Are they any car that have the dab radio tuner (not in malaysia, but in any countries)
*
All cars sold in EU since 2021 (and vast majority of cars in UK, UK is not part of EU - but they have some of the largest digital radio networks) already have DAB+ capable tuners included by default - this is mandated by EU.

Many cars in Australia also have this capacity.

In Norway and Switzerland, DAB+ tuners are mandatory in all new cars, since radio transmissions in these two countries are primarily transmitting using DAB+.

For older cars, it is an entirely different story. Many older cars on road (even in Norway and Switzerland) doesn't have DAB+ tuners, only FM/AM, but you can add an DAB+ adapter, or change the radio tuner as an option.

Internet streaming is not a reliable option, especially on the go (although it does sometimes provide better audio quality).

Broadcast methods (like AM, FM, DAB+, 5G Broadcast, HD Radio, DRM) are still the better method for radio listening and it is crisis proof. FM is indeed, more reliable than DAB+ while on the move (this depends on the network configuration).

I agreed what you say at the below, FM stations will still be recieved but with static sound in some areas with poor signals, while DAB stations will become completely no sound

I think it would be good if MYTV just unlock all the channels received via satellite and make it FTA.

Yes, it is the only major area that is still in satellite.

They can technically do so, if MYTV was able to rent a very tight satellite spot covering only Malaysia.

But then, most available spots on satellite, covered a much larger area (Indonesian beam - AFAIK only MEASAT provided a Malaysia specific beam) - this is exactly the case for MYTV Satellite broadcast via Asiasat 9 - some Indonesians are able to watch Malaysian TV with this method, by importing a MYTV Satellite decoder - MYTV have to encrypt it for copyright reasons so that only the intended population can access it - in this case, Malaysian residents - or the broadcasters will have to pay a lot more to buy shows.

The only thing I can't understand is the encryption of radio services.

What? the radio through satellite is encrypted as well?
Actually how Indonesia able to have FTA channels through satellite? We can watch those FTA channels with proper dish setup in Malaysia. most of the kampung folks who uses MYTV satellite decoder can scan and get Indonesia channels.

MYTV encrypt them, even for radio channels, because they want you to use only their MYTV box, rather than using those generic satellite TV box to watch it. MYTV can earn money from the sales of the box, and yes, copyright is one of the main reasons too.

Because the radio channels are transmitted from MYTV themselves, they can do whatever they want, including encrypting it. They're not obligated to make it FTA for the sake of benefiting those who uses generic satellite TV box and doesn't use MYTV DTH box.

Last time yes.
Today, those Indonesian FTA channels are long gone from Asiasat 9 satellite.

Wow thanks for the update. So satellite users get less and less channels to watch.

No, it's not like that...
MYTV DTH box users are meant to only view channels from MYTV, not from FTA broadcasts outside MYTV.
The Indonesian FTA channels is meant to be a convenience and meant for Indonesian viewers inside Indonesia, not outside of the country.

Previously around 2022, MYTV DTH users are able to view those Indonesian channels, because coincidentally the Indonesian broadcaster uses Asiasat 9's Ku band beam which covers both Indonesia and Malaysia.
You could say, it's like you "tap into their broadcasts to watch their channels", even though it is not meant to be viewed by Malaysian viewers or MYTV DTH box users.
But that doesn't last long. After around 1 year (if not mistaken), that broadcaster eventually ceased their broadcasts from Asiasat 9 satellite, hence viewers no longer able to view the channels anymore.

Well, it is actually the same for DVB-T2 TV boxes, but they had to give up because there are way too much alternatives available (including IDTV) + it is transmitted in clear.
There really is no reason encrypting free to air channels (terrestrial mode), or MYTV will get backlash for doing so.

Unless they offer pay TV services via the infrastructure alongside the free channels (most certainly using the latest codec available, for pay channels, making all old MYTV boxes useless for that - however free channels will stay at H.264), but then it is another story.

The encryption for satellite, always almost mean only their equipment/viewer card can be used for TV reception.

They can actually go for viewer card mode, but of course selling a satellite receiver will give them more money and control.

Some updates on Sri Pentas.

It appears that the landowner wants the site and plans to build a condominium.

That is why Media Prima's television and radio stations are relocating to NSTP Bangsar. But it's for the greater good; all of Media Prima's divisions—TV, radio, print, and digital—are now under one roof.
