Sunway money (via FPX rm30k max per day) to Singapore bank (SGD) to IBKR then convert from there. Any other fintech offers better rate? Thank you.

Hi, how to decide between buying UK listed ETF vs UK listed ETF (Ireland)? My understanding is if regular DCA then US ETF better, but if lump sum 2-3x a year then UK better?

Hi friends, just to share some info from my experiment:

I've set up recurring investment for VWRA, a LSE listed ETF denominated in USD.

user posted image

Contrary to the information provided by IBKR:

1. If you don't have enough USD, it will convert from your other currency balances. This conversion is free.
2. It trades at the end of the trading day.
3. It charges minimal commission where possible. (0.35 USD instead of the usual 1.70+ USD) The ongoing theory is that it's an internal trade within IBKR where possible and it saves cost.

The cheapest route to invest at any amount now for me is:

1. Remit SGD to SG Bank. (MoneyMatch -> CIMB SG, <2 hour during working hours)
2. Deposit from SG Bank to IBKR SG (CIMB SG -> IBKR, <2 hour before funds are made tradable)
3. Set up recurring investment, it's possible to set to buy for exactly 1 time to mimic normal buying.
4. SGD automatically converted to USD without 2USD commission on trade with IBKR's great spot rate.
5. Trade is done at cheapest possible broker commissions.

Not only this makes weekly DCA viable, it also basically eliminates my minimum investment amount per trade. (Used to be RM3000+ for better rates on SunwayMoney and keeping TX cost at around 0.5%)
Obviously, if your stock has shit spread, do not do this. But this is a great boon for investors like me.

Wow you just found another game changer.

No FX conversion charges whatsoever from SGD to USD and done at interbank rate!

We can now achieve what institutional investors do all the time!

I had edited my cash account to margin account so that I can order pink sheet stock

Now I am confused

lol

I got 1k cash

But my buying power is at 44k

So if I order within my available cash in stock, will I subject to margin call?

Small update, if you do not have any balance at all, it will not borrow money for you even on margin account. Pretty good system.

I received an email that I don't have enough balance for the next scheduled transaction and I should top up. No transaction is done at all on the day of the recurring transaction.

I'm just wondering though. If I purchase bond ETFs eligible as Qualified Interest Income (QII), how can I know which ETF is eligible and which one is not in IBKR?

I'm only buying VWRA at the moment, would like to buy AGG or other bond ETFs if they are eligible for QII and refunded to me smile.gif
