Used to be T495 and X395 but they aren't on sale currently, might want to consider Thinkpad L390/L490/L590

I see you are a big fan of Lenovo. Any particular reason why Lenovo has the edge over others?

Thinkpad has its fair share of reputations for corporates or prosumers use.

This time round, their pricing/offer is more attractive than HP’s and Dell’s business laptops counterpart.

If you talk about mainstream gaming laptop, Lenovo strike the jackpot with their Legion Y530 last year, offering solid gaming laptop with outstanding performance in the entry level market (RM3-4k).

I'm not a fan of any brand lol

If the model itself is good then I'll recommend, that's it

Under RM2.3k there aren't much options to choose from

Acer Swift 3 SF314-55-54A3/5699: high sRGB IPS, non-upgradeable RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R0CS/R2YE +4GB RAM

Ah my bad for making this assumption.

Gonna take a look at the thinkpad series you recommended. One gripe though is the ugly design and logo on the laptop hahah

Budget: 2.5k

Usage: Office, web browsing, watch video etc, a bit multi tasking

Requirement:
- 8GB ram
- 256GB SSD or higher
- 14 inch and light weight
- i5 (or i3 is fine as well)
- if can exclude OS to reduce price, I'm fine as well

I found Asus Vivobook x420FA almost have what I needed, however not sure it's available in MY or not

Most Vivobooks are mediocre

*Lenovo Thinkbook 14s 20RM003LMJ / 13s 20R900DWMJ with 3 yr warranty (use code LENXCIMB)
*Acer Swift 3 SF314-55-54A3/5699: non-upgradeable RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-55JD / 57FD / 59T5 +RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R0CS/R2YE +RAM

*high sRGB IPS

If bump to RM3k can get business grade laptop

1. Budget : RM3.3k
2. Usage : Light Gaming(Dota 1, fotnite 30fps, pubg lite) MS office, multi tab chrome browsing
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
-min 6hr battery life
-upgradeable ssd, if ram can be upgraded it's fine
-dedicated GPU

Friend is looking for a laptop that can game and have decent battery life, or a discreet normal looking gaming laptop. Has his eyes on the i5-8250u Gtx 1050 variant of the msi ps42. I have my reservations on the build quality, Msi's heating issues and MSI's warranty reputation. Your thoughts and recommendations sifu?

PS42 isn't that good especially 1050MQ model

Fine with MX GPU or you want GTX GPU? No preference on weight?

Any GPU fine for him. Have to play games at respectable frame rates(30 and above). No weight preferences as well. Also, should he wait for usb4 or just replace his thinkpad t440 now?

1. Budget : RM2.7k- RM3.5k
2. Usage : Multimedia, browsing, emergency spreadsheets.
3. Requirements (15" IPS, Battery life no less than 4hrs, preferably metal body or solid frame) :

Not an avid gamer but if I can play PUBG that's good enough. Good after-sales service. I'd have to stress on a solid body frame. Weight isn't a big factor to me.
