Anyone here using nyatoh for their kitchen cabinet doors? How much difference in price (per foot run) compare to melamine or 3G/4G?
*
nyatoh is about 2-3x more expansive than melamine, nyatoh door will have hairline cracks if not properly dry.

That’s expensive sweat.gif

My budget is only 30k for whole carpentry works including wardrobe & shoe rack. Hopefully i don’t have to top up much for nyatoh door. Otherwise i have to forgo my “shaker style” kitchen cabinet. cry.gif

Depending on how big your cabinets, wardrobe and shoe rack. A nyatoh shoe rack is already closed to 3k for me. If you have a double storey house this is definitely not enough even for nyatoh doors.

Don't forget good hinges and trays and others cost money too. Countertop can varies greatly. To be honest I rather spend my money on those than having melamine carcass and nyatoh doors

This is too general to provide any useful comments. First need to set your budget. A 2k budget vs 20k vs 200k budget are different. You may think 200k is ridiculous but my last kitchen extension was 100k and it wasn't even everything state of the art!

Then you have to decide what is your main activities in your kitchen. After which you know how big and what design your kitchen should be. For example how often you cook; do you plan to have drinking water there? Do you bake? Etc etc

Go to pinterest and get different ideas. Is your kitchen open or segregated? Dry and wet combined? What look ... Country, contemporary or what? Functional vs look?

Not everything nyatoh. Kitchen cabinet only. The rest i can live with melamine.

From my rough calculation should be around 21ft of base and 10ft of top. And 6ft of tall unit for side by side fridge, convection and microwave oven. I would settle for quartz counter top but i do want good hinges and other mechanism.

And 22ft of wardrobe (over 4 room of course sweat.gif)

Possible?

Lol. It will be challenging. My shoe rack and simple built in nyatoh work table (9' long) already almost 9k.

Your kitchen Nyatoh cabinet carcass will be the most costly if your shelves are the same. Perhaps you can only do carcass and doors but that will still be expensive!

Shoe rack can be cheap if you buy online ... Some can be only a few hundred bucks but most are ugly. Need to look hard. Your wardrobe if custom built also not going to cheap even melamine. A few thousand here and a few thousand there your 30k is gone.

No harm you ask the cabinet guy to quote both melamine and nyatoh. My suspicion is that may be possible only nyatoh door or carcass but not both for your budget.

Yes. My target is only nyatoh door. Not everything nyatoh. Carcass i can live with melamine, maybe aluminium at sink area. Melamine carcass is good enough from my experience living in current house with Melamine KC of over 10 years.

Built in shoe rack is a must though. Melamine would be fine. As long as it could last at least 10 years.

Nyatoh from unity kitchen is similar price to Signature kitchen hi dense melamine door! And Intech Nyatoh is cheaper then Unity. So bottom line-> get a few quotes to compare. I got the quotes from these 3 and in the end goes with Intech. Paid deposit now waiting impatiently.

How much usually for 8x8ft with quartz top?
You do aluminium carcass too?

Sorry, I have no idea.
You will need to get quotes from different kitchen cabinet manufacturers/ showroom and compare...
I did that when I renovated my kitchen recently. And mine is blockboard and plywood carcass with the exception of the drawer being chipboard...

Hmmm.... Might need to be more specific on 'improving the small kitchen'. E.g. increase countertop space? storage space? looks out of date so need an updated look? upgrade appliances e.g. switch to induction/ use build in oven? improve work flow?

Best to identify your current issues in your kitchen, needs vs wants and list what's important for you.
And also how extensive you would like to upgrade/ renovate your kitchen. Wet works is really messy if you are living on site during renovation... And also your budget.

To get an idea.. check out pinterest or visit neighbours house who recently renovated or even iproperty (property around your area with same house plan) to see what others are doing...
Another one I found useful is to go on youtube to look at kitchen tour for those based in Spore(HDB), HK (some their kitchen are pretty small). They really maximize the space and organize it well...

I blogged about my kitchen reno and designing it (bottom part of the webpage). It's more about the function generally than looks... https://myglasgowkitchen.com/kitchen-reveal/

After reading, seems like a small kitchen reno requires a whole lot of money and thought process

Nothing in renovation is simple. If you go cheap then less thought can be put in as less regret later!

But if you want one that support your lifestyle and activities then you need to think hard what do you want. For my current renovation I listed down every area and every rooms requirements. Design based on those requirements.

Color of the paint, countertop material, smart switches and color of the switches, led size shape lumen, normal socket vs eubiq, total power for each area, curtain vs blind and type, water filter indoor and outdoor, garbage disposal, granite vs stainless steel sinks, taps, etc etc

If you don't want to have regrets better plan down to last details. FYI the arrangement and layout of my switches I won't let my electrician simply install 🤣

Actually if you are quite 'cincai' or hardly use the kitchen, can go along with the cabinet designers suggestion or contractor's suggestion. They will do it the way they assume it suits you and is easy for them. It works for some people. Adaptation...

You can choose what to save on and what to spend to stay within budget. So I did go cheap on certain items with acceptable quality (to me). smile.gif

The other day got home expo then go to google search image / pinterest. Keep bouncing ideas off with my partner and relook back showroom. Dunno how to fit hood and hobs, how tall top to cabinet, and then colour (fighting with each other what colour) even though she doesnt cook. Then sealed off the open kitchen or not. I like it to be open cuz seems bigger. Kitchen already small dont wana confine it
