Thinking of picking up a rpha 11 next month, any sifu can recommend this helmet for long term use? Plan on using for my first trip with my brother to Kuching. I know it's racing helmet but I like the narrow look of it and also come with pinlock and free dark visor. This will be my *first* helmet and I want to make sure the rm1++++ price is worth it.

I would recommend you to consider the rpha70.  It comes with a retractable sun visor/shade which is a better option than using a dark visor.  And it's a much quieter helmet.
It's a better helmet for daily use and
for long distance ride.

I'm using one, my daily ride helmet.  No regrets.

Forgot to ask
What type of bike are you riding?

Rpha11 aerodynamics is designed mainly for sporty riding position

Rpha70 is designed for upright riding position, touring , etc
*
I second the recommendation to try the rpha 70 with the normal fiberglass/carbon shell. I use one myself. Decent aerodynamically, very quiet, fairly lightweight. The built in sun-visor is great since you dont have to worry about bringing a second visor if you are out all day. The full carbon version is only slightly lighter and only in black so to me, it wasnt worth the price premium and i like a brighter helmet.

Just to note if you are buying HJC helmets. HJC and the dealers are sitting on quite a lot of old stock, so do check the manufacture dates. If you dont mind older stock, you can get them at a serious discount. I paid 1500 for mine.

Also due to the old stock, the "carbon" look trim on the helmet inner liners may start to peel. I had my helmet straps covers and cheek liners replaced under warranty by HJC malaysia so all good. its mostly aesthetic issue so no big deal for me.

If you can wait, maybe wait for the new 22-06 helmets that are just coming on to market. You might even get the older 22-05 helmets for cheap.

Otherwise if you are stitting on a 2000 budget, you can also explore the Scorpion lineups. Also excellent helmets around the same price range as the RPHA range. There may still be some older stock of carbon EXO 1400s left in stock, assuming they have the size.

technically there's no issue with buying an old helmet right? Is there a recommend shelf life? or is it similar to a tyre that you wouldn't wanna buy when its been manufactured and stored for a long time?

My ride is a tnt 300, quite upright but sometimes I like to cucuk corners like a mad man and my current helmet always pushing back when high speed. Maybe I'll take a look at the rpha 70. Also, what's the fiting like on hjc helmets? I heard it a bit tight on the cheeks and is it good for oval face like me?
*
The cheekpads are supposed to be tight, especially with a new helmet. It will loosen and mold to your face shape over time with use.

Just note any pressure points on the crown of your head. HJC helmets are intermediate ovals and should fit most people. Some first time full face helmet buyers think the cheekpads are tight and go for a helmet 1 size too big only for it to loosen up too much.

The Rpha 70 uses the same shell size for both M and L size. Only padding thickness is different.

if the helmet as been stored in its box and not exposed, it should last a good number of years.....trim issues notwithstanding. i read somewhere it between 5-8 years if stored properly.

Just take note of the shelf life
Just like rubber (Shoes especially), when it is left idle for a long time or will go brittle.
As for helmet you may want to see the condition of the padding.
As for the epa foam shell, it will weaken over time.

Does the rpha 70 come with any freebies like the rpha 11? Pinlock or smoke visor? Also have you tried intercom with the helmet?

Mine came with pinlock

Rpha70 has a cut out for the intercom speakers. Mine installed the Bluetooth speakers. Fit just right.

It's comes with pinlock in the box.

It does have cutouts for coms. Been using cheap china coms on it.

There are many "aftermarket" visors available for the 70. Both the 70 and 11 uses the same HJ-26 visor which is easy to find online . I have 4 aftermarket ones costing between 50 and 70 each.

For safety sake, it's better to use original

Don't know what's the quality of these aftermarket cheap visors.

I'm more concern of rocks or projectiles smashing into the visor when you are traveling at high speed

I had this experience where a stone/rock smack into my visor when I was riding on the highway, the impact was damn loud. Had a deep scratch on the original visor. It did it's job well.
This is why I always such to original hjc visors. Not cheap, but worth it.

Hello guys, I'm planning to get CB250R around end of year and am looking at HJC helmet. Should I go for IS17/C70/I70 (same shell just old and new version) or save my wallet with CS15?
*
Hey guys, same question to this one..
I'm gonna go buy my first fullface helmet once my balaclava arrive from shopee.. cuz usually shops need you to wear one before allow testing
Anyway, currently im looking at 2 brands for first fullface helmet

HJC CS15 (RM450++) - seems like more suitable for round head?
KYT TT Course (RM450++) - apparently more spectacles friendly, unsure about the head shape. All they mention is just 'Asian Fit'

Also, I think TT Course uses micrometric buckle/strap, but I see shops sell Double D rings as well? Kinda confused on this
As for HJC I think it is Double D rings but its like a 5-6 year old design already. Not sure how old are the existing stocks in the market. I see some shops are running very low on stocks and only available for the bigger sizes ( L / XL)

how effective are the vents actually? and what's the speed needed for it to be effective?
My Zeus helmet also have vents but i feel like their fake :/

both at a similar price range, but wondering have any of you guys tried these helmets before?
I have a round head shape, even wanna buy specs can be quite a hassle for me due to my wide head
Currently using a Zeus helmet, forgot the model, but its in XL size (used for riding lesson and test - currently riding nearby while familiarizing with my bike - z250)

D ring is most secure n fail proof? design, but mafan abit la, c which one u prefer oni.
hjc normally tight for round, u need to go try.
the vents, just the lobang outside is not enuff,
inside the foam needs to have channels, and exit/ekzos holes at the back, + padding design also counts.
mostly expensive models have these.

only way to know is go and test.

As for DD and micrometric, i'm ok with either. Micrometric is easier with gloves on, but DD feels more secure, as you need to tighten it to fit everytime manually.

I just ordered a Zeus 613 convertible as a spare helmet (when my Rpha 70 is wet or being cleaned) or when I fancy an open face. Paid 280 on shopee after discounts. Should arrive in a few days. Not much expectations for it, but for the price paid, jadilah.

As for ventilation, many factors will affect ventilation. Just make sure there are internal channels in the EPS, otherwise the vents wont have anything to vent. Helmet design, vent location, rider position, if your bike has an windscreen, all effects ventilation.

Actually, coming to helmets, I have a weird issue.

at speeds of 140 and above, I get an itchy nose. I think its the turbulance/vibration that is causing it). Annoying but not much I can do with it.

Wasn't a problem until i removed my wind deflector to get more air to the helmet.

so the solution is 1) ride slower than 140, 2) install back the wind deflector (and deal with heat) 3) change new helmet 4) change new windscreen. 5) change new bike. LOL.

Any local reviews of Bell Qualifier Helmet?
Seems to be quite a popular entry model helmet overseas.

Bell Qualifier (RM500+)
Bell Qualifier DLX (RM750+)
