QUOTE(shaun_kok @ Sep 15 2022, 11:04 AM) Official starting dates for HD terrestrial broadcast: That's surprisingly very recent.RTM - 1 April 2019 (test transmission shortly before World Cup 2018) (Unifi still in SD) TV3 - October 2017 (for a short while SD and HD is in simulcast until the HD variant replaced SD variant) 8TV - 12 February 2021 (1st day of CNY) Media Prima switched into HD playout gradually on Aug 2017, and even test broadcast their news bulletins in HD (starting from TV9, NTV7/Didik TV KPM, 8TV and finally TV3), Astro still SD Bernama - Sometime in 2021 (other platforms still SD) Awesome TV and TVS - HD from Day 1 TV Alhijrah - HD from Day 1 (image looks like SD 576i) Also, there is a problem where not all channels of RTM (and generally, some FTA channels including Awesome TV and TVS) is universally available on all 3 major platforms (MYTV/Astro and Njoi/Unifi TV). This situation is more visible when RTM has to simulcast on both TV Okey (for the benefit of Astro/Njoi viewers) and Sukan RTM, which both of the channels are unavailable on Unifi TV. (I know viewers can still access via live streaming in case for RTM but due to the Streaming nature, it is prone on a drop of picture quality especially when major sport events are on, unlike FTA/Satellite/direct IPTV from Unifi) Viewership discrimination to those on Unifi TV? |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Oct 31 2022, 09:26 PM) [attachmentid=11295801] When I hear about TV5, reminds me of that one time RTM tried rebranding TVI.Taiwanâs profile in Malaysia could take a giant leap forward in the spring of 2023 if ambitions to roll out new freeview channel, TV5, work out as planned. The new digital terrestrial channel, part of Malaysiaâs MyTV freeview platform, will focus on movies and drama, including a heavy reliance on Taiwanese titles, channel bosses said at an event in Taipei. About 50% of the new channelâs schedule will be classic Taiwanese films, said Yoko Chou, co-founder & CEO of Enjoy TV, which will operate the new channel. |

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Dec 17 2022, 07:27 AM) This is a legacy byproduct of our broadcasting system (using a similar one from Europe) where they uses LCN (Logical Channel Numbers). So the TV will auto scan and insert the appropriate channels accoding to the LCN list. Hence TV1, TV2 and TV3 when it started. IIRC when we started broadcasting with UHF, channel 4-6 was still being allocated to LCN, so that's why we then starts with 7 (NTV 7, 8TV, TV9). Ohhhh I see. Thank you for that information. Now both LCN and UHF are depreciated, RTM took TV6. |

QUOTE(feed2doorsmhbm @ Jan 18 2023, 02:13 AM) MEDIACORP STRENGTHENS BRAND PRESENCE WITH LAUNCH OF REFRESHED LOGOS AS PART OF VIBRANT NEW VISUAL IDENTITY This gives vibes during that one time RTM renamed their channel to RTM 1 and RTM2 in 2006.The unified look of the new logos aims to drive all audience interactions and communications back to the Mediacorp brand to showcase the extensive reach of our entire media network. Singapore, 16 January 2023 â As part of its continual efforts to deepen engagement with audiences, Mediacorp will roll out refreshed logos for its suite of digital, free-to-air and audio platforms and products on 1 February 2023. The striking new visual identity will consist of Mediacorpâs âMâ prefix featured prominently in the individual logos, each rendered in a sleek, single or dual-colour scheme. This eye-catching design aims to drive all audience interactions and communications back to the main Mediacorp brand, strengthening its collective presence and showcasing the extensive reach of the entire media network through a harmonised and unified look. Please refer to the Annex for the list of logos. In keeping with the rich heritage and strong brand equity Mediacorp has built over the years, the core design of each individual product has been retained but updated using a bold approach for maximum impact in todayâs digital-first environment. This has been achieved by streamlining the logos using a modern and mono- or dichromatic 2D effect, while maintaining the composition and colour palette of the products â signalling Mediacorpâs continual evolution in staying ahead of new trends and technologies, while staying true to the brand that audiences are familiar with. Together with the refreshed logos, Mediacorp will also be introducing the Mplifier, a new set of graphics to further amplify the association between the Mediacorp brand and its products. The Mplifier â a stylised upward-pointing arrow forming half of Mediacorpâs âMâ prefix that is meant to convey the brandâs constant strive for progress â will be applied consistently across all platforms, communication channels and marketing materials as a unifying visual cue for Mediacorpâs products. Oliver Chong, Head, Marketing & Communications, Mediacorp said: âThe bright new design of Mediacorpâs refreshed logos is a visual representation of our purpose as the national media network in delivering new experiences and compelling content built around our audiencesâ consumption preferences.â Added Mr Chong: âThe design is fresh and familiar at the same time, achieving the best of both worlds â driving a consistent overall brand narrative, yet retaining the robust brand equity we have nurtured over the years. We hope the collective impact of the logos will reinforce Mediacorpâs role in engaging audiences across all touchpoints in their lives, and convey our constant efforts to connect deeply with our communities.â To familiarise audiences with the fresh look, the logos will be soft launched on 16 January via on-air channel bugs, as well as via GIFs and videos across the respective social media platforms. These animations will depict the transition to the new logos, before the visuals are officially launched on 1 February. |

A bit a of maybe oversimplified and bad theory but 2020s might be the final decade for TV as a big thing. I feel like by 2030, TV would be irrelevant since elder viewers are going down and more younger people will be going online. Not sure if any TV Channels will cease operation in this decade tho. But I think in 2030s, a lot. Feliex liked this post
