I like the first Pacific Rim but never got around watching the sequel. PR The Black can be a bit slow to get going. Aside from plotlines nitpicking, the detrimental aspects of the anime is the animation production. A lot of recycled assets and not enough scenarios to flesh out the full potential. Could be budgeting or just gauging what's the response from audience. They need to expand on the 2nd season and up their animation game.

It's either you're into Eric Andre type of gross out comedy or you just don't care. He can be a bit of miss and hit. As a movie this is just so-so but I'm fascinated with the public reacting real time to his absurd pranks. The stranger who rose up to occasion to be a good samaritan really suck me in. I love the effort they put into the movie but not so much of the end product. Not saying it's not funny as I did laugh out loud for few bits. The end credit BTS footage is amazing. This is a slicker production than Borat 2 but not as topical or reverent.

Looks like another hit from Mappa Studio. Their winning streak is unstoppable and hope Lakeith Stanfield involvement signals this more than your usual samurai anime.

If you can look past the corny costumes, I believe there's something there got me interested. Hope for the best.

Snabba Cash - Gritty crime thriller.
Right after TGWTDT became a global hit, Snabba Cash trilogy was the next big crime thriller came out from Sweden. It brought Joel Kinnaman to Hollywood. This is not a remake based on the movies or books, instead it's an update of new settings and characters with the same DNA of the earlier movies. Multiple plotlines interwoven to tell a complex crime thriller. Good watch. Season 2 already in the works.

Yasuke an ok watch only. Nothing too special about it. As the reigning king of anime studio, Mappa again delivers the goods but the storyline is your average action anime that has nothing to do historical accuracy but the usual anime dark fantasy of ass whupping and demonic sorcery.

I have no intention to watch this at all until the podcast I listened to raving about it incessantly. To my surprise, this is one of the best Netflix animated feature. From the people behind Spiderverse, so the animation doesn't disappoint. Sit through the cliche set-up, once the second act kicks in. It's non stop fun and very timely internet jokes that fuels majority of the laughing gags. When the credit rolls, you can't stop the grinning on your face. Highly recommended. Really glad this isn't your Pixar rip-off but something that can stand out on it's own.

First season starts strong and falls into cliche second half. Will give it couple of episodes to see if it's worthwhile.

Love, Desth + Robot Vol. 2.
Bummer this new season only 8 episodes. Anyway it's the same as season 1 of high quality animation shorts. For me about 3 of them really good especially the one by Tim Miller that's very poetic and the blade runner-ish Pop Squad really a standout. Really hope David Fincher will come in to direct an episode but let's see what the next season's lineup will be.

Army of the Dead was OK for one time watch. Will it save the zombie genre on a whole? Not really as you can predict where the movie will go and being a Zack Snyder movie so expect some meandering and pandering moments. Bare minimum it's not the worst thing you can watch at Netflix right now.

This show is very much alike Les Revenant the superb french mystery drama. Katla is the active volcano in Iceland. Mysterious human keep emerging from the volcano ash. The scifi angle is the volcano ash has the ability to clone beings. So far the returned human from the volcano bringing closure to heavy lingering human drama and can't help that their presence has ominous undertones. This is a deliberate slow burning mystery drama. Don't go in expecting action packed scenes. Also this show is gorgeously filmed with epic landscapes.

As far as I can understand, there are few genre within the Gundam franchises. There are those adolescent themed robot cartoons to matured war thriller themed. This is the latter one. Don't go in expecting wall to wall robot fights but more of character driven plotlines. It's still from perspective of two factions fighting each other. One kinda working in the shadow while earth federation still at ruling earth with bureaucracy of corruption. There are only two robot fights and they are depicted from ground level. Very much like the first Godzilla movie where you get to experience trails of destruction left by the behemoth. It's something you don't usually seen in Gundam. I did enjoy it very much but knowing Gundam series it will veer off to mumbo jumbo new type vs old humanity as always. Enjoy it while it last.

Basically this standalone movie is to flesh out Ashin the character that planted in season 2 cliffhanger finale. She's the next big villain. It's engaging but not mind blowing and fans of Kingdom will have an idea where season 3 will go.

Don't watch the full trailer so you don't need to know more than you should. It's gory, twisty and intense throughout. It's not just thrilling violence but some affecting emotional scenes of the mother and son. A good double feature to go with Ashin of The North to satisfy your horror movie fix.

A political/conspiracy thriller they used to make in the late 90's or early 00's. The casting caught my eyes with Alicia Vikander and Vicky Krieps. Still not convinced John David Washington is the next superstar in the making. He just doesn't have the weight to carry the entire movie just like Tenet. Not saying he is unwatchable just missing that special "sauce" to be great like his father. It's an ok watch and not by any means terrible.

This is the introduction of Vesemir, the 2nd most important Witcher character in the books. He is the mentor of Geralt and father figure to Ciri. Like the show itself, this has a pacing issue with character development and a rather disappointing antagonist. Fans of the series will definitely intrigue with the backstory and witcher lores. As a stand alone feature, it's not a standout to garner more interest. Very standard sword and sorcery material

So the Hollywood version is coming. This is one of the best film that came out in 2018. I can guarantee it's the most intense thriller you can watch. Don't be fooled by the minimal cast and everything happens in the course of one night and one location. The script and editing deserve a chef's kiss. If you don't want to wait, hunt down the original cause it's the best kind of movie not getting enough love.

This Hollywood remake is an inferior to the original Danish thriller. The slicker production value resulted more of a distraction and the film direction over explain the premise. It's missing the raw intense suspense from the original. Jake Gyllenhaal overdoing his dramatic acting too much. He is no Tom Hardy who did something similar in "Locke". Maybe you still can enjoy this without seeing the original film.
