Hello Lowyat ! I need some help smile.gif

Budget:
4k max, prefer around 3.5k

Usage:
-Excel,Word,Netflix,Skype
-Gaming (don't need high requirements) Dota 2, CS:G0, Minecraft, Fifa Online 3
-No Triple A titles

Requirement:
- RAM and SSD must be DIY upgradeable (not soldered)
- Battery life: min 4-5 hours of web surfing or office work. User removable battery a plus.
- Display: no size preference and no need high-end display.
- Weight: Nothing Above 3kg
- Brand: no preference but must be reliable and don't die within 2 years.
- Discreet GPU needed (GTX1050 or equivalent and above)
- Good keyboard
- No need: touch-screen, convertible/2-in-1, thin and light
- Fast Shipping

Was looking at Lenovo Y7000 2019, Y530, Y540 (LENXCIMB)
Skeptical about the battery life only.

Interested in Thinkpad T590 but not sure whether can run the games i play smile.gif

Thanks in Advance.

Using discount code? Looks good but do you need 32GB RAM though

You can run those games with lower end GPU like MX250 if you're willing to lower down settings

Decided that i dont need 32gb so i change it to 16gb ram. Choose a rm50 bag instead and it will cost me rm5000+.

Hi I wanted to ask which laptop is better
Will be using the laptop to just type and watch YT and the only game I play is Dota 2

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/acer-asp...46933.html?mp=1

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/lenovo-i...OcFagm&search=1

And if there is a place where these laptops are selling for a cheaper price let me know

Hi Lowyat, my previous laptop of 7 years has finally failed, so I'm looking for some options to replace it.

1. Budget :
2.5-3.5k

2. Usage :
Word Processing, streaming (youtube, twitch, steam)

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
- Prefer 14" display FHD, good colour quality
- Long battery life preferred but not required
- Relatively light (under 2kg), will be bringing it out several days a week
- 16GB RAM or upgradable to 16GB
- Good build quality, long-lasting
- NVME slot if possible

I've been looking at the Thinkpad T495, although it's probably at the higher end of my budget. Are there any other options or deals for me to consider?

Hi sifus. Am looking at Lenovo s540 ryzen model. Looks good on paper. Any thoughts about this laptop? Or are there better sub 3k laptops around?

Looking for thin and light, not doing anything demanding on it. Maybe some casual FIFA or NBA 2k games.

I've reviewed it. However it's always out of stock in Lenovo website (premade models are >RM3k)

If you don't mind Intel UHD iGPU, consider Thinkpad L390 or L490 - promo now. If you want Ryzen, Thinkpad E495

Other consumer grade models with Vega iGPU / dGPU:
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8 / 59WJ +RAM
Lenovo Ideapad S340-14IWL 81N7003MMJ / NMJ / LMJ +RAM / S340-14IWL 81N7006RMJ
Acer Swift 3 SF314-55G-50AN / 50YA: high sRGB IPS, non-upgradeable RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R0CS / R2YE +RAM

Btw, that day you recommended me E595/E590 and I find those models to be very attractive for the 10/10 promotion (which I've missed). I just wondered if the S540 be it Intel/AMD specced would be another good alternative?

Thinkpad E series is still built better imo even though it's consumer grade. S540 is decent, however there are things that you need to take note:
-Stuck with 8GB RAM if dual channel is needed, if need expand RAM can only go 12GB (4+8), 20GB can support in theory but cannot confirm
-2GB reserved RAM for iGPU VRAM (Ryzen model only), which is a bit stupid since iGPU will still use system RAM even set to 256MB (dunno new BIOS can change or not)
-battery life (Ryzen model only): some said can get 6-7 hrs but I only managed to get ~5 hrs under similar load, though this might need to be retested
-no dual storage
-keyboard travel is short, need time to get used to

Hi sifus, I need opinion for purchasing laptop, around 2.5k, usage mostly on Microsoft words, excel and publisher. As for entertainment, video streaming, no gaming.

I spotted HP 14s-cf2002tx, Asus Zenbook Flip 14 UM462D-AAI047
Which one is better or any other recommendation?

Lenovo website does not provide 0% installment, so not considering.

Thank you.

Well clarified. Thanks again. I'm leaning towards E590 then. Hopefully there will be more sale promos within the next 2 months.
