You can also see this with how they handle port-ins from other telcos. They don't allow you to directly port into their Prepaid but ask you to take up their Postpaid first.

When exactly did they tell you this ? I have done MNP multiple times from other telco straight to Digi Smart and Digi LiVE.

So just ignore what's on offer. Nobody's pointing a gun to your head and ordering you to buy any of the BoS items.

I was told to subscribe to a DiGi Postpaid first for at least a month. The lowest Postpaid plan allowed is DiGi Postpaid 58. After that you need to return to DiGi Centre and apply to downgrade to Prepaid Live.
Changing SIM is not necessary but porting from Postpaid to Prepaid cannot be done over the phone or Live Chat.

My port-in to DiGi was just very recently in end of Jan 2020.

DiGi has NEVER bother to take serious interests in their Prepaid department and offer little value to their prepaid segment.

They're only interested to sell Prepaid packs assuming that their users will treat their numbers as disposables for short term use and uses them as a sales forward to converting them to Postpaid users once they get comfortable with using their prepaid lines.

I have few colleagues who fell prey to their Prepaid to Postpaid conversion program tactic offers after being with them for more than 5 years as Prepaid account users. They'll call you up frequently to persuade you to take up their Postpaid deals telling you that you don't need to change your existing SIM, conversion is seamless after 1 month you'll start receiving the bill since they already have all your address info and NRIC details previously.

Some of them felt they were not receiving a good deal enough with the Postpaid plans and change back to their Prepaid only to be reset back as new Prepaid users without receiving the UNLIMITED 3Mbps BOS anymore.

The special deal goes by the age of the plan that was offered.
If you're on the very old BEST v1,2,3 plans or Smart plan, you'll most likely receive it, then there's the newer Live Plan and this NEXT plan.

Excuse me for asking before you port to Digi, were you using Postpaid or prepaid? Around 2 years ago I MNP from prepaid to Digi prepaid, postpaid to prepaid wasn’t allowed. I changed to prepaid before I MNP to Digi prepaid. Don’t mean to start an argument with you after being treated so badly by Maxis, Digi prepaid plans are way friendlier to my pocket.

That was 2 years ago for your case. Most recently I think 2nd half of 2019, DiGi already change this policy after aggressively doing marketing through phone calls to entice previous users of their Postpaid lines who ported out.
They don't even offer Postpaid 28 anymore directly even if you're trying to downgrade from a more expensive Postpaid plan.

I was an Infinite 150 user with them 2 years before and had used the line for slightly more than 1 year. When I wanted to port out to Umobile GX50 they called up and tried to counter offer me but failed. My accumulated points were already qualify me as a Platinum member but all went wasted.

Before I ported to DiGi I was on Tunetalk Prepaid and was told specifically by the DiGi centre staff that it was not allowed to port in directly to DiGi Prepaid. You must take up a Postpaid offer and use for at least 1 month.

I had done multiple MNP between different telcos between year 2016 to 2019, the last MNP was done in the first half of 2019. I never had any problem to port-in to Digi Prepaid directly from Maxis Postpaid.

As usual, they asked if I was using postpaid and prepaid, if postpaid I should made sure I had no outstanding. If I had any supplementary numbers, I needed to port-out all numbers.

The SIM card for MNP to Digi Prepaid was free. All my MNP request was done at Digi Store The Gardens, owned and run directly by Digi, not a dealer run Digi Store.

Whether you are using Maxis, Digi or Celcom, do avoid getting what you want to get done at dealer run centre. Many years ago when Digi 4G just came on the market, Digi offered free sim upgrade to 4G-ready sim. The Digi Store I went to, owned by dealer, charged me for the sim upgrade. The staff insisted it wasn’t free. I later called Digi hotline to clarify on the free sim upgrade. In the end the dealer run Digi Store called, apologised and refunded my money.

A few years ago I tried to port in to Digi Prepaid from Hotlink and they wouldn't let me and they said I have to go to a Digi Store and they were only a Digi Store Express (can port into Postpaid only).

What I've said is true from my recent experience. They really are not interested in offering Prepaid to port-ins but to push for their Postpaid plans which the cheapest offer to me was Postpaid 58, Im not even allowed to take the Postpaid 38 plan.

My earlier intention before I ported to DiGi was to subscribe to their BiGBonus 28 plan. I was previously on TuneTalk's Prepaid 48 Monthly plan.

Anyone from DiGi directly here care to confirm what I say was truth?
DiGi does not allow port in directly to prepaid anymore recently? Please confirm this openly with the public.
If you deny what I said was not true I'm going to dig out the staff who attended with me directly and query your top management for clarification.

yup, I think this digi express is like those private partners. they only do postpaid because of the commission. that's why I only go to digi centre for all these.

So you're implying that that particular DiGi staff who attended to me was actually dishonest?

I don't think so. My postpaid to prepaid conversion was done at another major branch. The staff who attended to my convbersion request also agreed the same thing, no direct port-in to prepaid allowed anymore.Must be ported in to Postpaid first with the cheapest plan being the Postpaid 58 plan.

Thus I am waiting for a DiGi staff to come and and clarify this matter. If it turns out a LIE this is the LAST time I'll be using DiGi after this.

yes, there's no issue porting into prepaid. but if that's a new rule, then may have to clarify with MCMC or abandon digi altogether.
