1 transaction can be identified by few parameters:

1) MCC
2) merchant description/name
3) mode of transaction

for myTNB, it will be MCC 4900 (utilities) and Online mode.

depending on each card's T&C, it may exclude by MCC eventhough identified as Online payment mode.


Affin Duo doesnt exclude utilities. PBB does. Some banks like Maybank exclude Utilities MCC.

just call and ask them.

after checking your card account, either they grant you *rebate* without condition OR there could be a spend condition before they grant you the rebate.

do not ask to "waive"

nobody can effectively waive SST, except the govt


banks only give you "goodwill" rebates with/without condition.

pbb is quite generous to offer a rebate, even with spending condition, it's fairly achievable since you're constantly using their cards anyway.

cb is by statement cycle.

If statement date = 18, any eligible txn posted between 19 till following 18 will be awarded cb on 18.
