Hi, I'm a first-time house owner and on a budget. My kitchen is small and a simple KC would do. The Hood n Hob, sink I can outsource myself. Would you guys suggest Ikea KC or not? Is it cheaper?

The important point is whether the available sizes can fit your kitchen. You cant cut, joint and fit.

If is a small kitchen, ready made kb is better option. Those made to order, normally supplier will charge minimum price for small kitchen.

Thanks. The showroom KC width is abt 7ft if I'm not mistaken. Then I plan to do an island before the dining table so I can have extra prep space. Will compare ready-made and one or two suppliers.

You can try dishwash and see if the marker pen graffiti comes out.
The rest look like tape residue OR aftermath of tape ripping off the surface?
*
Thanks, I'm not very sure if it's a permanent stain or tape residue yet. It's a subsale house, which i don't have the time to view every single detail during house viewing. I will definitely take a deeper look once I get the key.

Try using turpentine or car polish. Start with a small patch area.

Turpentine is effective for removing, if is sticky patches.

Got it, will give it a try once I get the key. I have not tried turpentine before, shall Google around later. Thanks.

Ready made ikea one ie the KNOXHULT below 2k..or add another 600 or so for installation.
This is a non customisable unit for the most part. Built for pricepoint.

If its for own stay a customised METOD full fledged for 8ft will run you about 6 to 7k with drawers all on the bottom half. Ikea got 0pc EPP up to 24 months laugh.gif

It also depends on your kitchen layout as well. If long kitchen like 15ft then it will cost more.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it. Attached is how the showroom KC looks like. I think it's abt 7ft++. Planning to add an island for prepping.

is anybody familiar with porcelain slab as countertop?
did some googl-ing online and stumble across this material. cheaper than quartz, have various options, stain resistance..

there's a local brand, Marmo Grande, offering them in 1600 x 3200 x 12mm for countertop options.
any owner may share their experiences with this alternative to quartz?

Porcelain slab is actually large format porcelain tiles.
Water, heat and stain resistant particularly if glazed.
Is relatively new in Malaysian market, but quartz installer should be able to handle. Manufacturer can help factory cut basin hole if installer unable to do it. Niro also has 1600 x 3200 x 15mm

Hi, I am planning the KC for my new house. Originally I want to do a concrete kitchen counter and then install the plywood cabinet. But I’ve seen many samples and they are very ugly because the counter top part will be very thick.
Do you guys have any idea to protect the kitchen cabinet from water damage? Cause worry that maybe wanna wash the floors or something in the future

If full alu is full alu 100% then it should be able to tahan aquarium flooding.
Generally ikea metod one is standing on plastic lega and suspended about 8cm AGL so u can wash the floors.. may need to remove the plinth plastic cover strip.

Request your contractor to do a raised cement flooring to suit your kb dimension.

I'm not familiar on price. Some say same price, some say porcelain cheaper. You have to do the research, compare apple to apple (same width, length and thickness).

IKEA has high volume and can play with their margin. Also their is less customisation so they can achieve higher economy of scale

What would you expect the problem of kb during the 5 years or 12 years ?

Beyond the face value of nice designer looking, cheaper and longer warranty, IKEA's warranty is subject to their discretion.
Customer claim for defect, they can assess the case as customer lack care or is normal wear & tear.
5 years could be the realistic KC warranty.

You need to complete the flooring and then do the measurement for the KC
