Most cost effective way is to withdraw from IBKR to SG bank (only 1 free attempt per month) then transfer back to MY using Wise (50 to 60 bp all-in FX spread).

Oh you mean the direct transfer to Wise is successful?

The risk with direct transfer to Wise is AML policy breaching. Some members transferred money into IB using Wise directly (from MY) before amd had received warning from IB with account closure as the ultimate penalty. Outward remittance should be the same, I believe.

If you are willing to learn options to generate some additional income, SPY. Options premium is counted as capital gain hence tax free for us Malaysian.
If you just want to buy SP500 ETF and don't want to get hit by US 30% dividends tax, CSPX from London stock exchange. But they do have 15% dividend tax Vs 30%.

No such thing as I been using ibkr lite to do that often 🤦‍♀️

If u have a Sg bank, then transfer rm9k  via Sunway Money app to SGD.

From Sg bank to ibkr's SGD account using direct transfer. Once received, convert SGD within ibkr at spot rate gets u about  USD2021.

If u don't have Sg bank, don't bother, just slight saving. However if you transfer on regular basis, in the long run, these savings are significant.

Layman's term is... overnight trading.

23.5 hours. Overnight hours is from 8 pm to 3.30 am the next day US Eastern time. Premarket session starts from 4 am US Eastern.

Note that all orders during overnight trading hours are only routed to IBKR Eos ATS (IBKR's own alternative trading system), and there is liquidity issue to take into consideration.

Err, I haven't tried overnight trading yet, can't comment. Maybe Hoshiyuu can share his experience if he had tried it?

You do have a point on trading chinese ADR stocks. They should be more liquid and track the price movements of their corresponding HKEX-listed ones.

If you are referring to buying/selling options on IBKR, I can recommend Ramjade. i know he did covered calls/puts before using IBKR.

Try not to use Sunway Money these days due to the RM8 fee (used to be RM1). Can use Moneymatch instead.

*Transfer MYR to your Spore bank account via Moneymatch/Sunway Money, then deposit SGD to IBKR.

As for "Cash on hand" and "buying power" I think you can check that from the portfolio statistics via the online portal...
