*
Yup I agree.
Personally. I would only consider the series S if
1. I don’t have any current gen consoles/difficult to get.
2. I also need a media center.
3. Can get the series S at retail price or lower.

Which somehow seems to be the case with series x / ps5 being extremely rare still. It’s a good stop gap as a gaming device with the ability to be a good media center.

Storage wise...
1. Not too bad if you’ve fast enough internet to download games.
2. Can use an external hdd/ssd. Quick resume should still work.

If you already have a series X or even a one X though. Then I guess it’s not that compelling unless you really like the design/emulation machine.

ps5 seems to be a better bluray player compare xbox. But not sure if update can fix some of the issue or not. If purely bluray ps5. Gamepass absolutely worth it, its netflix of gaming. Not sure how ps gonna counter this. I believe almost all coming up xbox exclusive game will have day 1 release at game pass.

If we believe Sony, the Gamepass model is unsustainable, since most people who have Gamepass would prefer playing the Gamepass version rather than buy the game at retail or digital. Imagine if the next God of War is available on day 1, no need to buy it. How do they recoup development costs?

But, I'm not complaining with Xbox Gamepass as it is. It's not just "old and crappy games" as some PS fanboys like to accuse. It really is the best deal in gaming right now, giving us incredible value for the price we are paying. Will Sony counter it? I'm gonna say no, based on Sony's current stance on the Gamepass model. But, never say never, as they say. If Sony also does it, the clear winner will be us gamers. Don't take too much stock in the console wars, enjoy games wherever you can.

Fork out 4 games = RM1k plus already, lolz .. (Thanks Malaysia for the weak currency)
Which is one of the reason i go for gamepass now

Isn't it be troublesome to change the battery every time?

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Feb 18 2021, 12:24 PM)
That’s expensive.
It should not be more than Rm100.
I got it way before covid though.

I’m sure the price will drop after some time.

Though this seems to be by dobe (third party)

Is it safe to use a third party batteries pack?

I also feel like no enough storage to install large titled game. Can I use external SSD to install game?
Can you talk more about the media centre you referring to?

Yup same with me. I don't know if people remember, during the PS1 era, offiicially Sony Wings (and other original-only sellers) only sold Japanese versions of games. Those were reaaaaally expensive for most Malaysians.

Back in the tail end of 1998 I just finished SPM (and secondary school), and I was really looking forward to get a Sony Discman from Sony Wings KLCC. While browsing through the shop, I saw some PS1 games of that era, all selling around RM250. I just remember Street Fighter Zero 3 and Tekken 3 though. The rest are not worth remembering.

Those killer prices were a huge reason for me not to consider buying original games at the time. The funny thing was, PC games weren't that expensive. Console games on the other hand, were insanely priced. It was only in the PS2 and Xbox era that they became slightly more affordable for me. The cheaper pricing was because the publishing and manufacturing was available in Singapore. Games no longer had to be imported only from Europe, US or Japan. Having games brought in from Singapore helped to bring prices down to more affordable levels.

Seeing these high priced games come back is not going to be easy on my wallet. I get that games are a luxury, not a necessity. And knowing myself, even if I buy full priced games at launch, I won't be finishing them that soon. Might as well wait for them to be discounted. That's where Gamepass appeals to me. We have newly released games being released on it Day 1, just by being a subscriber. I don't have to fork out USD60 for each title. And if I wanted to buy them, Gamepass subscribers get a slight discount too. What's not to love?

1. As for third party battery pack. I can’t say for sure.
But I don’t really see the harm given the good reviews.
Just change every few years and ensure no leaks?

2. I’m also using an external usb ssd to install games. Sandisk extreme portable isn’t that expensive. Not the fastest ssd around but imo best performance to price ratio. Take note you cannot install series games.

3. Media center to watch Netflix, YouTube, Plex and kodi. All installable from the official Microsoft store. Even has Dolby vision which the PS5 does not. All of these apps should run really quick too, faster than any media/tv boxes.

Digital era now, haha

Last time when i start come out work, my first salary bought PS3 Slim and the game that time wasn't that expensive.
RM89~RM129 already can get one.
New launch i recall was RM159 ?

Then there comes PS4 where games price become RM179~189
and then slowly rinse up to RM239.
There's where i start stop buying launch game already unless it's really a good title that i like and i will force myself faster finish and sell 2nd hand.

This gen after seeing how microsoft promo their game pass, i straight kenak friend - Ben3003 poisoned and get Xbox Series innocent.gif

I think Microsoft plan is to take the big pie of the market and then monopoly in future like E-Commerse sites did.
Also silicon Valley tech companies are very interested in predictable income..hence we see all programs/apps going sub model.

After they dominate and got you hooked, they will slowly raise the price.

There are 2 types of people, 1st casual who likely will go GP all the way including streaming (first step to trap user to theier future streaming only service - MS missed out so much - biggest is the smartphone raise with bad decisions during WP7 years. They cannot afford to loose streaming/Subscription gaming market to let says Google or Apple or Amazon or Netflix). Also GP will drive in volume like most streaming service. Thus lower profit margin but bigger volume.

With GP theres endless flow of content and its all they need. to try the game and finish it casually without breaking a bank but will not touch it in future.
2nd type is like me who prefer to own theier games, and keep it and has the intention replay it in future cause I really dont game much and prefer to take my own sweet time to complete my game, (6 month or more to finish 1 game?) thus i usually buy on sale. For me, GP really doesnt worth it as my gaming hours per week is minimal.

I also think for many Malaysians, PC is the way to go (because theres frequent sale and games are cheaper down the line) but the high price of PC hardware really sucks now.

VG is going to be an expensive hobby for Malaysian. But for people from the states, its still far cheaper than other forms of entertainment.

I think Sony going GP route is possible, but they will not release 1st day game on GP.. Maybe 6 month Down the line? Cause most of their games are linear SP game. Thus profit hurt if everyone Sub to Sony GP. Diff crowd of gamer i guess. FOR MS, they have $$$ to burn, and i do not think it is a short term thing for MS. Since they oredy invested so much. They wont call it quit anytime soon.
