if L R only for left and right and not 5:1 or 7:1 then that's mean my PS3 and TV also doesn't support 5:1

ur PS3 definitely support 5.1 but i dunno PS3 only support optical or what.
if thats the case, i suggest u find out the converter.

after quick research from google, i'd say, R501 is not meant for PS3.

u see, normal 5.1 source, would output 3 analog 3.5mm jacks.
connect to one green, orange and black, as seen on picture.

additional 2 line in, is meant for your television stereo AUX / headphone.

the thing is, do your PS3 have the above-mentioned 3 colour 3.5mm jack?

You can't get 5.1 directly from PS3 with that speaker that's for sure. Whether you can get 5.1 through an amp is beyond my knowledge, and even if it can you could have gotten a better set of speakers.

better set of speaker? RM400 budget is too little for a surround sound system, so far i dont see any sound system that support HDMI in, unless PS3 > AV receiver > sound system or a home theater system, but that is around RM3k minimum rclxub.gif

so that's mean both my PS3 and TV cannot give me 5:1 surround with the speaker set? only stereo? or unless i plug my PS3 and TV to a AV receiver? cry.gif

You are using Sharp Aquos 66M for display right? That should have optical out, but the problem is your speakers.. I should have pointed you to the "cheapest way to get 5.1" discussion from the console couch if I bumped into you earlier.

wanna cry already cry.gif want enjoy surround gaming also cannot, few years ago my father used to own a 5:1 surround, but that time he said seldom use it then give away to his friend cry.gif should have keep it and give me cry.gif

what he is saying is true. PS3 only support 5.1 via optical. means R501 cannot do it. luckily u didnt bought it.

edit: i forgot, if u wan cheap speakers to couple your PS3 with, u can also try to find Sonic Gear Enzo 6000.
i think that one has an optical input...

but i heard that one performance not good wor, gaming need good base, i heard sonicgear doesn't have accurate base although they have boomy base.

and how much is a enzo 6000 cost?

if my budget allow, maybe will buy 2 set identical of 2:1, one for L and the other for R, so i got 2 sub...

maybe tomorrow will go lowyat to see speaker again, wednesday go already tomorrow go again, later the salesman see me like a weirdo rclxub.gif

but some sub perform well in living room, but perform well in small room, i scare the bass really no strong enough for enzo 6000

Added on May 31, 2009, 9:22 ammy living is about 10ft x 15ft, not include some other area, just around the sofa and TV there.

Added on May 31, 2009, 9:37 ameh.....the enzo 6000 i dont know have optical in or not, but i see enzo 4000, enzo 5000 i see dont have optical in at their website but enzo 7000 got optical in, they dont have the green orange and black input jack, only got red and white, which is L and R, does this means i can just plug in my speaker to TV or PS3 then i can enjoy the real 5:1 surround ar? drool.gif

Added on May 31, 2009, 9:58 amerm.......L and R jack, not clip, that's means limited length of wires unlike speaker cable, not suitable for living room cry.gif

enzo 6000 and 7000 have external amp. and from the pic the 7000 has optical input. since its similar, try check on enzo 6000 as well.

the RCA input, dunno, ask sonic gear users...
and for the RCA cable (not clip) u can easily bought them at DIY shops to extend length.

I think, in the long run, it would be a good investment to up your budget more bro.

Guarentee you will be more satisfy. Instead of later regret.

I have play PS2 in 5.1 thru optical on my Z5500, let me tell you... nice.... wont regret.
