All helmets with his vinyl finish also eventually will happen. My HJC sit inside box also started to peel. Replaced under warranty. My MT Atom this trim layer crack after 6 months of use.

Only way to go about this is get helmets with only fabric or real leather for the trim.

"they don't make it like they used to" is suitable here
both in good and bad ways

safety wise, improved a lot
but, helmets and parts used to last a lot longer, whereas these days they can fall apart just not doing anything, or after one use

imagine this, I have very old performance helmets that I 'retired' after getting new ones, are forcibly brought back to service when the new one just get too out of shape within a short period of time.

my personal opinion on helmet fitting:
1. best to try the headshape without the liner, to know what the multidensity EPS foam shape is like. this is the thing that will protect the head from majority of the shock transmitted.
2. the EPS liner will make it more comfortable, but that's it.
3. if the EPS liner 'season' or gets 'worn in', then it is bad durability. those are plastic material, unlike leather that seasons with use.
4. those PFS fitment thing... please think about it and decide what is best for your head. Is like wearing an oversized pants and stuffing fibre downs to fit. When impact hits and gets transmitted, the EPS will transmit the impact to a smaller spot of the head, instead of a bigger area for one that fits.

This is a lot of PFS padding.

I can't imagine a helmet with only 1 shell size. That means your S and M size will have a lot of padding....and you may look like a bobble head if you are smaller in stature.

Generally, midrange helmets will have at most 2 shell sizes. XS, S and Maybe M, and L to 2XL share the other bigger shell. My MT Atom has XS,S / M to 2xl. I wear a M so ended up with a bobble head 2XL shell.....and the super thick padding while very comfortable at first, got loose within 6 months of use.

My new M sized Zeus 613 may have the same XS - M shell, which explains why the M size I wear has very thin padding.

More premium helmets will have 3 or more shell sizes. XS, S / M,L / XL to 3XL.

My Rpha 70 has 3 shell sizes as the above. So my M size gets the L shell but with thicker padding. Not ideal but it wasn't too bad.

Selecting the correct shell size means you get the correct padding and EPS sizes, not to mention a slimmer fit and lighter weight. But sometimes manufacturers don't put this info out....unless you are buying a premium helmet and many shell sizes are a USP for them.

Some AGV and Bell helmets have 4 or 5 shell sizes....so almost everyone can get the best, slimmest fit.

user posted image

As an example. The cheekpads of the Zeus (left), Rhpa 70 (middle) and MT Atom (right). Notice just how much thicker the padding on the MT is. And this is after loosening up in use.

My HJC is the most comfortable of the 3, but as it should be, it costs a few times more. Despite it having a L shell, it's overall outlook is slimmer than the likely S shell of the Zeus, owing to the thinner carbon/Kevlar shell and multi density EPS that the other 2 lacks.

Good grief. Are you sure about the measurements?

Maybe you have a very round head. Most helmets are oval in shape.

My head is roundish at the top so helmets that are more oval/racier will not fit.

I can't fit AGV. HJC barely fits. So far Bell and Shoei has the best fit for my head. I would say Bell is the roomiest.

Also, try helmets that have 3 or more Shells across the sizes.

Otherwise you may have to stick with jet helmets.

Actually my size is 48cm to be exact and that translate to a 4XL.

I ordered online (HJC i90 5XL) but the customs blocked it (POS Malaysia near the airport)! I opened the box infront of them and fit the helmet which is perfect! Not loose or tight! They didnt let me take the helmet and told me to get a JPJ approval which I did and got denied. So I ended up to return to seller.

I found one half face in Shoppee but you know its not that genuine, but what to do?

I want a full face and the most important is a safe and reliable helmet. But this ruling that you we have, here in Malaysia is bias for big size head. They should have at least exceptions.

If you can recommend a shop or a number to contact to buy a full face helmet then I appreciate it and thanks in advance!

Sure not a typo? 48cm? How do you measure it?

58cm is the upper limit of size M.

4XL is certainly and outlier size. Quite a lot of time is a headshape issue

No E mark I suppose. That's why I got denied. No specific info in the letter. I even asked my colleague to translate it since I don't speak bahasa.

I message in HJC FB but they said only 3XL

If your helmet got E marking inside and at the back of the helmet there is a slim chance that the customs will let it slide and you can take home your helmet. Or if the customs is in a good mood.

If not then you need to submit an email or go JPJ Putrajaya to submit and your helmet will stay with the customs.

It takes 21 business days they say but for mine it took 15 days and multiple calls to follow up. Which they sent to a wrong email. bangwall.gif

How to contact sentul?

EDIT: I bought it in Amazon US

Some larger size helmet 2xl to 3xl don't have e Mark as they are only dot certified. Smaller helmet same model have ece and others.
Wow how big is your head. I wear xl or 2xl on Asian cut. European models I wear L only.

HJCs should have E mark. Especially from a Rpha line.

However, there are cases where extraordinarily large helmets don't get tested because there is less demand for it. Case in point some of the 4xl and 5xl helmets might just get a DOT sticker, because for DOT, they don't actually need to test it as DOT can be a self declaration.

I don't know if it helps to get a medical letter for a large head to get custom exception ...hmmmmm

As for NKS , you can just go their distribution office and look for Mak. 012 236 3397. Nice guy. Did the warranty claim for my HJC.

Actually if you ever end up with the i90 again assuming your measurements for the 4xl size and headshape, maybe go for the 4xl instead of the 5xl. New helmets should be tight. A "perfect" fitting helmet may end up loose after a few months of use.

It is quite likely (and I'm guessing here) these larger helmets all share the same shell so only the padding size is different. Get the tightest helmet that you can comfortably wear without hotspots.

China brand but made office in Spain.

Worked hard distributing in Malaysia since many years ago, starting with RM200+ fullface now got premium lineup.
Quality varies between models, but you get what you pay for.
